P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1)
By Debbie Manber Kupfer
5 out of 5 stars
The story P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1) by Debbie Manber Kupfer is a YA/Supernatural/Fantasy book. It is a story that pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is exciting, entertaining, and magical. I loved reading about the character of Miri. She is a young girl who finds herself on a journey that is mysterious and will encounter surprises along the way. She meets new friends who are members of the Partnership for Animagi, Werewolves, and Shapeshifters. Read the book for more of Miri’s story. This story has some action, danger, and a bit of romance. Miri is a character that I grew to love with each chapter that I read and wanted her to be happy. Many of the additional characters are the friends that she makes, and I enjoyed reading about their interactions. The book has moments when I felt for Miri and what she was going through and others that warmed my heart. I loved that there are many different supernatural characters. Don’t miss out on a story with amazing characters and a storyline that keeps your interest until the very end. I would highly recommend reading it.
This magical young adult audiobook captured my attention and I loved it! The narrator was expressive and easy to listen to. The story is one that is imaginative and a true original. It doesn’t follow the same formula that is rehashed in other fantasy books.
Shifters and other magical creatures are given a whole new look and feel in this one of a kind story!
I would enjoy listening to or reading more from this author, she is a creative writer that does her job very well!
This is the second book I have read/listened to by this author and I would like to listen to more in this series. I DO NOT agree this is a Children’s book. There are quite violent scenes, references to rape and disembowelment, cannibalism, etc. I would suggest mature teen and above. The rest of the book falls within YA. It is an uncomplicated listen.
The book itself I found to be enjoyable. The idea of three types of shifters, the school and hidden shifters was interesting. Also, the shifters were not limited to canines.
This is the first book I have listened to by this narrator ( Priscilla Finch ) and I would listen to another. Her cadence is one who reads, not performs so it kept me from getting deep into the book. Her character voices are subtly different but there is not much variation in tone or expression.
There are no explicit sex scenes, there is described violence. I think there was swearing but can’t say for sure now. I do not agree this is a kids book. There are quite violent scenes, references to rape and disembowelment, cannibalism, etc. I would suggest mature teen and above.

Story 4/5
Narration 3/5
Just before Miri’s Omama died she gave her the cat charm she always wore around her neck. Little did Miri know this act of kindness would save her life as well as put her in grave danger. This is a unique coming of age young adult fantasy novel is filled with magical creatures, a dangerous power hungry man, and an element of self discovery that will leave you highly satisfied. Even though this is a series most, if not all questions are answered and the ending does not leave you lost. It does however leave you with an imprint of the characters and a longing to continue their stories. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes shape shifting fantasy adventures or to anyone who is looking for a light read which leaves you satisfied and wanting more at the same time.
Miri comes from a long line of family shifters. Her mom is not part of that line since Miri’s omama gave the special amulet to Miri. Her father is the big bad wolf.
Miri goes to school with other paranormal beings and is being taught about her new form and possible powers.
Very good story. Especially if you need a little break from more adultish reads. Will continue the series when I need those breaks again.
Narrator did an excellent job especially with the spells and singing.
I received the audiobook for free from StoryOrigin in exchange for my honest review.

The premise of this book is fun, the execution, not so much. I found it a bit slow and boring. Debbie Manber Kupfer created a world that has a ton of potential and could explode into many stories with multiple types of animal shifters. Maybe the narrator didn’t do this book justice of maybe it was a slow as it seemed but P.A.W.S. fell flat to me.
I received this audiobook for free from StoryOrigin. This is my honest and voluntary review.
P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga, #1), my third read from author Debbie Manber Kupfer. A well-written enjoyable 6-hour 33-minute read. After reading P.A.W.S. #3 & #4 I’d obviously missed something so I went back to the beginning. If I’d read this book first there’s no doubt in my mind I would’ve continued on. Priscilla Finch’s excellent narration adds to this unique book’s enjoyment. I look forward to Argentum: P.A.W.S., Book 2. “I received a free Audible review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Miri receives a charm from her omama when she passes and in a time when she is in peril years later is astounded when she shifts into cat form. From there on the story goes on to her meeting other shifters/werewolves, etc, and her learning how to use her powers. Enter really evil villan who wants the power from her charm. I really enjoyed this book. I was given a copy of this story in exchange for a honest review,
I enjoyed this book a lot. I don’t generally read or listen to books about shapeshifter, werewolves, etc and didn’t quite know what to expect with this one, but I found it to be a great reason to break out of my normal. I liked the way the author introduces shape shifting and how she is able to maintain very human characters even though they have animal sides. This was a fun mix of human, magic and animal. I loved that even when the characters were in their animal forms they still acted and thought like humans. So many shapeshifter books seem to exploit the animal characteristics even when in human form and I don’t really like that. This book was filled with excitement and is something I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone as a fun story. I think I’ll have to get the next book in the series.
Absolutely wonderful and very colorful. I love the characters and especially the cats! Amazing story
This was a really good book. Debbie Manber Kupfer added a bit of a twist to the usual shifter genre and I liked it. This novel had a few twists and turns which made for a very interesting read. I loved following the story of Miri as she learned about her heritage and also found love. Debbie Manber Kupfer is a talented author and I look forward to reading more from her
P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1)
by Debbie Manber Kupfer
I enjoyed this book. I do feel that this is more appropriate for young adults/teens than adults but it was still a very enjoyable read full of magic. I liked the main character Miri a lot. She always felt different from others and I loved the feeling she got when she transformed for the first time, it made her feel more like herself. In this story there is friendship, growth, danger, adventure, history and more. This book draws you in and keeps you entertained needing to know what’s going to happen. There are many different characters in this book, some you will love and some you will loath. I recommend this book.
P. A. W. S. is the first book in the P. A. W. S. Saga series.
This is my first read by this author and it was a good experience. While I don’t usually read YA, this book was entertaining. There were a couple of references that would make this book questionable for anyone under the age of 16. I enjoyed the author’s unique touches on the supernatural and the world building was excellent. Overall, while this book was fairly tame for me, I think it would be a good read for the younger crowd. A teen would most likely relate well to the main character who feels out of place in the world and who is learning about who she is.
This was a great supernatural story.
Miriam thought she was a normal young girl that is until her grandma dies and leaves her an amulet of a cat.
Miriam doesnt know what i means until one day she shifts into a cat.
A werewolf called Josh comes to rescue her and takes her to P.A.W.S where she can learn to use her powers and learn all about her heritage as a shifter.
Miriam thinks her life couldnt be better but little does she know there are evil forces building up against her.
Alistair is Miriam’s biological father and a powerful werewolf. But that isnt enough for him. He wants Miriam or more importantly he wants her powers from the amulet around her neck. So he build’s an army to attack P.A.W.S so he can get to her.
Can Miriam learn how to control her powers to save herself and defeat her dad or will it be no good and Alistair will win.
I give P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1) by Debbie Manber Kupfer, 5 stars.
I will admit, I was recommended this book by the author a couple years ago as something I may like in an event, purchased it, then unfortunately forgot about. My TBR list is huge and I can stop buying. Anyway, I finally got the opportunity to read it and I can’t believe I waited so long. I would say this is a teen book, but as an adult, I enjoyed it immensely. As a cat lover, this is what drew me in and I really like Miri as a main character. She feels alone and not quite understood, but she learns more about herself and steps up when she needs to. It does have a feel of being inspired by the Harry Potter books, but the author makes it her own in the types of characters and the world she creates. There are so many other characters I am dying to learn more of as the series goes on. Then there is the story itself. Miri feels like an outcast and all alone. Most people, especially teenagers, can relate to this. She is finally able to find a place she feels more comfortable, but events happen that do not make it as easy as it seems.
If you like a world of magic and fantastic creatures and people in a young adult/teenage age group, this book is for you.
P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga Book 1) by Debbie Manber Kupfer is a YA paranormal fantasy story that will delight its targeted audience. The story is about shape shifters of all kinds and there is magic and secrets, danger and violence, and lots of drama and adventure as we journey along with a young woman who finally finds where she belongs and the magic inside her. But there is a darkness that threatens all that. It will be interesting to see where Debbie takes us next as the story is open to many possibilities.
P.A.W.S. (The P.A.W.S. Saga, Book 1) by Debbie Manber Kupfer was a great fantasy read.I loved the world building and history that was introduced throughout the book. The story moves through different points of view which really helps the development of the story. I found it kept my attention more so than just pages of history and world building. Miri was such a young character and I found her adorable and I had a feeling of over protectiveness.

Find out what happens next in this must read. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
This is my first book by Debbie Manber Kupfer. Her story is well planned out. Her characters are fully developed and yet a bit mysterious. I found myself wanting to know what was going to be happening next. This story is YA Fantasy but make no mistake, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I find that the YA genre authors have fresh ideas that keep me engaged until the last page and leave me wanting more. In this story Miri has received a silver cat charm from her Omama Celia. Little did Miri have any idea what secrets she is going to be learning. I highly recommend this story to see what Miri is going to be learning in the coming days.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it from page one. I thought it was engaging and it kept me interested from the beginning to the very end. The author had a good writing style and the main characters are what really made this story and I couldn’t get enough of them. I was rooting Miri(the MC) and couldn’t wait to see where the story was headed. I am looking forward to reading by this author and I would recommend this book to a friend!
