This is the 3rd book I read by Skye Warren. I’m sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 3 because this story wasn’t for me.
I love this hero and heroine, the attraction and chemistry are off the charts!
enjoyed the story but really have to read
next books to.see how it all shakes our.
Audible listen. Narrators did a good job! Liked both the male and female narrators; each fit the characters well and they both have nice sounding voices.
Good chemistry between Liam and Samantha. Like the forbidden aspect, but I would’ve preferred for them to wait till she was 18 before anything romantic happened between them. It’s not the full thing, but too much with someone under age. Liam is Samantha‘s guardian since she was 12 years old; she’s just about to turn 18, he’s in his early 30’s. She is a prodigy with the violin and is about to go on a world tour, and Liam runs a security firm with his brothers. They both feel an intense pull towards each other, but Samantha is the main aggressor; Liam is trying to be a good guy and resist the pull. There’s also some possible danger out to get Samantha; possibly in connection with her father’s death, so there’s a bit of action too. Liam and his team help protect Samantha. This book does end on a cliffhanger, so you’ll be needing to read the next books for the full story. Overall, the story was entertaining for me and I liked the chemistry between Liam and Samantha. I also liked the musical element to the story; the facts at the beginning of each chapter were fun. I look forward to the next books!
Overture by Skye Warren is book 1 in North Security trilogy. Delicious tastefully written taboo story line. Liam is Samantha’s legal guardian ( not blood related) and as she approaches her 18th birthday they both struggle with their attraction to each other. Liam tries to keep his distance from her but Samantha is a determined woman who knows what she wants. There is also an added mystery to this story with who is after her, Liam is determined to keep her safe as she heads off on her world tour. I love these two together and even though it is considered taboo I thought it was built naturally and tastefully.
Overture (North Security #1) by Skye Warren – Skye Warren likes to put one foot over the line of inappropriate, turn around, and stick her tongue out at you like a brat. So of course you are going to want to read the who serial if you start this because the lady loves a cliffhanger! Happy Reading!
This is an intriguing, intense, and steamy forbidden romance. Liam North becomes Samantha’s guardian after her father’s sudden and tragic death. Samantha was a child violin prodigy at the time and now is about to graduate high school and embark on a world concert tour. Liam has helped her flourish musically, but their feelings for each other has matured as well. Samantha has always been obedient but is ready to rebel and take what she wants, including Liam. Liam, with his military background, has seen and done too many things to think he is worthy of love. He holds back with Samantha, but not when it comes to her protection. There are so many questions surrounding her father’s death and Liam knows that Samantha’s life could be in danger as well. But will he be able to set her free knowing she will be open to danger but also knowing she owns his heart? Teddy Hamilton, and Grace Grant were amazing as they brought this story to life. Hamilton performed Liam’s zealous need to protect Samantha with the perfect balance of his conflicting struggle to make Samantha his. Grant played Samantha beautifully showing her growth from wanting to only please Liam to awkward seductress, trying to take what she wants. There are so many secrets that make this thrilling, emotional and steaming story completely captivating. I can’t wait to find out what happens next in Concerto.
Audiobook Review

First book I’ve read by this author. Won’t be the last. Really enjoyed this story and looking forward to the follow-ups. I need to know what happens next!
Overture – Skye Warren
Why oh why did it take me so long to read this book? I should know better, I should have done it a long time ago when the ads and Skye’s newsletter would tell me to get Overture and start this journey, but I didn’t. I brushed past it, choosing to pick up so many other Sky Warren books and reading them.
So many broken people and so many innocents, but isn’t that the way of the world. It is definitely part of Skye Warren’s world. Someone is always atoning for sins that weren’t really theirs to atone for, with someone who could save that person, that what you will get when you read one of her books.
Liam North is convinced he is not cut out to have the life any other person would expect. He and his brothers abused by a crazy father, Liam joins the military and is eventually able to open his own security company and bring his brothers into the company with him.
Has he done bad things, who is this world doesn’t do bad things even if they are done with good intentions. So when Liam sees how Samantha Brooks a 12 year old violin prodigy, being left on her own to fair for herself he does what he needs to do, even in advance of orders. He then applies to become her guardian and for the next six years, makes sure she has everything any child could need to grow up in a safe environment the whole time realizing that as time goes by she means more to him than just being his ward, his feelings are not those of a parent. Nor should they be those of a parent, he was never going to be her parent just someone who would keep her safe. Then he would let her go, but now on almost the eve of her leaving for a worldwide tour he doesn’t really want to let her go, he also doesn’t want her to know what kind of danger she is in. Know this however, Skye Warren would never write a hero like Liam North who would let her go. He will make sure no matter what that she is always protected, even if it is not him doing the protection.
Skye Warren’s beautiful stories are heart breakers, tearjerkers, exciting, dark, and page turning and they contain so much love, the kind of love everyone wants to have in their lives. The kind of love that surpasses the love everyone wishes for and by reading her stories you the reader are allowed to partake of that love.
The Bishop – A Tanglewood Novella – Skye Warren
After I read a Skye Warren story I need some time to come down. I need to think about what I read, who was in the story. Did the light win in this story? Did it beat the darkness that surrounds parts of Tanglewood?
Anders Sorenson has appeared in several other books and I don’t think anyone really knew how deep his character was. How dark he could become, how darkness had followed him for such a long time. Until now in The Bishop, this is his story.
Chess has played a part in several of Skye Tanglewood books, Chess it is a deep game, a dark game where sometimes people are destroyed. In The Bishop it is that particular chess piece that gives this story life. We find out Anders background, what happened to take him into the darkness and how he wants to try to bring back some of the light. He is hoping to trap the person who has the matching Bishop. He is hoping to catch the person who beat and raped his mother and stole the matching very expensive rare Bishop. Anders owns the other half of the pair and Anders has put his Bishop in an auction as part of his trap to find the person who caused his darkness.
Natalie Lhuirs, approaches Anders while he is looking at some of the art up for auction. They discuss several paintings and Anders develops a interest in Natalie. He has to leave abruptly do deliver a baby in a poorer part of town. You see Anders is a Doctor, part of his darkness is eased helping those who need help be they good or bad without involving hospitals or police.
That night the Bishop disappears from its case, gone, but how? by whom? It turns out Natalie was the thief. Anders goes looking for her and finds her in the alley behind a seedy hotel beaten, cut, delirious and almost unconscious. Who did this and where is the Bishop? In an effort to get the information he needs from Natalie he takes her to the home of friends (Avery & Gabriel) to take care of not just her wounds but to take care of her, to protect her where he realizes she had stolen the piece not for herself but for someone else. She is the only one who can help him find the person who made her steal it.
He and Natalie weave their ways around each other, he treating her wounds hoping she will trust him, she slowly trusting him and once she finds out why he is looking for it she knows she needs to help him. Natalie slips out of the house, with Anders and Gabriel following her back to the scene of the crime. Will she tell him who forced her to steal the Bishop? Now that Anders has developed feelings for her will he still protect her? Will they both be able to move out of the darkness and into the light and be happy?
I can’t tell you, I can only say that once again Skye Warren has woven a tale of dark and light and love.
This book is dark, romantic and OTT great!
A little bit Beauty & the Beast, a little bit older man/younger woman, a little dark romance and definitely the taboo trope of guardian in love with his ward. WOW! Do I need to say more?! Well, if that’s not enough, chapter 25…Oh. My. Word!!! I’m fanning myself. PS his “beastly” ways are in his over-protectiveness. A little switch-up.
Liam became Samantha’s guardian when her Ambassador father died. Her mother is described as “long gone.” Liam was 28yo and Samantha was only 12yo. How he even knew her is a mystery you will find out later in the book. So good…
Samantha is a child prodigy on the violin and has been invited to tour with other musicians now that she will be graduating from HS soon and turning 18yo. Liam North is distressed that she will be leaving him after having her exclusively for the past six years. He has many regrets, only one of which is that he loves Samantha. She wants him as much as he does her, but his guilt overshadows everything. He runs North Security along with his two brothers Josh and Elijah. Both Liam and Samantha are described as “old souls” in the story, which makes sense b/c he always seems to act more like someone in his 40’s and she older than 18yo. He has so many secrets and some we find out in this book.
I can’t wait for the sequel, CONCERTO to get the rest of the story. I hope we get books for Josh and Elijah as well. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it comes highly recommended if dark romance is your thing.
WOW! Amazing! This book is one of my absolute favorites by this author. I love Liam! This book captivated me from beginning until the end. I had no idea what to expect or where the story was going. Such a beautiful, heart wrenching, and taboo story. It pulled at my heartstrings. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is A VERY TABOO READ! if it can offend you, step back and don’t read it.
Liam is Samantha’s LEGAL GUARDIAN he Took Care of Her after Death of Her father. She’s a violin prodigy and about to become 18 yo girl on Her own.
Both of them have developed feelings for each other – feelings not for a family member. They are trying to avoid expressing them and even showing them.
There is A lot in them especially Liam – he is big strong trained to kill and hurt. Yet he can do tender when it comes to Samantha but A second later it can be unleashed! He is definitely an Alpha hero that gets what he wants!
Samantha doesn’t remember last night before Her father Death. She has no memory. As 12 yo się was put in the custody of Liam. They have no connections.
What are their feelings? Will they manage to resist them? Are there any secrets that are hidden by Samantha’s amnesia?
Read this sensual taboo read to find out! You won’t be disappointed! I hope book 2 will be released soon!
This was my first book by Skye Warren and I went into it completely blind and I am so glad that I did. I am a huge fan of taboo stories and age gap romances and I was immediately hooked with this story line from the start. There was an element of suspense surrounding the circumstances of Liam becoming Samantha’s guardian, which kept me fully engaged in the story, along with just their overall relationship and chemistry.
“There is a primal need inside me, to serve her, to care for her, and I’m as helpless to the urge as she is.” Total swoon and soooo hot!!!
Liam and Samantha had a back and forth angsty relationship as Liam kept her at arm’s length and as much as he seemed to want her, he would push her away any chance he got. I am still rooting for them as I think they compliment each other and bring out something in each other that they each need.
The book ends with a bit of a surprise so I am definitely excited to dive into book two and see where the story is going to lead and see if Samantha is going to get her HEA… possibly with Liam….I sure hope so!!!
That was a tortuous, sexy slow burn with a cliff hanger!! How dare you Skye Warren!!
You gave us a taste, a deliciously scandalous one, and then dropped a bomb only to say Find Out What Happens Next! All of the bubbling tension kept me on edge and wanting more!
Liam is a damaged, hardened soul who I love! I want to know so much more about him and his brothers (spin off series please!!) He is a broody, overprotective Alpha with a dark past and a secret love for Samantha!
Then there is sweet, violin genius Samantha who has lusted and loved Liam for what feels like forever to her! The history of her father and family is intriguing. This is a complex novel with darker tones that is a very enjoyable read. The age gap and taboo relationship that springs from the warden and his charge added a great dynamic to the story.
The possibility of their forbidden relationship makes the reader only want it more! Liam’s rough and primal approach to sex makes sense for his character. He is a wounded wild animal so some of what he says I would find vulgar for another character in another book works for him! I appreciated the non-sugar coating of feelings and events. It made these two more interesting and intimate.
I am so excited to read what comes next!
Overture was so damn good. I loved it from beginning to end. Skye Warren has a way with words and her romances have the reader falling hard. Overture was no different. It was a sexy slow burn that had my heart beating fast with anticipation.
Overture follows Samantha, a violin prodigy and her guardian Liam. Their relationship is kinda taboo due to the fact that they are both attracted to one another and Liam has been taking care of her since she was 12? So I was intrigued right off the bat and boy was it good. I loved the back and forth between these two. Liam struggled the most with his attraction to Samantha because he feels protective and responsible for her. He beats himself up for the indecent thoughts he has of her. It is a struggle to not touch her every chance he gets. There are so many moments where I was screaming for him to touch her, to kiss her, to love her, and it absolutely killed me. The slow burn is real in this book and I loved it. I also really liked Samantha. Yes, she is innocent and follows the rules. But I love that she is so open with Liam. Once she realizes that he wants her as much as she wants him, she does not hesitate to tell him what she wants. She opened up her heart to him and it was beautiful. But at the same time, she is becoming an adult and she had to make her own decisions regarding her future.
There are some secrets Liam is keeping from Samantha. It adds a bit of suspense and its clear it will have a bigger role in the next book, but I’m very excited to see how everything plays out.
The other thing I loved about this book was the side characters. I loved all of Liam’s siblings. They were so great and funny. I liked the relationship they also had with Samantha. Samantha’s two friends Lainey and Cody were great too.
I can’t even begin to explain how amazing this book was. I loved this romance. It had me on the edge of my seat. I craved for Liam to give in to his desire for Samantha. He is also very tortured and it gets in the way of his relationship with Samantha. If you like a slow burn somewhat forbidden romance, then this is the book for you.
Absolutely breathtaking story. Samantha and Liam’s story is another great read. So well written. Can’t wait to read what comes next.
So this was my first read from Skye Warren. Let me tell you I wasn’t disappointed at all. The way she described Liam and Samantha was amazing. I loved how Skye was able to create violinist and love for her adopted family.
Although I came across Skye Warren through Willow Winters and Corinne Michaels, I am looking forward to reading more from her. I can’t wait to continue to read and complete the series. Definitely worth more than 5*********
I definitely want to read more. Interesting characters and development.
Oh wow! Blown away. My first Skye Warren read, and obviously not my last, because no matter what. I have to finish this trilogy. I loved Liam and Samantha, and taboo or not (yep, definitely taboo, and I did have mixed feelings, I have a teenage daughter after all), they were a wonderful couple, or they could have been if given the chance. A story full of passion, along with I’m sure a little intrigue, which I can only see intensifying in the following books. Samantha may be very sheltered, but she’s strong and independent, and a perfect match for Liam and his macho, domineering ways. I loved all the characters, the story, and the narration curtesy of Teddy Hamilton and Grace Grant.
