This book definitely deserves the warning the author, Zoey Ellis, gives about it being dark and possibly disturbing reading. It is definitely on the dark and rather twisted erotic side, but it is also infused with emotional trials and tribulations as well, as the two main characters struggle to understand what exactly their relationship is or isn’t. The author sends the reader on a ride where there really is no true ending. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
Own To Obey (Myth of Omega, #7 ) starts a new chapter and a new Alpha/Omega pairing.
Visiting tribe leader Kardos who we previously met was promised an Omega to take back to his lands: that Omega is Shaya who has been hiding in plain sight.
So book Seven in this series starts exactly where we left off in its predecessor and almost immediately here I was engrossed and committed to the unfolding drama.
Shaya after willingly trading herself in place of her sister is determined to stay strong and not be broken by her new circumstances in life: but it’s not long before the reality of her new situation really starts to hit home.
So, this was quite savage and brutal at times and I really felt for Omega Shaya: her confusion and bewilderment of her current situation all made much worse by the language barrier and treatment she is receiving from tribe leader Kardos.
He, in turn, thinks that he needs to do this to help her accept her fate and place with his people: that he is training her in the ways of his tribe and culture.
There were certainly times here that I hated Kardos just as much as poor Shaya.
It was such a struggle at times to really comprehend his true feelings towards Shaya: beyond the obvious that is.
He was also king of the mixed messages and as soon as I realised what he actually intended when he reached home I was just then just waiting heart in mouth for the dreaded and expected fallout.
My heart was breaking for poor Shaya when she finally realised what he had done and I wanted to personally knock Kardos out for being such a bloody turd.
I was engrossed from start to finish here and read this in one entire sitting.
Really can’t wait to read the next book here so much did I enjoy this.
On a final note please be aware that this story is very dub-con in nature and please do avoid if this is a tall an issue for you.
I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Own To Obey (Myth of Omega, #7).

One of my fav series in Omegaverse, totally worth reading.
I like where this is leading. Super excited about the cliff hanger. Ii usually hate cliff hangers. I just wish there was more about the Southern culture. I really hate when their is a language barrier. I hate not knowing what’s going on and having to learn a language. I don’t mind it being sprinkled in there. The heroine needs to find her strength and not put up with Kardos shit. The hero is surrounded by intrigue. Why is he different? Still have questions. I do recommend this book, I’ll follow where the author leads she hasn’t let me down yet.
I was offered a copy of this ARCto read via Bookfunnel and since both the author and series are new to me, I had no idea what I was in for. Now, I’m going to need to backtrack just because this one so captivated me. Did I need the previous stories to start this one? Absolutely NOT. Zoey Ellis created a world all it’s own, filled with a King and seven alphas or princes, if you will. We only see snippets of a few of them as the story centered around shinno Kardos and the Omega he traded for, Katashaya and their sea voyage back to his lands. The storyline, plot, and characters are so strong keeping me enthralled to find out what was going to happen, what were their reactions, and what was going to happen next. This one captured my imagination and I’ll definitely be watching for the next one.
I love the world Zoey Ellis has created in her Myth of the Omega series. Ellis extends her world in Own to Obey.
Shaya has no idea what she did when she volunteered to take her sister’s place as an Omega for the strange and brutal Kardos. Sheltered all of her life, all she knows is she’ll do anything to save her sister. Immersed in a foreign culture, surrounded by a language and faced with customers beyond her. Shaya must quickly learn to adapt before she’s lost in a culture she doesn’t understand.
Kardos is driven to prove his worth. He has the respect, and love, of his tribe, but that’s not enough. He has to prove his worth by presenting the first Omega in over a century to the High Chief. But how can he do that when Shaya proves to be willful? Willful, strong and beautiful. He understood his purpose and had a plan, but now, how can he give away this beautiful treasure.
Shaya takes back the power she didn’t know she had by making the only free choice she has. Now the question is what will happen in the aftermath of that choice?
He is to collect the rare omega woman he is charmed by her but now she must obey no matter what. He will teach her and she will bend to his will. She is used to the peace and quiet of her home but now she is about to start a new life. How will she get on? See how

cliffhanger
This is a wonderful story but a very dark one. The characters are great as in they are not perfect, there are a lot of twists and turns in the plot that keep you completely absorbed and engaged in the storyline! This is the first book in this couple’s story and so it’s the perfect place to start reading these if, like me you haven’t read any of the others in the series! I’m looking forward to the next book.

I am usually a bit careful when I read that a book is a dark romance. But a well-written book is always worth reading!
I was caught in the world from the very beginning and it kept me interested to the very end.

This was my first read by this author, but not the first in a MF Omegaverse story. In this book there are a lot of differences to the usual Omegaverse type of stories but a lot of it is the same. I found this to be quite slower, and the Alpha in this case quite tame and sometimes a bit of a bonehead.
This is the first in this couple’s story but no the first in the series, so people who have read all previous books will have a bit more background about a few of the mentioned characters, whilst getting to know a few new introduced ones and those of us who have just started will no be left out as much as i can standalone.
Shaya the female Omega in this book, has volunteered to go with Kardos instead of her sister who was being offered. She is strong in her own way and surprises Kardos who at first glance thought she was weak and would suit his purposes well. Surprise for him when he realizes her meekness hit a strong backbone.
There is a lot of secrecy in this book as Kardos fails to impart a lot of things that may affect Shaya as they journey to his lands, but expects a lot from her from learning his language and culture and punishments for failure.
Be warned this is not a sweet book and there are a few scenes of dub-con inside. It should be interesting to see where the next story goes as the ending of this ones left the reader with questions.
I am going to write this review a little different as I don’t want to give anything away. I am going to mix the synopsis with my thoughts on it. Kardos has achieved the seemingly impossible; he has obtained an Omega for the Southern Isles. He immediately sets out for home and starts to introduce the Omega to his people’s way of life. Shaya sacrificed her safety for her sister and tries to remain strong. That was amazing to watch, her strength and her positive nature. Kardos is so much an Alpha that he plows forward with his plans even when they are crashing and burning. This was a hard book to read as Shaya’s thoughts really show how sheltered she was and I just wanted to protect her. Kardos and his actions made me want to kick him in the rear. I was so impressed with Zoey Ellis, she manages to pull you into the characters and their emotions from the get go. I was unable to put it down until I was getting near the end. The reason; it ends on a cliffhanger. I had to walk away for a few days as I just couldn’t bear to be left hanging. I will probably wait until the next two are out as cliffhangers kill me. Zoey Ellis is so very talented and I am looking forward to reading more tales in her Myth of Omega series. 4.5 stars for Own to Obey!
I loved how Shayla gave up her own life as her sisters servant over to Kadros to save her older sister. She was selfless in giving up the only life she had so her sister could be happy. She did this as a trade when he asked for an Omega woman and the King gave her sister even though she was already betrothed to another.
What the Alpha Kadros did was to further his people because Omega had disappeared from his tribe long ago. He trained her sexually for what would be expected of her.
I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens next.
I loved this story. It is the kind that you can identify with the characters and immerse yourself in the story. Very well written and characters to win the heart make this book a must read.

This Dark Romance was well written with great characters that kept me totally hooked until throughout the entire book!
This was a dark and intense read. It will not be for everyone. Please read the blurb before reading this book. There is tons of content in here that will be upsetting to some readers and triggers for others. This includes; but is not limited to dubious consent. Kardos and Shaya. These a are VERY complex characters. My heart broke for Shaya. She is strong and determined but everyone has a breaking point, and Kardos is persistent in his quest to bring her to hers. Kardos, for me was just supremely unlikable . He was so brutal, mean and incredibly cruel to Shaya. Plus, there is drama and twists aplenty that will have your jaw hitting the floor often. Prepare for a cliffhanger because there is one.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Wow what fascinating story . When omega (shaya) katashaya 19 yrs old is given to the alpha Prince tribe leader kardo from king malloron instead of her sister. He doesn’t know why he is drawn to her. I can’t wait to read the next part .
OMG, Zoey girl, how do you do it?! So hot. With each addition to the Omegaverse world series of books(that sounds like a baseball team, hehe), the characters depth of emotions and the story . . . Ah! Be still my heart. I am amazed with the complexity that she is able to portray with these characters and still weave in some pretty heavy, raunchy sex scenes (which I love; cause let’s be honest, what’s an Omegaverse book without them). Can’t get enough. By and far one of my fav authors. Can’t wait for the next book. Almost wish I had waited to read this book when the next one was out just so I could jump straight into the next.
