She was my best friend. The person I told my deepest secrets to. But when my world came crashing down, it was all because of her family. From that moment, I realized I’d been wrong to trust her. Her big caring eyes and sweet face were nothing but an act as she’d watched on while I tried to keep my head above water. That was our past. Now, I’ve largely put Camila behind me and moved on with my … Camila behind me and moved on with my life. Though it doesn’t explain why she’s always there: taunting me, tempting me, showing me the life I could have been living.
I should have been laughing when her own world turned upside down. Karma always wins out in the end. But suddenly we’re forced together once again and I have no choice but to remember the girl I’ve tried so hard to forget.
Dear Reader,
PAINE is the highly anticipated follow up to my high school bully romance, THORN. Are you ready to discover the truth about what happened between Camila and Mason? This enemies to lover romance is full of angst, drama, emotions and of course steam. It is an upper YA romance and not intended for readers under 17. I hope you enjoy. xo

Tracy Lorraine is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. As soon I heard she was coming out with Book 2 of The Rosewood Boys, Mason’s story, I was stalking her. I needed his story. A Best Friends to Enemies to Lovers story. Tracy is an author that will tug at your heart strings until they are shredding and then she works her magic and everything falls in place and you get that HEA that you need. She has this ability to weave her characters and her story so deep into your heart and soul that you are never wanting the book to come to an end. I know this is a YA high school book but you just don’t get that feel when reading it. They have been dealt some terrible circumstances but push through it and make the best of their lives. On top of delivering so many emotions, so many feels, she also delivers so much steam.
Loved it! Now I really need Ethan’s and the ‘maybe’ Step-Sister’s story. Taboo…hmmm.
A really good friends-enemies-lovers romance. I had already a bit of a crush on Mason Paine after reading Thorn and I was very curious as to what the falling out was between Camila and Mason right along with everyone else. How do you go from best friends to enemies overnight? I had to have these questions answered.
If you read Thorn, Paine picks up right where that story left off. Mason finds Noah, Camila’s boyfriend, cheating on her and enraged on her behalf, he beats him up. Unfortunately, Mason has been anything but nice to Camila for the past four years. Actually, he’s gone pretty much out of his way to be a huge jerk. Taking every opportunity to belittle her, make snide comments, ostracize her in any way possible, he had the ammunition having been her best friend and knowing what made her tick. Since Mason is the only one who saw Noah cheat, Camila doesn’t believe him and sides with her boyfriend only driving a bigger wedge into their fractured friendship, but it also gives her doubt about her boyfriend for the first time in their relationship and thus starts the unraveling of her new life.
Knowing Camila from Thorn and her loyalty shining through once again in Paine she has proven over and over to be nothing but a good friend. She is loyal and sweet and it’s hard to imagine what could have happened to push someone away like Mason. Without giving away the plot, I’ll just say, Camila’s in the dark as to why Mason hates her so much just like we are.
Mason may seem like a jerk on paper, but he’s actually a sweet, tortured boy with way too much responsibility shoved upon his shoulders. At the age of fourteen, when he and Camila were still friends, he believed they’d not only be friends forever, but that they’d fall in love and actually be together forever. That was until his father lost his job, left his family, his mother couldn’t seem to hold down a job and Mason seemed to be the only one to take responsibility by paying bills, taking care of his two younger brothers and still trying to be a high school student. Who did he take his frustration out on? His best friend who still had her family, no responsibility, and still had a future, Camila.
Now when Camila’s cozy world begins to crumble, the one person who has made her life miserable for the past four years is there to support her, but she doesn’t know if she can trust him. Mason can’t shake the feeling of wanting to protect Camila, he’s done it most of his life, even when he tries to hate her, beneath that hazy layer is a lifelong memory of love. They both just have to learn to trust each other again. Can they get back to where they were from four years ago, or has too much damage been done?
Since high school bullying romance is not my favorite romance genre, I was shocked (after the fact) to find myself crying through a scene in the book. My heart dropped a few different times as well. Such an emotional read. This was well written with characters that one can’t help becoming invested in the outcome. I look forward to Ethan’s story. Don’t want to give anything away, but it should be epic! I also hope to see Shane and Alyssa get stories as well.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It never used to be like this. I’d have given my life for this girl in a heartbeat. But then she had a hand in ruining my life and everything changed.
Wow! I loved Jake, but Mason ruined me. I cried my eyes out so many times I lost count. What an emotional ride! The angst, the emotion… It was breaking my heart.
Just downright beautiful!
Wow! Camila and Mason’s story blew my mind! I love how this story progressed right from Thorn the first book in the series. They used to be friends and now they are enemies. This story really tells you their backstory and I loved learning more about this group of friends that I didn’t know before. Mason’s past was a painful one but the biggest loss he had was his best friend Camila. Camila never understood why Mason turned on her but she moved on with her life. When her world spirals out of control who will catch her when it always used to be Mason. Freaking amazing story. I highly recommend this story and I loved all the characters good and bad. I can’t wait to find out more about Ethan next.
