She was not asked. She was claimed.Sloan has lived among shifters long enough to know what happens when an alpha takes a mate, but she never imagined that her turn would come to be marked and mastered. Until today…Today Gareth of Ravenscar decided she was his, and she wasn’t given a choice in the matter. Now, with her cheeks blushing, her bottom burning, and the evidence of his rough conquest … evidence of his rough conquest still dripping down her bare thighs, she is beginning to understand what it truly means to be claimed.
Publisher’s Note: Overlord is a stand-alone novel set in the same world as Warlord. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

This book is a continuation of the Dark Shifter World Delta wrote Alaric and Rowan’s story in. Sloan is an interesting character as she is not a warrior like Rowan, however she is not a wimp by any means. Garreth is a loyal and understanding Alpha while still holding Sloan to the standard he knows she is.
Delta James does an amazing job to demonstrating an Alpha who expects obidence at the same time does not diminish a person’s spirit! Delta weaves this story together seamlessly and has you captured and enraptured from the get go! If you don’t mind a little bit of non con the. This book is HOT and ENTHRALLING!
This author has once again, written an enthralling & fascinating shifter romance with some dark undertones. It runs concurrently with a previously published book “Warlord” with some character crossovers but can be read as a standalone. It has a well-paced story-line & a strong plot filled with unexpected occurrences & events. The characters are strong-willed individuals with unique personalities & each of them either display a determination to succeed or defiance to avoid the inevitable future. There is good support from the secondary characters.
It is about: a feisty human female (Sloan) who tries her best to avoid an alpha (Gareth) of Ravenscar but he has decide that Sloan belongs to him & will claim & keep her.
There is: wolf shifters, humans, friendship, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, adventure, action, devious plans, threats, danger, conflict, violence, attraction, fated mates, manipulations, denial, emotional turmoil, defiance, devious plans, escape attempts, coercion, humiliation, discipline, anguish, spankings, steamy scenes, contentment & a well-deserved happy conclusion.
I would recommend this shifter romance to people who enjoy reading this genre.
I like the whole fated mate concept, but Gareth and Sloan’s story felt different to me. Sloan didn’t seem to be as strategic as Rowan was in the previous book. Yet, I did like her strength, intelligence, and feistiness.
Given the circumstances, I could understand Sloan’s hosility, but it seemed much easier for Gareth to track her down because she didn’t think her plans completely through.
One question is why would Gareth decide to knot and tie Sloan when the enemy was approaching? It didn’t seem like this book was as long as some of the others, although I didn’t check page counts.
I would have been happy with more detail regarding Edwyn and his army, how Alaric knew Gareth didn’t have a beta, or even how Sloan figured out she was set up.
This book can be read as a standalone, but I think you will get more out of it by reading Warlord first. If some of the themes offend you, I would suggest you take a pass on this book. It will be interesting to see how Ruari and Arielle’s book turns out. She doesn’t have the survival skills of either Rowan or Sloan.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received from the author.
ONE DELECTABLE JOURNEY!!!
Extremely enticing! Delta mesmerizes with this satisfying block busting bombshell with all the protective, possessive, alpha male deliciousness you can handle. She not only hit the motherload, she blasted the vault wide open in this delightfully, delectable wild ride. A swirling multitude of vexing circumstances and surprising events that leave you breathless, craving more. Pushing forward through the trials and tribulations along with a horde of twists and turns fuse this bad boy together beautifully. A spinning, twisting vortex of inadvertent happenstance and unforseen mishaps propels your spinning emotions into play fluidly. The drama, angst, intrigue, danger and suspense blaze through melding this bad boy together one jagged piece at a time. The chemistry is intense, sizzling and combustible. The characters personalities are authentic and realistic with traits and qualities that blend with one another in a perfect balance. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions you have no problem picturing each scenario creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Fantastic job Delta, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Fated Mates
Overlord
Enjoyed reading Garth and Sloans book .
The alpha of Ravenscar, the brother of Alaric who is mated Rowan.
Nice that it started where Warlord ended.
Love how the alpha’s tame there fated mates . Even when they want to resist the alpha call.
Sloan was a human taken in by Rowan . When she was caught stealing because of her circumstance.
Garth thought he would get mild she-wolf again . But fates had something else in mind.
Excited to read the next book in this series. Love the dark erotic shifter romance.
This one click ebook. For everyone that loves shifter spanking and hot romance.
Gareth recognizes Sloane as his fated mate. Sloane is very brave and courageous as the alpha mistress of Ravenscarr. Good book, well written!

I love this second book in the new series. It is amazing. I will admit that I thought that the mate for Gareth was Arielle. I laughed when I saw how wrong I was! It was Sloan who is his fated mate. Gareth, of course, is an overbearing male who will get his way no matter what. I do love these great male characters. Of course, their whole book is basically Sloan accepting that she is Gareth’s fated mate with a lot of action thrown in. Just the way I like it! I hope the next book is about Ruari and Arielle. There is a HEA.
I will tell you, I was saddened at the close of the Wayward Mates series. It had a unique twist to shape – shifters and some great world – building. I wanted more but understood that DJ had done everything she wanted with the characters. I was still hopefully it wasn’t the end of that world.
I was so happy when “Warlord” came out and now this followup. At first, you don’t know what time in history the story is taking place – before or after the Wayward Mates series. The world seems to hints of Renaissance times, but then Garth drops the bomb that his ancestor was Shea (one of the Fated mates from the Wayward Mates series) and then I just geek out. This world is like post-apocalyptic. I’m so intrigued to get more bread crumbs as to what happened in the past.
Storywise, Sloan is a fighter and a firecracker. She isn’t going to be told what to do or by who, even if it is by an arrogant alpha intent on proving she is his fated mate. He may steal her humanity and her body’s reactions, but will he ever steal this little thief ‘s heart as she has stolen his? I can’t wait for the next one.

Loved this story. It is well written, entertaining and holds your attention. Gareth finds his fated mate in Sloan, who is human and does not want to be mated to anyone. As much as she fights the mating, Gareth is determined to claim her. There is a lot of danger, excitement and intrigue in this book and it is told in such a way that it is intriguing causing you to want to find out what happens next. As this is a continuation of Warlord, this book is equally a great read. I would highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Hopefully, the next book will feature Ruari and Arielle.
I loved Warlord and Overlord, the second book in the series, is even better – in my opinion. It has all the elements of Delta’s books; good story, great characters, kick ass heroine, steamy sex, romance and humor. You can read it as a stand alone but I think you’ll get more out of it if you’ve read Warlord first. And if you’ve read the Wayward Mates series you’ll find some little links to the past.
