Hot summer fun where you’ll change…in more ways than one. Librarian Mara Scioto lives a nice, neat, orderly existence—except when she’s being attacked by uncontrolled male shifters who need to mate. Pesky little detail, right?Raised by a grandmother who hates all shifters, she has one wish: to make it past the age of twenty-five without experiencing The Morph that tells you you’re one of them. And … you you’re one of them.
And then the letter from Camp Shifter arrives with her name on it…
Orthopedic surgeon in training Jack Karsten is waiting to see if he’ll follow in his shifter brother’s footsteps. Being a shifter won’t be so bad, if that’s his destiny, but when he meets Mara, he realizes that fate and love don’t always align.
But love always wins.
It can be a bear of an ordeal sorting it all out, but if anyone can help, it’s the staff at Camp Shifter. While they’ll train Jack and Mara on the ways of shifter life, there’s one thing they can’t teach them:
How to get out of their own way and let love leave them changed.
Forever.

I haven’t read the 1st few books in random series by Julia, but I so want to after reading this!
Sexy, fun and action packed adventure filled with exciting and engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists, exciting turns and laugh out loud moments. Really enjoyed this highly entertaining and emotionally thrilling journey. Great reading!
If you like Julia Kents books you will love these
I have read quite a few books by Julia Kent and loved them all. This book was “written” by one of her characters from the Random series. Just like that series, there were some fun and some quirky characters here. Some are even characters you’ll know if you are familiar with the Random series. However, it’s not necessary to read those first to enjoy this one.
I’ve read many shifter books and liked the different take on the shifter world that this storyline presented. Here, shifters are known to humans and live and work right alongside them. Shifters do not know they’re shifters until they hit an eight year window (starting at age 18) in which their true selves might emerge. Or they get a letter. Either way, they’re sent off to a camp to learn the ins and outs of being a shifter. I’ve never seen any of those characteristics in any shifter books I’d read before. It was an interesting change.
As for the main characters, I liked both Mara and Jack. They both had traumatic experiences in their past that was caused by shifters. To find out they were one, especially for Mara, was tough. I loved how they learned and worked together and leaned on each other.
However, I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see any of Mara and Jack once they re-entered the “real world” away from Camp Shifter. I wanted to see how co-workers and Mara’s Nonnie would react to their return. There was also one really big unanswered question i was left with.
Hopefully we’ll get to see more of these two making appearances in future books in the series. I am definitely interested in reading more.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
Not a typical Shifter story! Mara the shy and quiet Librarian, hasn’t dated since she was attacked by and Untrained Shifter, but she see’s all kinds at her library, since paroles, visit the police station next door, to check in. So when she’s approached by an untrained, she handles it through procedural steps, then passes out! AT the hospital she meets Dr. Jack! Hot, tall, yummmm! But her grandma isn’t making things easier. But they are very attracted to each other, and don’t know why. Both are days before their 25th birthdays, but don’t think they will be shifters. Good thing cause Mara’s, Granny don’t like them. The Story is always fluid and funny and endearing. I would love to see more stories like this!
Amazing story that was a joy to read. Wonderful characters and well written
Fun and exhilarating is how I would describe this beautiful shifter story. Owl Be Bear For You is a stunning vision of a tale so unique and amazing that you will be left in awe and quiet joy as you linger over this incredible masterpiece. I love the paranormal realm because anything is possible and no one can hold you back. I love the beauty that is found within these pages that made me smile so big and sigh so loud that I got looks from my family while reading. This is what dreams are made of, and I savored every bit!
Mara knows what to expect from life. She knows the ups and downs that are headed her way, and she is determined to face more ups if she has any say. She just wants to be happy and loved so that she can’t stand still. Jack has his plans set in stone since he has family to take care of. One night knocks the wind from his sails and blows him completely off course. Can these two find their way back, or will being blown totally off course be the best things that ever happens to them?
Mara and Jack blew my heart to bits, and I was left reeling. Nothing is better in a story then to be taken by storm, thrown around by confusion, and then brought back to center by a love so powerful that your heart and mind will never be the same again. These two put me through just that scenario, and I love them to pieces for it. In fact, I would love to see them again. Our time was much too short.
D. J. Jennings is a phenomenal author who shook the foundation of my world and left me with pieces of my heart in my hand. They know how to use words to make you feel, to shatter your world, and to being everything back together even better then before. I was left in wonder at the heart and soul of this brilliant writer. Nothing will make me happier then to read and savor more of their extraordinary stories.
I don’t normally read shifter books but i agreed to voluntarily read and review this one. First of all this is a Julia Kent book, well you are in for a treat as usual. Mara is a librarian, sweet, smart sexy and she has had a bad experience with shifters in the past. As the story goes, you have to either receive The Letter or shift before your twenty fifth birthday. One day she faints and ends up in the hospital where she meets Dr. Jack. He is smart, gorgeous, big and impressive and she keeps thinking about him. Jack on the other hand knows from the first sight that she is is one and only. He asks her on a date and this is where their whole journey starts unfolding before your eyes. Fun, sweet and steaming hot. After your first visit ot Camp Shifter you will never be the same again !!!
This is the first book in the Camp Shifter series. This isn’t your usual shifter book, this portrays a whole new side of shifters I haven’t read before. Mara Scioto is a librarian who has a tragic history of being brutally attacked by an untrained shifter. Maria is at work and is attacked again but the security guards get to her in time to stop any damage from being done but she still needs to go to the hospital to be checked out. Jack Karsten is the intern that works with Mara in the emergency room. There is an instant spark, Jack goes to library to ask Mara out. They go out on a date and have a wonderful time but then Mara doesn’t hear from Jack. When Mara finds out why Jack didn’t get in touch with her after their date everything starts to fall in place. There is still danger and terror around the corner. I love this book. The character are great and you feel for them and what is happening to them. The story is amazing and original. If you like shifters this is a must read
Just survive shifter camp
I love when I find brand new twists to being a shifter. This book is one that kept me on my toes and glued to my seat. I love how these two had an instant connection and the way they found their way back to each other after so much upheaval in their lives. I enjoyed the intensity and heat that the author brought to the story, I was so enthralled that it was over way before I expected. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
FINALLY we get to read one of Darla’s shifter books! If you’re a fan of Julia Kent’s Random series, you’re gonna love this book for that fact alone, and will be delighted by the call-backs to that series sprinkled throughout the novel. But even if you’ve never read the Random series, you will positively adore this book! The story is endearing, and the writing is witty and thoughtful. And the romance… oh my gosh, the romance! Absolutely sigh-worthy. This is truly paranormal romance at its finest. It’s sexy and funny and exciting and thought-provoking, and did I mention romantic? Well, it *bears* repeating, but *owl* give you a minute to think about it. I challenge you to read this book and not be completely enamored by it. If I haven’t yet made it clear, I absolutely LOVED this book and can’t wait to read more in this masterful and endearing Camp Shifter series.
* I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All of my opinions are honest and entirely my own.
I am a fan of shifter stories and this one was good but not one of my favorites. Mara and Jack have an insta-connection high-heat attraction to one another. As they are both inducted into the world of shifters and learn more about what they are, they are able to explore what they are to each other. There are serious and funny (campy) moments throughout and the story ends in a HEA.
