Triumph over adversity using proven Special Operations habits and mindsets with this inspiring guide from retired Navy SEAL and New York Times bestselling author Jason Redman. Adversity can often catch you by surprise and leave you struggling with what to do next. What if you could confront any adversity, from the biggest challenges — the loss of your job, divorce, health issues, bankruptcy — … the loss of your job, divorce, health issues, bankruptcy — to normal daily challenges — a late flight, a disappointing phone call, a missed promotion, a bad day — and not just survive it, but thrive afterwards?
Redman was horrifically wounded in Iraq in 2007 when he was shot at close range through the face and arm. After 40 surgeries, including extensive facial reconstruction and skin grafts, he came back from this experience stronger than ever — despite carrying scars and injuries he will have for the rest of his life. Redman went on to launch two successful companies and speaks all over the country on how to build better leaders through his Overcome mindset.
Overcome is based on extensive research and interviews with America’’s toughest warriors, including retired 4-star Admiral William McRaven, retired Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, retired 4-star General Stanley McChrystal, and others. In this book, Redman teaches:

I received a digital copy of this book with no expectations in return. The opinions above are my own.
Excellent book. Author Jason Redman shares how experiences in his life helped him to help others. This book encourages and inspires from the first page. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
This is a powerful, encouraging book that calls us to look to examples from those who have fought great battles before us so we can glean support from their experiences. Jason Redman is an overcomer himself, having survived being wounded in Iraq during his time as a Navy Seal.
Redman shares how readers can overcome adversity with proven mindsets and truly takes time to not only share his story, but stories of others who stand victorious in the face of setback or adversity. I truly enjoyed this heartfelt, but challenging book.
This would be a great read for anyone who is struggling with something they feel is difficult to conquer, which could be all of us. Don’t miss this uplifting read!
I was an early reader, thanks to Center Street Publishers. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a review.
I met Jason earlier this year at a work event where he gave a talk on the “X”. Shortly after I read The Trident and now, Overcome. What I was looking for in the book is “teach me something I don’t know” as opposed to so many “motivational” style books. This book is not one of them—instead I learned real, hard-lives examples of what it is to truly have “a bad day” and how to overcome that, as the book is titled. As a former Marine I have had the price ledge of encountering the best leaders America has not offer and Jason is no exception. Jason shows genuine humility in showing how he overcame life’s “bad days.” Now on a personal note: I have met this man and listened to his story and have been a witness to a true leader. He is no doubt the real deal and as genuine as they come. Many of my colleagues are veterans who attended the event with Jason and they too, validate him. Semper Fidelis!
Leadership development is a subject I’ve been interested in for many years. In the past I’ve been able to help people learn how to be better leaders, so I’m always ready to hear what others have to say about leadership. Overcome is a powerful book. It made me uncomfortable in a good way because it made me look at myself. And the conclusion I came to is I am stuck on the “X,” but I don’t have to stay there. I think there’s a lot of practical information in the book, but it does require you to examine yourself and accept responsibility for making the changes you need to make to get unstuck. The stories are interesting and inspiring, and the exercises will expose areas you can improve to be a better leader.
