This stand-alone was an instant USA Today bestseller! Everyone knows the girl is off limits. But it’s so good to be bad.
There’s this girl… Heidi and I have been trading hungry looks all year, and everything she does makes me smile. But I don’t do girlfriends, and I certainly can’t get involved with the league commissioner’s daughter. I need shots on goal, not a hookup and a widely … on goal, not a hookup and a widely misunderstood paparazzi photo.
Can I resist her, though? The way she teases me should be a game penalty for interference with my libido.
There’s this guy…
Jason wants me, but he won’t admit it. That man looks at me the way a hockey player eyes the lunch buffet after practice—and I love it.
But when victory is finally within my grasp, I blow it and humiliate myself. Even then I can’t even avoid him—as the team intern, I’m in constant view of his hard body and cocky smile.
I need another chance. Jason Castro is about to learn the true meaning of an overnight sensation.
Sarina scores big with this undeniably swoony romance. New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryanmore
Oh this book gave me that giddy feeling and I loved it.
I’m a huge fan of this series and have read every book in it. So when this landed on my tablet, I read it immediately. I loved it and I found myself at multiple moments throughout getting those butterflies and having those heart pounding moments. It’s been a minute since I’ve had a physical reaction to a story and this one definitely got to my emotions.
Whether it was the flirty moments between Jason and Heidi, where they straddle the line but don’t cross it. Or the moments where theses two struggle with pursuing those feeling, Overnight Sensation definitely hit those checklists that I look for in a romance.
Heidi was fun and funny at times, she went after what she wanted and I loved that about her. Jason was protective and sexy. The chemistry with these two was hot and they were adorable together.
Loved it
There’s a reason why Sarina Bowen is one of my top favorite authors to read—she just brings something new and fresh to the table every single time, and it never fails to hit me in all the right places. I’ve always had a soft spot for her Brooklyn Bruisers series ever since Rookie Move, and she just keeps delivering a story that justifies and reinforces that fact. These hockey players and their ladies will undoubtedly melt and steal your heart, but their stories… they’ll certainly strike you deep.
“I’m like a burned-out lightbulb in the middle of the row. I can’t be lit up anymore when I’ve already seen the darkness.”
When I first read about Jason Castro in the previous books of the Brooklyn Bruisers series, I don’t think I could’ve ever imagined him to have this kind of back story. It‘s unexpected and devastating, but it also gives you hope and makes you see and feel that there’s always room for more love in your heart no matter what.
“Loving someone means supporting him without expecting anything in return. It’s making him a sandwich, or standing beside him when he’s facing the worst part of his past. I can be that friend. Even if it hurts.”
And Heidi Jo Pepper… man, she was just something else—sweet, funny and a lot sassy in her own way. Oh, and let’s not forget polite. When Heidi sets her mind on something, she’ll stop at nothing to achieve that. She takes her every ambition to heart and that, in and of itself, is beyond awe-inspiring. I just loved this girl’s spunk and huge heart so much.
“You were a one-night stand. I don’t know how to wrap my head around this.”
“Why don’t you wrap some other things around me while you think about it? Just try me out.”
“Like a free sample?” She squints at me.
“Yeah.” I take her smooth hand and place it right over my erection. “Sample that, if you need convincing.”
Overnight Sensation is definitely all things sexy, quirky and downright delicious, but with every bit of Sarina Bowen’s signature emotional twist, and a tinge of forbidden that will keep you constantly on edge and give you all the damn feels. If you love a good hockey romance, you absolutely need this series in your life!
Sarina is back with her Brooklyn Bruisers and Overnight Sensation is a sensational addition to the sports (hockey) romance scene, with plenty of humor and wit, steamy times and wonderful characters!
With a name like Heidi Jo you can almost picture her before you meet her. Bubbly rich girl, who calls her daddy “Daddy” and wants for nothing. On first impressions she fits the stereotype, and admittedly I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I wouldn’t be only one guilty of making those assumptions of her as it seems members of the Brooklyn Bruisers also came to the same conclusion of her, but it’s nothing being in her company for few minutes didn’t fix.
It’s glaringly obvious how much of a hard worker Heidi is. Strong willed to the point of stubborn, she’s determined to be appointed the position of Office Manager for the team. Her father being the NHL commissioner does not believe it’s a suitable job for his Princess and goes out of his way to assign her roles he hopes will make her reconsider and return to her education.
Her days are long and hard, which is where Jason Castro enters the picture. Heidi has a shameless crush on Castro and none too wisely propositions him whilst under the influence of tequila. Given his dedication to single life and his attraction to Heidi a harmless hook-up looks likely, that is until the hook-up that never was appears to potentially harm his career.
The forbidden element to their friendship was both hilarious and sweet torment. They became a great little duo, intimate in all aspects of their lives but carnal. As the story developed so too did the depth of their affection for one another, and the weaknesses they kept well-hidden became the glue that cemented the transition from friendship to much more.
With a story that has been a long time coming, Castro is anything but an Overnight Sensation. He’s poetic and grounded, and humble in a manner of ways. I enjoyed getting to know him and loved what he brought on and off the ice.
Along with the well-loved members of the team I found it hard to fault any of the characters. The Brooklyn Bruisers series is one that delivers time and time again. I’m hoping Silas’ book is up next up for the Sarina Bowen treatment.
I’ve found that the romances I like the most are the ones that deal with the simple things in life, and Overnight Sensation is another romance from Sarina Bowen that I absolutely adored.
Castro comes off at first as a bit of a player. He’s totally dedicated to his team and his performance but he also has a good heart and a soft spot for Heidi, team intern and daughter of the commissioner. Circumstances make way for Heidi and Castro to spend a lot of time together, and neither one can deny there’s more than just lust sparking between them.
I stayed up all night reading, which I love to do but haven’t had a book grab me hard enough to convince me to give up sleep in some time. Overnight Sensation was wonderful! I’m totally in love with Heidi and Jason… But really — my heart belongs to Heidi Jo… she was fabulous!
There were so many ways I thought that story could have gone, I was still a little surprised at what turned out to be the point of conflict between them. It’s just resolved so beautifully, too.
I love the women in this series. Smart, career-focused, with a good sense of self, they complement their good-hearted hockey-playing men so very well. Overnight Sensation makes me want to go back and re-read the entire series again!
So thanks again for an entertaining read. That’s all a reader can ask for!

Loved this! I was so excited to read Jason and Heidi’s story and I wasn’t disappointed! I loved how Hot Pepper didn’t take no for an answer and kept trying to get Jason to budge! She finally did it and it was explosive! Jason tried so hard to not let the temptation win, but it won! He had a sad past and felt he should remain alone. But These two had great chemistry and persevered. They finally realized they were meant to be together and to work through all their issues together. Now I hope Silas gets his story, I can’t wait to learn more about him!
I love the Bruisers series, hockey goodness with loads of personality. It feels nice growing along with this new team. I know Castro’s laid back personality since the he was featured in other books and he has his charm and appeal. But what we don’t know is why he has stuff he battles and things he holds back from people. I like him and how he relates to the team, they formed a strong bond.
He and Heidi on paper doesn’t seem to fit but they understand one another and although they had a rocky start. Their banter was amusing and poking the one e another even the sore spots. Heidi and the team formed their own relationship which was great to see. The girl is tenacious and resilient, clever and resourceful despite all the challenges her father threw at her. I love how she brought another side in Castro it was fun watching them grow. It took a while but they evolved from crush, to roomies to more. They were a good fit even with the rocky start. Heidi Jo was a great heroine, goes for what she wants and relatable. Castro was so much fun and a good friend.
Sarina Bowen as always has combined hockey, humor and romance in a awesome way. It has you engaged and engrossed in that world. I also have to add this book with Silas and Castro’s cute roomie thing works well and would definitely like to know more about Silas. Bayer too since we saw more of him here, he has a good story. Plus the little details make this one even better!
*5 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first book in this series, but not my first book by Sarina. Heidi and Jason are great main characters, and I really liked how Heidi was a strong female lead. She may be from a rich family, but when her Dad causes problems for her, she rises to the opportunity and shows how strong and resourceful she truly is.
Jason truly cares for her and wants to prove that she’s not just a one night stand. I love the way they click together and how well Heidi fits into the team. Everything rolls really nicely in this book which is always refreshing.
This was a really great read, and a wonderful way to start off 2019. Would recommend.
Overnight Sensation by Sarina Bowen is the fifth book in the Brooklyn Bruisers series and the second one I have read within the series. This was a sports romance with all the feels. Heidi has been interning for the Brooklyn Bruisers and though she is smart and beautiful, she is the commissioner’s daughter. Jason loves his team and the life it affords him. He likes to keep things light and fun and does not do girlfriends.
Jason and Heidi have been dancing around each other for months until one night, everything changes. But she is still the commissioner’s daughter and he has secrets that weigh on him. Though he tries to keep her at arm’s length, eventually they find themselves mixed up with paparazzi mishaps, steamy moments and haunting pasts. Can they find a way to move forward before it all falls apart?
I enjoyed reading Overnight Sensation by Sarina Bowen. Jason had a heart of gold and was so sweet and caring, but his past would not let him move forward. Heidi was sweet and compassionate, even as she struggled to prove herself. I loved both of them and their journey.

You guys!! The Brooklyn Bruiser series is one of my favorite series ever and I was so excited that we were getting Jason Castro’s book!! Gah!! I loved him in the previous books in the series but now we get to be in his head?! JACKPOT!! Overall I thought this book was great and loved the chemistry between Heidi and Castro. It was sexy and flirtyband umm Castro’s dirty mouth? *fans self* – what a delicious surprise. I thought he and Heidi were great together as they brought out the best in one another!
Ok in all honesty, at first I wasn’t sure what to expect from Heidi Jo. Her naivete and zealousness of wanting Jason was a little off putting as times, but like Jason, she wore me down and I frankly found her to be adorable after a while. She was genuine, kind, honest and I began to root for them. Bowen does a fantastic job highlighting the comraderie between both Heidi and the team and Castro and the rest of the Bruisers. The banter in this book was gold and I loved seeing Heidi come into her own and Jason coming to terms with his painful past.
All in all this was another wonderful addition to the series and I for one can not wait to see what happens (if anything) between Silas and a certain pop star! Bravo! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula
A new hockey romance from Sarina Bowen??? HELL YES! Do not miss Overnight Sensation!
Sarina Bowen has just published her first hockey book in a year! A cocky player vs. the league commissioner’s daughter. He knows he shouldn’t. But it’s so good to be bad…

Happy reading!
I love the Brooklyn Bruisers’ series; each book holds humor, great banter, and sexual tension, as well as a side dish of serious.
Jason Castro is the funny guy, the ladies man, the kind of guy people love to be around. Because his guilt and emotional baggage are too heavy, Jason has become a pro at concealing his dark side. He has mastered the art of avoiding intimacy. But when the league commissioner’s daughter, Heidi, sets her sights on him, he quickly realizes, spending time with Heidi is easier than avoiding her.
She’s like a beam of sunshine. And my cloudy ass could really use some of that.
Heidi is feisty, whip-smart and hungry. Hungry for success and hungry for Jason Castro. Her daddy may have decided an internship with the Brooklyn Bruisers isn’t good enough for her, but she’s out to prove him wrong and along the way, prove to Jason that she’s right for him.
Bowen is a pro at showing vulnerability in her men, and strength in her women (two of my favorite character traits), thereby, perfectly balancing out the funny with the serious in her stories.
If you love witty banter, a good laugh and thoughtful moments, grab ‘Overnight Sensation’, you won’t be disappointed!
I don’t think I will ever tire of Sarina Bowen’s Brooklyn Bruisers series! I have enjoyed every single book (though I don’t think anyone will ever top Nate in my heart *swoon*) and her writing is always sexy, fun, and heartfelt. Though this is book 5 in the series, this slightly forbidden/friends to lovers-ish romance can be enjoyed as a standalone. Characters from the previous books do appear, however, and that is where our hero and heroine initially meet.
Oh, Castro. My heart totally went out to him and his broken soul. He was such a cuddly teddy bear under all the bluster and dirty talk. His insecurities and fears made so much sense once his past was revealed and I ached for the 18 year old boy he once was. Heidi came across naive and flighty at first, but she had the greatest character growth and really came into her own through the course of the book. I loved how she faced every new job and challenge and didn’t back down. She complemented Castro really well and I loved their banter and chemistry. There is some angst and push and pull as they struggle with their feelings and budding relationship, but I liked that it was resolved almost as quickly as it began. It really let the growth of each character really shine. I did feel like things with Heidi’s father wrapped up a little abruptly (considering how hard and critical he was throughout the book), and I would have loved an epilogue a little down the road. Some seeds were planted for sweet goalie Silas, however, and I really hope that we get his book in the future. If that happens, I have a feeling he will give my beloved Nate a run for his money!
*I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*
Sarina Bowen has a super power, which is writing wonderful stories about good characters.
This is a new installment of the Brooklyin Bruisers series and it is about Jason Castro and Heidi Jo.
They are young but have a been through a lot in their own way and he is dealing with a heartbreak loss that is so sad. But, nevertheless, they deal with their problems with good nature and maturity.
This is an incredibly well written story that you will catch your attention and you will not put it down until the end.
I just loved this book!
5 Star Review of Overnight Sensation (Brooklyn Bruisers #5) by Sarina Bowen
This is the 5th book in the series and is Jason Castro and Heidi ‘s story. I love a good hockey romance and Overnight Sensation is exactly that. Sarina Bowen weaves a story that will draw you in and hook you.
Although I have read several books by Sarina Bowen, this is my first book in this particularly series. I had no issues reading as a stand alone, although I will now be going back and reading the previous books in the series as soon as time allows.
The attraction between Heidi and Jason is there, but Jason is determined not to get burnt, which means keeping Heidi at a distance, no matter how much he wants her. After all her father is an NHL commissioner and he is a NHL player.
Heidi is a strong, independent and feisty woman woman who is not afraid of hard work and going after what or who she wants. She knows she shouldn’t become involved with Jason but she cannot help herself.; she is drawn to him, like a moth to a flame.
Jason is swoon worthy. I loved his relationships with the players and particularly with Silas (I cannot wait for HIS story). He wasn’t afraid to let his vulnerable side show and that just made him even more attractive to me.
The characters were engaging and I really enjoyed the banter between them. There is no denying that the chemistry between Jason and Heidi simply sizzles and Overnight Sensation had me smiling, laughing and swooning. A well written story that I recommend you one click, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Book 5 in the Brooklyn Bruisers Series and this is Jason and Heidi’s story, this series is one of my favourite hockey romances and I loved catching up with the guys from the Brooklyn Bruisers but that being said this book can be read and is designed to be a stand-alone.
Heidi has been interning for the Bruisers and she has caught Jason’s eye problem is he doesn’t do relationships and she should be off limits as she is the NHL Commissioner’s daughter….
This book was so much fun, I loved Heidi and her no nonsense I can do anything attitude and what can I say about the hot swoon worthy Jason who also has a wicked sense of humour apart from the fact these two are perfect for each other if they can only get their acts together at the same time. If you love sports romance and you are looking for a book with plenty of witty banter, loveable characters with some scorching hot chemistry going on this is your next read because once again this very talented author manages to show us the fun side as well as the vulnerable side of her characters which to me adds a whole new dimension to what already starts off as a great read. Looking forward to more from the hockey team from Brooklyn.

I have to admit that I only read 2 Brooklyn Bruisers books before this one. One was the one right before this one: Brooklynaire – which I loved! And then I obviousely read the amazing True North Series – of which Bountiful had a Bruisers player in it too!
So now here is Heidi and Jason’s book.
I really love Heidi! With her adorable accent! I tried reading her scenes in an accent – very talent-free I have to admit!
And Castro is just as adorable! Poor guy. So attracted to this off-limits girl!
I love his friendship with his room mate Silas. Can’t wait to get his book with the pop star!!!
And as if Heidi being the daughter of the league’s boss was not bad enough – poor Jason also has some sad mysteries in his past that make him think he will never fall in love again.
Plus he’s not really playing his best hockey at the moment, but he really wants to stay with the team…
And poor Heidi? With her idiot daddy! She sooo wants Rebecca’s old job working for the team, but her dad wants her to go back to college.
Lots and lots of things to overcome until we can ride off into a happily ever after sunset!
Such an adorable story!
I’m not the biggest hockey romance fan – that’s why I’m so late to join this series!
But I really love what I’ve seen so far!
I love the team, the owners, the players, the atmosphere.
And of course Heidi and Jason. They so belong together, but it’ll be really hard to get to that happy end!
But we love every second of their journey!
The book was funny, sad, heartbreaking, sweet, hockey-ish, Brooklyn-ish … and so much more!
I’m sad to not have started this series with book #1 – I hope I’ll find time to read them all one day! #MegaBusyReadingCalendarBloggerLife
