less than 1 week ’til P.S. I Like You !!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.kasiewest.com/2016/07/one-more-week.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+KasieWest+%28Kasie+West%29
I’ve been on a bit of a Kasie West binge lately because summer just feels like the perfect time to read a slew of sweet, fun romances. P.S. I Like You is another gem from West, with all the romance and wit you’d expect. Who wouldn’t want to fall in love with a mysterious admirer who writes you hand-written notes and leaves them for you to find in Chemistry class?!
“5 out of 5 stars!! Oh my goodness, you guys!! This novel!!! I don’t know where to begin with this review. *happy sigh* So here we go …
Lily is a shy girl who covers that with false confidence. Yet because of how she portrays herself to everyone else, it means she only has one friend. Her best friend Isabel. But even though she has a “hipster” eclectic sole and style, her goal in life is to be a song writer. And she is still on the brink of being great, IF she can get a “muse” to work for her. So, one day she was “working” on her lyrics during Chemistry class and using the desk as her paper. The following day she finds a response on her desk that someone else wrote. And so begins her exchanges with her secret pen pal. Who could it be? As time goes by she decides to find out who her pen pal actually is but will she be happy once she finally knows …
I had originally heard about this book from Julie @ Pages and Pens and I am so glad I did! I agree when Julie said…”

I received a signed copy of this book in my August UpperCase box. At first, I wasn’t too excited. Really slow to start with but once I got about a third of the way in, I was hooked. This is a high school romance as told through letters between two students, unknown (at first) to each other.
The Characters: Lily was a character I found easy to like. She has a big crazy family and spends a lot of time helping with her younger brothers (babysitting). A music lover, who isn’t all that in to the mainstream, she marches to the beat of her own drum. This book is from her viewpoint. Lily constantly writes in her notebook. Doodling, writing her own song lyrics, just writing. Anyway, I just love Lily.
The Plot: While predictable at times, this story was just original enough to keep me reading. What starts out as Lily writing on her desk, a few song lyrics, turns into a pen-pal type relationship. Her and another person exchange letters, hidden in the underside of the desk of her chemistry class. The pace in this was quick enough that I didn’t get bored. Also there were parts of the book that were the actual letters. I love it when they do that in books!
Overall I thought this book was adorable. My mom would have called it popcorn reading. Nothing too hard to think about, nothing to weird or scary, just light an fluffy and fun.
Adorable. Sat down to read it….didn’t stop until I finished in the wee hours of the morning. Had to skimreread at the end after the “revelation” to get the story again when I woke up. The Main Character had a lot in common with my daughter so I told her she ought to read it, she read a few chapters while I was busy and put in her bookmark to finish when I was done. All characters felt more high school like than the previous one I read of West’s, so considering both books I sat down to read a chapter and ended up finishing the book, looks like I’ll be attempting to get all of West’s at some point. 🙂
Loved the audiobook great narrator
This may be the better of this author’s books and I liked it more than the other ones I read other than The Fill-In Boyfriend. Kasie West’s books are easy to read contemporary romances. They are feel good books and I see why a lot of readers love her. I don’t really fall in love with her books, but I have to say I was into this book more than the other three books I’ve previously read by her. It was also surprising to find that I never wanted this book to end.
P.S. I Like You has lots of great moment and others where I wanted to cringe. But not enough to make me dislike this book. I really enjoyed, flaws and all. Cade and Lily were the best and worse. They hate each other without really knowing anything about the other. They both passed judgments about the other and I loved seeing how they got to know one another.
I loved the secret letters Lily was sending the person who sat in the same seat as her in Chemistry class. They were sweet and funny. Its funny how those letters helped her change a bit and grow as a person. When she finds out who her secret letter sender is, she starts looking at things differently.
Another thing I really loved about this book was Lily’s home life. I loved her family. Her two little brothers were too much, but so adorably cute in all their destructive glory. Lily’s older sister was a great support system for her. I loved that you get to see how Lily is always there for her family and see how some of their money struggles affect their life. This was really a great family with all their imperfections.
So needless to say I loved this book. It may be my favorite by this author so far. There were things I didn’t like, like how Isabelle, Lily’s best friend acted when Lily confided in her who the secret letter sender was. But I found it so adorably cute and I really love Lily, Cade, and Isabelle. She was still a really good friend to Lily. I just wished it hadn’t ended how it did. I wanted to see Lily actually play her music and stand up to Sasha instead of letting her treat her any way she wanted. I get being the bigger better person, but Sasha crossed a line I felt needed to be addressed. Other than that I would definitely recommend this book. I liked it a lot.
This is the first book I’ve read by Kasie West and I loved it. It was well written and easy to read. I couldn’t put it down! I liked it so much I immediately bought (and read) all of her other books. They’re perfect for the beach and a temporary escape!
Having read slim to none of the 2016 goodreads choice awards nominees, I figured I’d better get familiar with a few so I can at least participate in the voting process. P.S. I Like You is a nominee in the best young adult fiction category and the audio was available at my local library. Six hours of easy-peasy listening enjoyment…
P.S. I Like You was an easy and simple read with a surprise depth in unexpected places. I found it to be very clean and cutsie YA with innocent high school characters appropriate for the genre. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any emotional response to this story whatsoever; however, it should be noted that contemporary YA just doesn’t do much for me anymore so this could be the issue and not the book. Many readers appear to have enjoyed this so if you are a fan of this genre, it’s worth checking out.
My favorite quote:
“I folded the letter and carefully placed it back in its spot. Now I had to wait twenty-four hours for a response. This was so much less gratifying than texting.”
NO HONEY this book is way too good to exist- when I mean it’s too good I mean it went TOO FAR. I binged read her the entirety of her books that exist at my school’s library(THANK GOD THEY HAD QUITE A FEW) Had to really quick hop on to my community library to get the rest but this book is great. I found the love of books through the woman who made books like these.
P.S. She also saved my behind from failing school assignments.
I love everything by Kasie West and recommend them all! 🙂
I read this book in a day and really enjoyed it! It was cute. I appreciated that the main character actually cared about her relationships with her family and friends. Well-written and worth the read!
This book is so amazing. I love this book so much that I have read it at least 10 times.
I have read and loved every book Kaise West has written and this was no exception.
This was such a wonderful book. I enjoyed it very much. Happy I read it.
I honestly love this book. I read it in my 7th grade year and now I’m gonna try to read it again, because its different and I loved it so much.
This book was such a joy to read! It’s a page turner and the characters will make you laugh and cry. There are many unexpected twists and you will be very pleasantly surprised.
It was written very well. I fall in love with the characters instantly.
I absolutely loved this book.
