Captivating and steamy- great read!
One of the best romance novels I’ve read this year.
Liam and Samantha have great chemistry and all the characters work well together. great read
A guardian and his ward…love between them seem impossible yet one can’t help but hope their love will come true. This is only first part if their story so expect cliffhanger. Still, it is a medium heat page turner.
Samantha is a child violin prodigy. Orphaned at the age of 12 when her father died. Her father was a political diplomat with a mystery surrounding his death. Enter Liam, who becomes her guardian until she reaches the age of 18. Liam is a former soldier, runs North Security Company. As Samantha grows , she can’t resist falling in love with Liam. Liam struggles with his fee!ings and lust for her. All he wants to do is To keep Samantha safe and protected.. but from who? This story just begins their journey, and mystery. who is trying to kill her! Why do they want her dead? Who was her fathers enemies? and what repressed memories does she carry? The narrators Teddy Hamilton and Grace Grant performances are so emotional and expressive for all the characters. Skye Warren has another beginning to an excellent series! There are some questions answered. Twists I didnt expect and an Holy crap, I didn’t see that one coming revealed!! Can’t wait for the next book, Concerto. #audiobookobessionreviewgroup
This was a delicious book, Liam as protective as can be over Samantha who is young and innocent. I enjoyed the chemistry between these 2 as well as the differences. The journey these 2 have taking has been is a wonder but hard story but she is one of the best violin players and she is turning 18 . What is going to happen.?
Too leading, pushing for the series
This was a story I couldn’t put down. There were many twists and turns to the story. The sex was a bit steamy, although a little twisted. I loved the background information about violins and composers at the beginning of each chapter.
Couldn’t put this down. Two broken people helping each other. One through her music, and the other by providing a family to give her some consistency in her life.
I loved this book. As a fan of the forbidden romance trope, I was excited to read this age gap romance and it did not disappoint. The storyline offers a rich, decadent blend of simmering desires, painful, raw emotions, scorching scenes, intense emotional turmoil, drama, humor, danger, suspense and a lot of angst. The book very quickly pulled me in and had me eager to keep reading, even with the full knowledge that this is only book one and that I would be left hanging and desperate for the story to continue in book two. Samantha and Liam are both likable and sympathetic characters. They both have painful histories and carry heavy emotional scars that greatly effect who they are and every action they take. I liked Samantha so much. She was a complex mix of old soul and naivety. As a child prodigy, her amazing gift with the violin has been in its own way both a gift and a curse. I don’t even think the word complex can truly describe Liam. Tormented, tortured and broken, we have just barely had a peek into what makes Liam the man he is today and it is dark, tragic and ugly. It has made him into a closed off, controlling, terse, cold fortress of solitude. But just like Superman, he has a weakness and that weakness is Samantha. With some couples, you just instantly know they were made for each other in spite of any and all obstacles and in my opinion, that fits Liam and Samantha to a T. The book is beautifully narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Grace Grant. I love when dual narration is offered because I think it just adds a specialness to the listen. I thought their voices fit the characters perfectly. I will give extra props to Mr. Hamilton though because he truly managed to convey every once of guilt, shame and self-loathing that Liam felt. I just can’t wait to read book two and see what happens next for this couple as this amazing story continues. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
I LOVE Skye Warren. She reeled me in with The Pawn, which made me have to read all of her books, and again I was not disappointed with this book and trilogy. I knew this book was going to end on a cliffhanger, so I personally waited for the whole trilogy to come out so I could binge all 3. I’m a huge fan of the forbidden love type of books and this one is about a guardian and his ward/older man and coming of age girl/woman. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I sighed endlessly when I finished the first one and immediately bought the next one so I could keep going. I also loved the facts about violins & classical composers at the beginning of each chapters and felt that I was not only consumed with the motet, but could heat the music as I read. I highly recommend this book and all books that Skye has written!
While I was not sure at first if I would like this due to the familial (non-blood related) relationship of the 2 main characters, I became so engrossed in the book that I had to read the other 2 books in this series.
This is story of Liam & Samantha. Liam is Samantha’s Guardian since she was 12 years old, since her father died. She had a terrible childhood. She is afraid that everyone she comes in contact with will get tired of her and eventually leave. She is an accomplished violinist. He was 28. That was 6 years ago. The story begins when she 17 years old. They are highly attracted to each other. He is very protective of her. Once she turns 18 she is determined to make him see her as a woman. He has always been in a dark place in his life due to his childhood. He started and owns North Security, which is very discreet in their operations of what they do. His two brothers, Josh and Elijah are part of it. There is an accident when she goes out with her friends on the day she turns 18. It is a suspicious one. Liam makes sure she has a bodyguard at all times, even when she can’t see them. There were advances on both their parts towards each other, until finally they get together. She leaves to go on tour. Looking forward to the next book to see what happens. Great writing keeps you glued to this story.
Hated it. Tough read.
I enjoyed this book, but was disappointed when I was left with the story unfinished only to find that I’d need to buy 2 more books to finish the series. I’m tempted, as I really enjoyed it. It is a romance with a murder mystery twist.
Love, love, loved it.
Slow read
Loved this one, plus liked the link in the character of her friend…from a previous book
It ends in a cliffhanger. Just an FYI.
Cliffhanger. One of three books to complete the story. I am done with this author!
