I had started this book a while ago but put it down a for some reason and found it again on the 27th of June. I can’t believe I didn’t finish it the first time I read! Full of emotion but with a sassy heroine who made me laugh, this book had it all. Sass, alpha, suspense and emotions. I’ll be reading more!
Even reading this book for the 2nd time I’m struck by how much I love Jude and Gabby together. Separate they are great people….Loving with their family, loyal to everyone they are close with and just all around good people. Together they are amazing. I have serious couples envy with them.
There was just enough suspense to keep me guessing and the shenanigans of the Carpino clan had me laughing a lot. Every time Jude called Gabby “Sugar” I think I swooned a bit. The banter was off the charts and so well written. The storyline flowed and I didn’t want it to end. I seriously love this book.
This was the first book I ever read by this author. I loved these characters and know I want to keep reading every book she’s written. Once you start this book you won’t be able to put it down. It has everything from drama, action, intrigue and suspense. Great book.
Jude meets Gabby while he is investigating a gun smuggler. There is something about her that he can’t figure out but refuses to leave her alone when he finds out she has been threatened.
Gabby is an accountant but does interior decorating. She lives alone with her dog Mia after losing her parents. She has a huge family for support.
They struggle with ups and downs to figure out how to make this relationship work with all the bumps that come along.
Overflow~
Jude and Gabby will steal your heart, they were made for each other. This was my third book from Brynne Asher, she is now my go to for everything she writes.
Overflow was everything I could hope for.
I really enjoyed this book by a new author! The writing was great, very funny and witty, with a well thought out plot. It flowed smoothly and was paced really well, I was never bored and read this very quickly. It definitely has a strong KA feel to it but with the author’s own flare. Both Jude and Gabby were very, very likable. Jude was bossy but sweet, which is the best kind of alpha Hero there is. Gabby was great, too and her family will be interesting to continue to read about.
I can’t wait for more from this author!
When I took a chance on a new author, I wasn’t expecting the book to grab me from the first chapter, but this book did exactly that. Gabby and Jude meet thanks to a case of mistaken identity while he’s working a case, and Jude takes that chance to bring Gabby fully into the land of the living.
Gabby’s been going through the motions for years because she lost her family, and even her cousins and best friends can’t seem to break through. It takes Jude, a bossy FBI agent, to force her into really opening her eyes to the entire world and to learn to live life to the fullest again.
Between the suspense, drama, and laughable situations (house issues and her over-protective cousin, to name a few), this book was a quick read and had me interested from beginning to end.
You know how sometimes you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time? Yeah, but I think in this case she was in the right place at the right time…not sure, you be the judge. Gabby aka Sugar is at a friends house finishing up an interior design job when the FBI raids the house…and she meets sexy shit-hot Jude. Psst, that shit-hot description was how he was described in the book…I know, I know, you’re welcome. So, now do you believe she was at the right place at the right time? Oh, you have no idea. Brynne Asher writes some of my all time favorite alpha men, I should know, I called dibs on most of them, and there may be a picture floating around, and now Jude, because I’m a selfish hero hoarder that has extremely great taste in men. This is the start of a fantastic read with all the twist and turns of a Brynne Asher book, so damn good. Jude kinda inserts himself in her life and I love it, because I think he pretty much catches her off guard being so “bossy”, her words, not mine. He knows what he wants and doesn’t hesitate to go after it, and that my peeps is our sassy and adorable Gabby.
Safe read with a shit ton of heat. Fantastic storyline, with a lot of suspense. A huge, hilarious, loud, ornery, but lovable family, hers. Lots of favorites in this series already. Not gonna lie, you know Jude is crazy about her, and even after he meets her family…and keeps coming back. He pretty much handles her, and I loved it. Jude is such a great guy, protective, thoughtful, territorial, sweet and the calm to her storm for sure. These two were total relationship goals for me. Great epilogue and an hea.
Oh and kudos for mentioning the University of Kansas…oh, and the Chiefs too…..just sayin.
Overflow is the debut novel of Brynne Asher, and after having heard about it from a group on Goodreads, I decided to give it a shot. I’m so glad I did because this was a great debut. With hints of Kristen Ashley, Ms. Asher drew me into a story of love, loss, family, crime, and even a dash of humor.
Summary:
Gabrielle Carpino has a large loving family, good friends, and a job she enjoys, but none of that seems to touch the sadness and grief she carries in her heart. When tragedy struck her family, Gabby decided to close herself off from actually living life, and now just goes through the motions. Looking at the future brings to mind all she’s lost in her past, so living a mundane day to day life with only mild happiness is her norm. Mundane becomes a thing of the past when Gabby is unknowingly thrown into the middle of a whole mess of craziness. The beginning of her excitement begins when she innocently drops by a clients home for finishing touches, but quickly becomes embroiled in a situation that includes her being cuffed and patted down for weapons. It doesn’t help that the agent doing the patting is Jude Ortiz. Jude is tall, dark, and handsome with a commanding presence and an air of mystery that Gabby finds herself being drawn to. For Jude, Gabby is a woman unlike any he’s ever met, and the first woman to gain his undivided attention in a very long time. Thinking he’d like to get to know her better, Jude gets his chance when Gabby’s put in some danger resulting from the previous situation. As Jude’s protective nature rises to the surface, he finds himself feeling things he hasn’t in years, and moves in to keep watch over Gabrielle. Keeping her safe becomes an experience what with her crazy family butting in, desperate criminals on the loose, marathon shopping trips, flooded basements, and fantasy football. Just as Jude and Gabby start seeing happiness in a future together, demons from both their pasts come back and threaten to rip apart what they have before it really even begins. While Jude determinedly fights those demons back, Gabby is surprised to learn about events in Jude’s past that may prevent her from getting the happy she so desperately yearns for.
I really enjoyed Gabby. Experiencing the loss that she did could have changed her in bad ways, but she was very loving, loyal, and hard working. She was funny, smart, beautiful, and talented. I loved her relationship with her family, and found the Carpinos to be a blast. Jude was amazing. I love a good alpha, and Jude was definitely one I’ll remember. His bossy nature was sweet instead of annoying, and his protectiveness of Gabby made me swoon. I found myself listening to Nickleback several times to get a feel for his voice. Lol. Supporting cast was wonderful, especially the Carpino clan and Gabby’s friends. I only wish we had gotten some expansion on the situation with Conner since we didn’t get to see it play out. How did Jude handle that then and well into the future? Also, the meeting with Gabby and Rick Ortiz was a bit intense, now I think for obvious reasons, but I kind of wish we had seen a bit more interaction with Jude’s family. Overall, I really liked the story. For a debut, it was very well put together. I think I might have wanted a tie to Pope thrown in a bit sooner, but it wasn’t horrible without it. I’m looking forward to Tony’s story next, and getting to see Ms. Asher grow in her talent. <3
What a fantastic read! Gabby & Jude’s story is full of a fun, sweet romance. There’s also some drama woven in from Gabby being in danger, and the supporting cast is written wonderfully! Oh, and there’s a puppy! : )
This is book one in the series (I read book 3 first, whoops!). I really love this writing style – ALPHA guy, sassy & smart heroine (altho there are a lot of tears, but they’re totally justified tears, not whiny tears) & GREAT banter! Love it!! : )
I love Jude and Gabby! Gabby is a girl after my own heart who is girly and tends to ramble. I love how Jude handled her throughout the novel. I’m all about a protective, alpha male hero and Jude fit the bill. Well written for Brynne’s first ever book and I loved the duel POV. I had guessed early on what had happened in Jude’s past, but loved seeing it all play out since this is one of my favorite tropes.
I absolutely loved the story of Jude and Gabby. Jude is the book boyfriend all of the readers will be fighting over….alpha, sweet, bossy, loving, hero, good looks, tattoos….he’s got it all….along with a bit of a broken past. Gabby is full of sass and independence and the girl we’d all like to be friends with…..she’s kind, family oriented, caring, loving and has had her share of heart ache and is afraid to believe Jude is there to stay. Love the suspense that this author sprinkles in her book and adored the ending!
Gabby and Jude are phenomenal!
Gabby has lost her parents and an ignorant man so close together that she’s never recovered, but when she unwittingly falls into the FBI’s hands she meets a man who might be too good to be true.
Jude has his own secrets and fears, but he just can’t walk away from Gabby. Even as he’s trying to protect her, Gabby falls into and out of trouble so fast he can’t keep up with her.
Throughout mystery after mystery, Gabby and Jude fall deeper and deeper in a story sweeter than many I’ve read in a long time. When Gabby is accosted by Jude’s long held secret can she accept it as is or will they completely fall apart?
An excellent story with twists and turns no one can see coming, I’m in love with Brynne Asher’s hot, sexy slow burn romance.
I loved Jude and Gabby. I have read the 3rd book in this series so many tines I figured it was time to read from the start and am glad I did. This author does an amazing job when it comes to alpha hero’s. He was so over the top hot that I didn’t want it to end. Gabby had a great back bone that I admired. The plot was a fast pace and a lot of stuff happened but i was never pulled out of the overall story. The secondary characters were great. I can’t wait to finally reads Tony’s whole story and see him get a HEA. #2OCCJD
Jude and Gabby will steal your heart. I loved their story and the sweet slow build of their relationship.
Brynne writes alpha males with enough sweet in them to make you swoon. Highly recommend this book.
This book took me to my happy place. I love reading a book where the guy is hot, possessive and bossy and the girl loves it but would never admit it to him until…….Jude is smoking and Gabby can’t figure out why she reacts the way she does. It’s called Insta Attraction.
This book has all kinds of action and the drama just keeps coming, pulling you into the book and uncovering all kinds of feels. It will have you holding your breath to see what is going to happen next.
I loved the main characters and the secondary characters left you with the thought maybe they would have their own story.
I love when I discover new authors and Brynne Asher is a wonderful discovery for me and I am happy to recommend this book/series to anyone over the age of 18
This was my first read by this author and I am definitely going back for more. This is Jude and Gabrielle’s story. Gabby is an interior decorator that gets herself into the middle of a criminal investigation while helping a friend decorate her laundry room. She is detained for questioning by the sexy FBI agent Jude. Their story is fun, nailbiting at some parts but not to be missed.
Gabby is an interior decorator, not designer don’t mess it up, with a huge, crazy Italian family. After decorating her friend’s laundry room, the FBI and ATF come barging in, hand cuff her, and pat her down. Jude Ortiz is the FBI agent that pat her down, and then barges his way into her life when she could be in even more danger. Jude, with his police get up, ability to put Gabby in a Jude coma with his kisses, and his bossy-ness, not-so-slowly moves into Gabby’s life and home, protecting her and going out of his mind with worry. Because as much as Gabby likes Jude’s bossy behavior, she still gets her way when she wants to.
This book started out slow. So slow, I was seriously worried if I would be able to finish it. I loved Gabby and Jude almost from the beginning, but because Gabby is an interior decorator, it seemed the first chapter was dedicated to just the laundry room Gabby had designed. Gabby’s eye for detail certainly made her job a profitable one, but the paragraphs dedicated to just how a room looked, were not for me. I bullied through, and I am so glad that I did. Gabby and Jude’s love story is one that I don’t think I will ever be able to get over. It has the perfect amount of struggle and darkness, and tons of comedy to keep it light, and fun.
