Dear Isaiah,Eight months ago, you were just a soldier about to be deployed and I was just a waitress, sneaking you a free pancake and hoping you wouldn’t notice that my gaze was lingering a little too long. But you did notice. We spent one life-changing week together before you left, and we said goodbye on day eight, exchanging addresses at the last minute.I saved every letter you wrote me, your … saved every letter you wrote me, your words quickly becoming my religion.
But you went radio silent on me months ago, and then you had the audacity to walk into my diner yesterday and act like you’d never seen me in your life.
To think … I almost loved you and your beautifully complicated soul.
Almost.
Whatever your reason is—I hope it’s a good one.
Maritza the Waitress
PS – I hate you, and this time … I mean it.

Loved this original romance!! My 1st Renshaw book and will not be my last! I so loved this well written story and characters!! The awesome twinst! I have read close to 500 books in the past 2 years, most in romance…and I get very excited when I find something “original”!! On to Melrose’s story!!
P.S. I Hate You is a beautifully written love story, and I couldn’t get enough.
I was in a book slump, the worst thing for a reader or blogger. Everything I opened wasn’t right. I have a ton of ebooks on my kindle and couldn’t get into any of them. So I messaged a friend. Like what do I do? And she suggested this one. And thank goodness she did.
P.S. I Hate You grabbed from the start. I loved the characters, Isaiah and Maritza. There were so many layers to them. You didn’t get all their history from the start. You gradually see their personalities, their wants. You were at the same pace as them getting to know each other. It hit my heart, and I fell into these characters; As they started to fall into each other.
I love books like this. This one was written so well. I had never read anything by Renshaw before. After this, I think I may devour all her books, cause why not?
Overall, Five Boundless Stars
This book improves as you read it so I recommend reading it. The H is not very nice at first and I almost stopped reading. I am glad I read on because his reasons make sense at the end and it ends on a happy note. I also like the supporting story and secondary characters.
This book was amazing. Took me one day to finish it, I honestly couldn’t put it down. stayed up until 2 in the morning, may not have been the best idea. BUt oh!! it was worth it.
Before going in, I thought I knew how this book would go, but the author took every expectation I had and blew it out of the water with every page that i read. This is the third book I’ve read by the author and each and every one has been an easy to read, captivating read that I couldn’t put down.
Despite the title and the blurb, this was a quick and easy fun read and not all filled with hate. Maritza was fun and quirky with a heart of gold and Isaiah is the rugged, damaged military man with just a hint of a more tender, soft side that we get a peek at. I’m an absolute sucker for the strong and silent type, especially with the military aspect thrown in to sweeten the deal. I loved the letters between these two and thought that the slow build to their friendship was absolutely perfect for these two!
But just when I started to think I knew where this story was going, the author threw some little twists and turns at me to keep me on my toes and guessing what exactly was going to happen. This book was filled with sweet, fun, and sexy times but also times where I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall in frustration. I definitely recommend this book and anything else by this author for anyone looking for a quick and easy fun read. I can’t wait to see what the author brings us next.
This book is the reason why Winter is one of my favorite authors. She knows how to write. Fantastic read. Military books are amazing and this one is no different. I’m so honored I got to read this early. I loved the characters and how well the chemistry was between them. Great book.
A perfect mix of sweet, funny, and a pinch of angst! I devoured P.S. I hate you. I started thinking I’d have a nice weekend read and ended up reading the entire book in one sitting. Isiah and Maritza were too irresistible to put down for even a moment! I had so much fun reading this.
The sparks between these two were immediate, but they were complete opposites in every way. Isiah the ever serious, no emotions, loner and Maritza the bubbly, optimistic sweetheart. These two clashed but had an undeniable chemistry despite them trying to fight it. What started as funny with great banter quickly turned also adorable and sweet along with HOT!
I loved their “friendship” and melted even more as that grew into something much deeper despite their denial. I was captivated by their story, glued to the pages from start to finish!
Isaiah & Mariska’s Enemies To Lovers Romance Is A Steamy Slow Burn With A Feel-Good Ending! There Are A Few Tears. It Is About Taking Chances And Finding Purpose.
Mariska Claiborne, twenty-four, is the granddaughter of one of Hollywood’s classic movie stars and pinup models. She lives in Brentwood in her famous grandmother’s guesthouse along with her cousin and best friend Melrose, but money and fame don’t insulate Claibornes from earning their keep. She is expected to pay Gram rent. It was a lesson Gram learned in her earlier years and passed along to the next generation. Mariska works as a waitress at Brentwood Pancake and Coffee, well-known for their famous pancakes and the one pancake per customer policy. She had finished her sophomore year at UC Berkeley, but her father now refuses to pay for school until she chooses a useful major – one that he approves. The problem is that Mariska still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. Her cousin wants to follow in their grandmother’s footsteps, but that doesn’t excite her at all. She is taking a year off of dating to focus on herself and hopefully find a way forward.
Isaiah Torres, twenty-seven, is a loner and prefers it that way. Sure, he has befriended fellow soldiers during his ten years in the Army, but life is easier without attachments. He learned that lesson the hard way ten years ago, and his whole family won’t let him live down what happened to his father. So much of the last decade has been spent on deployment, and he feels a little disconnected from his two brothers and three sisters when he heads home to his mother’s apartment in South-Central LA during his time off. People tend to love him or hate him, and it doesn’t much matter which to him. His poor communication skills don’t help matters, and neither do his stubborn streak and sometimes rash behavior. He spends his down time at sports bars, enjoying beer and women. He isn’t boyfriend material and doesn’t pretend otherwise. He has a one-and-done rule that he usually sticks to.
When Isaiah sits down at one of Mariska’s tables, he pushes her buttons like no other. His rude manners are shocking, and his insistence on having her break the strict one pancake policy has her putting her job on the line for him. When she literally bumps in to him later, neither can believe their luck. Despite their heated exchanges and Isaiah’s rudeness, they have a connection of sorts. Mariska’s bubbly personality cannot be tamped down, and even though nice with a big personality is totally not his type, Isaiah finds himself giving up control to a woman for the first time in ten years. Neither is interested in dating, and Isaiah deploys to Afghanistan again in one week. So Mariska proposes they spend the week together – a week of Saturdays – doing the kind of fun things that Saturdays are for. Strictly as friends, of course. No lies and no romance allowed.
Isaiah and Mariska quickly realize that their chemistry is undeniable, yet they convince themselves that they can recognize it and move on as friends. They both stubbornly commit to sticking to their ground rules, and though they stray a little, they know their time is limited to one week. But Mariska gets her way one more time when Isaiah agrees to exchange letters with her while away. They depart as friends. During their separation, their letters allow them to deepen their friendship. But Isaiah is sent to Syria, which is a hotbed of danger. And for Mariska life goes on.
Isaiah and Mariska are a decidedly complicated couple. Isaiah is over the top rude and a little unpredictable, but Mariska slowly discovers over the course of their week together that there is a hidden depth to him and she likes it. Isaiah surprises himself when he realizes that he actually like Mariska. Their relationship is fragile as they tentatively trudge forward. Neither believes that nine days of knowing the other can lead to something lasting. Even more established relationships fail when tested during deployment. But while Mariska is open – what you see is what you get – Isaiah has many layers. He doesn’t lie, but he holds his cards closer to his vest. Their non-relationship is tested as they both face personal challenges. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.
Isaiah and Mariska’s enemies to lovers romance is a steamy slow burn with a feel-good ending. There are a few tears. It mixes Hollywood and military service. It is about taking chances and finding purpose. The story is well-written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are nicely developed. Isaiah’s unravels slowly, as he is a private person. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Isaiah and Mariska. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

Review:
I’ve had this book on my kindle for a while but I never picked it up. While I was scrolling through my kindle to pick my next read my eyes fell on this book. I looked up the summary and decided to read it. I sadly didn’t like it that much. It wasn’t bad or anything, I just expected more.
What is this book about:
This book is about soldier Isaiah, and waitress Maritza. They meet one morning at the restaurant Maritza works at and it didn’t go well. Isaiah was quite rude and Maritza couldn’t stand him. Not seeing him again would be to soon for Maritza. However that didn’t go according to her plan. When she gets in an accident causing someone to hit Isaiahs car she offers to give him a ride home. She tries to make nice but Isaiah isn’t having any of it.
Isaiah feels bad for being a dick to Maritza and tries to make up for it by buying her concert tickets to a band they both like. The night doesn’t go all that well but somehow they end up agreeing to spend the next eight days together. No strings attached.
What did I like/love:
I liked the concept of the story. Two people meeting and not instantly hitting it off but not being able to walk away.
What did I dislike/hate:
I didn’t really connect with the story and the characters. It felt a bit flat for me. it was a bit predictable and the drama was a bit unnecessary. Maritza, while understanding she felt hurt, jumped the gun a bit quickly.
Rating:
3 it was oke stars
** spoiler alert ** Isaiah has always said that settling down was not for him. Maritza has decided to take a break from dating. They have 6 days before he leaves. Will Isaiah realize what he has before it is to late? Will Maritza get the answers she has been looking for?
I’m a sucker for Winter Renshaw’s books and this one was no different! I absolutely loved both of these characters and you could feel their emotions within the writing. I didn’t blame Isaiah for being the way he was, but loved how determined he became to atleast get her to hear him out. Absolutely loved how out going Maritza was and how she was determined to be up front about everything. Great read!
I have read this book twice. I read it the second time because I couldn’t remember what happened the first time and thought I remembered liking it. It was an okay book. I thought Isaiah was a jerk at first but he got better and I liked him by the end. Maritza was the opposite. I liked her at first although I thought she was a little obnoxious but I couldn’t stand her by the end of the book. I found her to be a stupid woman. She had a gut feeling something was wrong with Isaiah but believed her cousin and friend instead of finding out for sure. All she would have had to do was go to his mother’s house and ask. No harm done. She could of had her closure. Instead she writes him off as a loser. Then believes his family member, a person she doesn’t know from anywhere. That didn’t make sense. She was just so stupid and childish. I couldn’t stand her. And Melrose was even worse. That girl got on my nerves so badly, I thought about skipping past her parts.
This was the first book in a while where the guy didn’t fall immediately in love with the girl, and I appreciated the honesty of that. It felt more realistic – with Isaiah getting deployed, it doesn’t make sense for him to make himself vulnerable and fall head over heels right away. Going on the ride with these two was lovely, and sad at times, but ultimately a HEA.
Loved it
I loved this book. It was easy reading. It was enjoyable and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. I could not put the book down and stayed up half the night trying to finish it.
I didn’t like the story, there was too much going on with his family and never really got a full picture just pieces . I like this Author a lot and will continue to buy her books . This is not a true representation of her talent.
I never quit a book once it is started, but I kept hoping it would grab me and in never really did. I had a hard time connecting to the characters and felt the conflicts were a little too simplistic. I liked the idea but it felt a little flat to me.
Loved it.
Loved Loved this book stayed up most of the night reading it I couldn’t put it down I tried to but picked it back up couldn’t wait to reading it to see what the ending would be I Highly Recommend this book can’t wait to read the next book P.S I Loved This Book
Oh wow!! I absolutely adored this story. Isaiah and Maritza made such a lovely couple. Opposites attract. They meld really well and their friend excursions are sweet and romantic. My heart broke when she sees him again and it appears he’s forgotten her……… that little twist I was not expecting.
Wonderful characters and lovely full of probability ending.
I’ve got mixed feelings here. Mainly because I didn’t like either male nor female protagonist much. Isaiah didn’t come across as a good guy. His back story and scars from military service were not dealt with in a way that his behaviour was acceptable. Maritza on the other hand was supposed to be a happy, optimistic, good girl. But in the context of the story I thought she was clichee, a doormat and often acting stupid. Also, her intentions towards Isaiah were all over the place. She sleeps with another guy because he suggested it? She pines over him when she doesn’t hear from him? When he finally confesses his feelings, she claims only ever wanting a friendship?
Despite all this, there is some potential in the story. And the ending was cute.
