My favorite book so far. I don’t know how to handle waiting for the next book ahaah
This was a first time read for Ms Ellis and I truly got into the story with zero issues even though I haven’t read any of the other books. If they are crafted like this one, then I’m definitely going to be reading them. Inside Own to Obey, you immediately get drawn into Kardos and Shaya’s story. Own To Obey does end in a cliffhanger so there is no HEA here. I’m surprisingly alright with that though, because I want to see what is next for these two. I’m hoping the next book will be out soon though. Dark and delicious are the only two adequate words I can use to describe the riveting world Ms. Ellis has crafted for us.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader’s copy of Own To Obey in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this book as well as the others in this series.
This is my first book in the Omegaverse series and boy it sucks you in! You don’t need to have read the others, you get a feel for Kardo’s world, and it’s a dark one…not is a bad way. Their methods and desires are on the darker side, but you can see how much he cares for Shaya and how it kills him to think someone else might possess her. This has intrigue, grit, passion, lust, but is also at heart a love story!
Once again Ms. Ellis does not disappoint in her Omega series. The story of Kardos and Shaya is emotionally spellbinding and will have you on edge until the last page. Kardos is an intriguing alpha who does not come off as brutal as some of the previous ones. He finds himself captivated and drawn to Shaya and it will be interesting to see what is in store for the two. The only thing I regret is that it ends on a cliffhanger. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
ONE DARK DELIGHT!!!
OMG! Talk about hitting the ground running. This is one action packed, fast paced, hard hitting, nailbiting, pulse racing, heart pounding, thrilling, page turning delight that will rock your world. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, really makes this bad boy an enjoyable experience. Zoey holds nothing back and takes no prisoners in this dramatic, suspense filled, dangerous and highly addictive storyline that pulls you in so deep that everything else ceases to exist. The characters are realistic and believable with such depth it’s easy to become part of the tale instead of on the sidelines watching. You feel everything the characters feel, be it loss, fear, heartache, sadness, excitement or dread. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it’s easy to picture each scenario as it plays off one another in perfect balance. Her imagination is astounding and with an eye to detail that really shows just how talented and gifted an author she is. I’m not sure what she uses for inspiration but I have a feeling that this is just the tip of the iceberg with endless possibilities she’s capable of displaying to the max for her readers. Its no wonder she’s one of my favorite authors. Zoey did a phenomenal job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Zoey, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
Mesmerizing Myth
Own to Obey, Myth of Omega Series, Book Seven, by author Zoey Ellis was written with such intrigue and passion that I’m completely hooked and can’t wait for book eight. What will the High King decide to do with Shaya? What will that decision mean to the Alpha shinno, was Kardos. Will he and the other shinnos honor it or cause mayhem?
Definitely recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and I am leaving this review for your consideration.
Alpha Prince Kardos negotiated for a rare Omega and got the beautiful Shaya. Shaya is to be a gift to the high chief who will assign her a mate so Kardos has to stop thinking of Shaya as his Omega. Shaya is not his, no matter how much it felt that way. Omega Katashaya volunteered to go with the handsome Kardos in place of her sister Kyus. During the long voyage to Kardos’ home, Shaya starts developing feelings for him and she believes the feeling’s mutual. What happens when Shaya finds out her fate?
Own To Obey is a dark, intriguing and steamy story that will draw you in. I can’t wait to read Book 8 of the Myth of Omega series.
I knew Shinno Kardos’ story would be awesome and Zoey Ellis did not disappoint!!! He is so sexy and savage. He is an anti hero, but I think he will win you over earlier than a lot of anti heroes do. Shaya is quietly strong, a good match for Kardos. I couldnt put this book down and I cant wait for the next one!!!
And so begins another chapter in the Myth of Omega’s Saga
Kardos has acquired him Omega and is returning to the islands – Book 7 picks up pretty much right where we left off – Shaya has agreed to take the place of her sister as Kardos’ promised Omega. I think she believes she knows what is to become of her but the reality may be a bit more than she bargained for.
Kardos is an arse! Straight up and absolute self-centered, know it all everyone is beneath his clan, ARSE!! He has big plans and he knows that the chances of him keeping the prize he is transporting are slim – but that does not deter him – He will do everything within his power to control and manipulate the outcome –
He might be redeemable sometime WAY over there in the future but right now I am mad at him – it is going to take a lot of groveling to even get me to entertain the idea of forgiving him
Now our dear sweet Shaya – that girl has been hiding some brass balls under her gowns! I envied her ability to step back and truly analyze the situation – Sure, there are occasions that her choices are a bit irrational but for the most part she takes a moment to think before she reacts – She accepts that she chose this, it was her decision. Kardos is not making the transition any easier, both of them lack the necessary truths with regards to an Omega and this leads to a lot of miscommunication as well as unnecessary pain- I am proud of Shaya that for the most part, she does not do the poor me pity party like so many female leads! She stepped up and offered herself and she accepts that she needs to fulfill her promise.
This first book covers the journey back to the isles and gives us a bit of background about the tribes and how the lands are run- We also are introduced to some entertaining supporting cast members as well as some secondary characters that are both amusing and a bit scary
Something within this storyline did not click for me. Kardos has thrown me off a bit – I feel like his personality has altered a bit – I could be wrong and the author is revealing his true colors – IDK – I guess I will find out as the story progresses because I need the next in series now -I have to know how this plays out – The copy I read was comp
Omegaverse reads are always my favorite even though I know the alpha is going to make me mad as fire in the beginning sometimes even till the end lol. Kardos is no exception to this rule. He is from a harsh culture which I understand makes the people tough but come on give an omega a break. I admit there were a few times I was tempted to throw my kindle out of pure aggravation at his treatment of Shaya. He did show some softer moments a time or two but not nearly enough so I am just waiting for this sweet omega to bring him to his knees (fingers crossed). Shaya was a softer character than I am used to in this author’s books but with a quiet strength visible in her interactions with Kardos. The storyline was so good. There were some interesting secondary characters which I hope to see more of in the next book. I had to laugh with glee at the cliffhanger on this one. You go girl!
Own To Obey is the 7th book in the Myth of Omega series but it can be read as a standalone. This is not my first Zoey Ellis novel and like the others I was hooked from start to finish. This is a DARK ROMANCE so reader discretion is advised.
This novel was intense, gripping, steamy and emotional. It was interesting reading about this new world created by the author.
The story was mainly about Kardos and Shaya and how their relationship develops inspite of the fact that Kardos comes across as cruel and overbearing at the start. Secrets were hidden and when exposed the story ends in a major cliff-hanger that will leave you reeling and wanting more. I can’t wait to read the next book and find out how it all ends. This was a great read and i would recommend it to all lovers of Dark Romances.
I am going to start off this book with a warning. There are situations in this book that will trigger people. There are situations that will make people upset. If you have triggers, then don’t read the book. If not and you can look past the beginning few chapters, then read it.
Now that is out of the way, let’s get onto the review!!
I enjoyed reading Own to Obey, even though it was the 7th book in the Myth of Omega series. I do not like picking up a book mid-series. 9 out of 10 times, I am left with a “WTH” feeling as I read. I did get a small sense of that when I started reading Own to Obey. I was confused with who the characters were and why Kardos needed an Omega. But, the author did a fantastic job of explaining everything.
I will admit that I wasn’t a fan of the first few sexual scenes of the book. The author did a great job of having Kardos explain why he did what he did. But still. It was hard to read. But, as Shaya’s feelings for Kardos grew, the sex scenes got hotter. By the time Shaya went into her Haze, the sex was steaming hot. I was a little confused about the knotting at first. But it was explained in the book and then it made sense. Survival of the fittest.
I did like Kardos even if I didn’t understand his reasoning sometimes. It drove me nuts. He should have talked to Rozalia sooner. If he did, some of the hurt that Shaya went through could have been avoided.
I felt awful for Shaya. She had been ripped away from everyone she loved and was given to a leader who was determined to make her into one of his people. She tried so hard those first days. As traumatized as she was, she tried. And what did she get? A shinno who’s way of teaching her things involved pain and a hurt shoulder. I would have acted the same way she did if in that situation. Except for the orgy she walked into. I would have noped right out of there instead of staying…lol.
The end of the book was interesting. It showed a lot more of Kardos’s peoples culture. It explained the hierarchy on the island and how an Omega was going to change everything. It explained Kardos’s role in that hierarchy. It showed the depth of feelings that Kardos had for Shaya. Those last scenes said it all. I can’t wait to read book 8!!

The Myth of Omega series is made up of individual trilogies that are all closely related. Each trilogy follows a different couple. The trilogies can be read as standalones but I would recommend starting with book one and reading them in order. For one, they are fantastic. But also, couples from previous trilogies are mentioned in later ones, and it also helps to get a better understanding of the Omegaverse.
Book seven starts the trilogy of Shaya and Kardos. We are introduced to them in book six, Amara and Malloron’s story. This one is a little different than the previous stories. The entire book, until right at the very end, takes place on a ship (instead of a castle) as they travel to the Southern Lands. There is also not as much verbal communication between the couple as Kardos refuses to speak in Shaya’s native tongue. He wants her to learn his and wants her to learn it by exposure and figuring things out on her own. However, she is only allowed interaction with one woman, Treska. Luckily she has Treska. I love her. She is Shaya’s saving grace.
Kardos is similar to Drocco and Malloron in that you want to hate him for his alpha barbaric thoughts and ways he treats Shaya. But, at the same time, he gives glimpses of someone who cares for and is developing feelings for her. Also, knowing what could be Shaya’s fate, you can’t help but root for these two to come together. Shaya is tough. In some ways, she grew up somewhat sheltered. What she is experiencing is new and frightening, but she doesn’t let it get her down though. The chemistry between these two is sizzling. There is one heck of a cliffhanger at the end. It’s going to be hard waiting to find out what happens next.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Zoey Ellis is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
OWN TO OBEY by Zoey Ellis is book 7 in the Myth of Omega. This is the story of Kardos and Shaya. I haven’t yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book. Shaya who has been protected steps forward to go in place of her sister when she is to be taken. Kardos wish to present Shaya as a ‘gift’ but Shaya doesn’t really understand what is going on. Kardos is a dark person, who thinks that Shaya who is sweet and soft needs to be tougher for his lands. This does add to the darkness of their story, in addition this book does end with a cliffhanger setting us up for the next installment.
MyOhMy. Wow! Words cannot do justice to this newest book in Zoey Ellis’s Omegaverse. You’ve been warned: this is very dark—if you have triggers this is not the story for you. That being said it was amazing. This is the third trilogy in the series and it does stand alone. You won’t want to miss the first two trilogies but this is a new couple, in a new land with a new dynamic.
Shaya is an Omega who has been living in plain sight. She seems soft and gentle but has a backbone of steel and is stronger than even she knows.
Kardos is a tribal leader in a brutal and ferocious land. He is determined to return Shaya to his land and earn the recognition he deserves. But Shaya is too soft and gentle for his homeland so he’ll have to break her, even though she is everything he could ever want.
Major cliffhanger but worth every dark, dramatic second of reading, this is a page turner and I’m now eagerly awaiting the next book in the trilogy.
Sit down with plenty of time but you’ll be at the end before you know it. The story lures you in, then grabs you and doesn’t let up for an instant. Tightly written, intense and moving, you’ll be hoping for help for Shaya and want to beat Kardos even as you see him changing. You’ll realize that they are just what the other needs as they learn and grow. Yes it’s dark but one of the things I love the most about Zoey Ellis’s characters is they are true to themselves. They truly believe they are in the right and you can understand their motivation based on what you know of them. It’s also nice to see them change and grow, learning from each other as time goes on. Hurry and write faster, I need book 2 NOW! (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
This is a new to me author and I can’t get enough of her! I have not read the previous 6 books yet I didn’t feel lost. I completely devoured this book in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down! Will Kardos, the dark Alpha be able to hold onto his Omega Shaya? I absolutely had to know what happened but alas it ends in a cliffhanger. Not to fret I will definitely continue the series. I highly recommend this book!
