Goodreads Choice Awards Finalist Stevie J. Cole brings you a story of the ultimate tortured rock star and his one true love.I fell for the boy who wore second-hand clothes and wrote love notes to me on gum wrappers. But that boy was destroyed when he became Spencer Hailstorm, the lead singer of the multiplatinum rock band, Midnite Kills. Devoured. Digested. And spat out in designer clothing. … designer clothing.
Fame was a four-letter word that slowly killed every part of me, every part of him. Each last piece of us. We may have parted ways, but I never got over him. And right now, he’s at my front door saying he never got over me. . .

This turned out to be quite an enjoyable little read. It was a fairly short book, so I whizzed through it in under two hours. I think I would have liked it to be a little longer though. A little more development of their early relationship, and a little more fleshing out of the story after he gets clean. We spend a good portion of this book with them apart (a year and a half??), and I felt that part of the story was unnecessarily long. Spencer’s parade of bad decisions got a little tiresome to read about after a while. Then when he finally decides to get clean, it all fell into place a bit too easily and quickly. (IMO)
Those issues aside, I still thought it was a great story. It isn’t often you find a rock star book with no OW drama. Oh, there were still groupies that touched him and propositioned him, but he stayed faithful to Georgia. So that was a bonus.
“—but fame was a four-letter word, a virus that was slowly killing every part of me, every part of him. Each last piece of us.”
My rockstar addiction struck again and I couldn’t pass up the chance to read this story. Knowing in advance that it was a second-chance romance I knew that I would probably have to deal with a broken heart after the ‘first’ chance. And I was right..
The story starts in the middle, or the beginning of the end if you will. I really enjoyed the way the author took me back and showed me glimpses of their beginning and what made them fall in love as teenagers. It made the heartbreak even more painful when it wasn’t enough. Their love was so strong, and the fall was so far.
The author didn’t write a fantasy driven insta-love bad boy rocker meets good girl next door and they live happily ever after. Nope, their story isn’t a fairy tale. He might have rescued her back then, but he was no knight in shining armor now. He couldn’t get more tarnished than he ended up being as his band rose to stardom. Sometimes getting everything you ever wanted is not enough.
“Any idiot knows love doesn’t just go away. It morphs maybe, possibly even into hate, but a person can only hate someone they loved. And the way I saw it, hate was the heart’s defense mechanism.”
I absolutely loved it!
Whether you’ve been in love or hope to be someday, this book will make you believe in the power of true love. What a much better place our world would be if couples standing before God and man, vowing to love until “death do us part” would actually hold to that vow and the strength of their love. This book is not my favorite by this author, but the principle behind it; the struggle to stay true to the their love, their marriage vows, their commitment to only each other, thru the good, the bad and the truly ugly has a good message. I’ve never struggled with addiction, so I struggled with reading of Spencer’s addiction and how far he allowed it to consume his life, but the last half of the book grabbed me and i was cheering for Spenser and Georgia Anne!
Gripping and captivating story! This intense and emotional story had me totally engrossed from beginning to end.
Smart, bold and flawlessly written, this is a second chance romance delving into the good the bad and the ugly parts of rock stardom!
Fast paced quick read, this is Georgia and Stevie’s journey who’ve been sweethearts and soulmates since age 17. But his demons took him down a rabbit hole that no one could pull him out of. Georgia does what she must do and the result is a powerful and emotional story as she copes and deals with his demons.
Are second chances worth it?
You’ll have to read and find out!

I do not think I knew what I was getting into when I started this book. It was a quick second chance romance done differently.
Spencer and Georgia have been together since high school and before the fame. They love each other and have been each other’s strengths through their difficult childhoods. Spencer hits it big and becomes a famous rockstar. The fame becomes too much and their relationship comes to a breaking point.
I thought that the book could have been longer. I wished the story was developed more of the early relationship, less of Spencer’s horrible decisions, and more of the development of the clean relationship. There was great potential if the story was better developed I felt it was short and parts were skimmed over.
Love is an addiction we all fall victim to, and it’s the only addiction with the power to heal.
Stevie J. Cole I love you and hate you in the same breath! I just finished Over You and the angst..oh the angst..I couldn’t breathe!! I felt she is choking me with all the emotions! My heart felt so heavy and I felt like crying and throwing something all the time! And that is NIRVANA for me as a reader. A story of strength, regrets, heartbreaks and every damn thing! After I finished it, I did the only thing my heart wanted to do. I cried big fat ugly tears. I cried for Spencer and Georgia Anne. I cried for all the chances I never had and the regrets I hide. The tears for the mistakes and the redemptions. Read this book. Please.
Spencer Hailstorm. Rockstar extraordinaire. Who breaks heart of millions of women in each breath. But only one can break his heart and save it. Georgia Anne. His young love, his saving grace, his lover and his life. But fame is a merciless trial. He is dragged under drugs and addiction. And even Georgia cannot save her. She needs to leave everything toxic and save herself. This is a breathtaking second chance love story that will resonate deeply with you.
Stevie J.Cole is the queen of angst. She pours her blood, sweat and tears in her writing. I could feel all the emotions flowing inside me. This should tell you how great this story is. This is honest raw life in all its gory ugly details. The best kind of love is never easy. She expressed the heartbreaks perfectly. The ending made me cry in happiness once again. I love Spencer with all his imperfections, mistakes ,dedication and intensity. I love Georgia Anne with all her strength and vulnerability. This was just amazing.
Received ARC for Honest Review
‘Over you’ is the first book that I read from Stevie J. Cole. I love reading rock star books and second chance romance stories and when I read in a review that there was also no cheating involved, I was immediately intrigued by the story so I had to read it.
‘Over you’ is a story about a young married couple Spencer and Georgia. Spencer’s lifelong dream has come true. He and his music band are famous and wanted by everyone. But sadly, the dream also has a dark side, Spencer has develop a drug addiction. And although Georgia loves her husband very much, she has come to a point in her life where she can’t take it anymore. It hurts too much to lose Spencer more and more to the drugs. So Georgia makes the hard decision to leave him. Spencer doesn’t want to lose her but fighting an addiction is hard. Can they find each other again or has Spencer’s addiction destroyed everything between them??
For me this story felt a bit different than other rock star stories that I have read and I found it in a way refreshing. Because this is a story about a couple that love each other very much but are fighting a battle against an addiction and that is very hard. It’s a fight that never ends, that you have to fight every day again and again. I really felt for Spencer and Georgia, you really felt their love and their heartbreak and I loved the fact that Spencer stayed faithful to Georgia the whole time.
The story is told from both POV’s and for me the story felt like a ‘light’ but emotional story.
I would have loved some more interaction between the couple, to see a bit more how everything was between them before Spencer’s addiction (but that’s my personal view). I was very happy with how the story ended. Realistic but hopeful.
“Spencer’s eyes were like fire in water, a deep blue that made me want to lose myself in him, but I knew, the second I did, I’d end up with third-degree burns.”
I felt Georgia’s pain so hard!! I didn’t like Spencer throughout most of the book, but I was powerless to him anyway. Although I did spend quite a bit of time yelling at my kindle to these two and kinda cheering for when she put her foot down, I’ll completely admit, I did switch my thinking toward the end. But…ooooooh he made me so mad at times, so the Author did a great job with that, because obviously that was the point. But, ultimately, you can feel the once-in-a-lifetime love these two share, and the ton of obstacles in their way, that I had no idea if they would overcome. It was an angst fest and entertaining as all get out!! I felt like I was fighting right along side of them, and inhaled this one in a few hours. I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

“Georgia Anne was a salvation for my heart and an enemy to my addiction.”
Author Stevie J. Cole delivers yet another heart-wrenching, angst-filled, and compelling novel. Over You is beautifully written, realistic, and highly emotional. This poignant and affecting novel will make you laugh, bring you to tears, and steal your heart from its first pages.
Spencer Hailstrom is both the savior and living nightmare of Georgia Anne’s heart. With nothing to give but themselves, they took on the world together. But Georgia never wanted the rockstar, the god, but the man. Georgia Anne is strong, brave, and a survivor, but love has made her blind. After the temptations of the music world have left only remnants of the Spencer she new behind, Georgia does the only thing she can to protect her heart. She leaves.
“I’d promised her I’d clean up. She had promised she’d never leave. Drugs and love had made liars of us both.
Even in the throws of addiction, Spencer’s loyalty to Georgia is steadfast. His love for her never wavers or fades no matter how much of himself the drugs mask. Georgia Anne tells herself she’s moved on all while reinforcing the walls around her heart, yet the love between these too remains intense and all-consuming. Even so, the drugs have stolen Spencer’s will to change and all Georgia has left are broken promises and tomorrows. Will Spencer finally keep his promise, or will the drugs steal every part of him? Read Over You today, and find out!
Stevie J. Cole is exceptional at bringing her characters emotions to life, in a way that my heart ached for Georgia & Spencer while reading Over You. You feel Georgia’s heart’s battle, you know her struggle, and you feel the pain she carries. You also feel Spencer’s desire to be better, you experience his fight, and his misery over sub sequential failures. This book was painfully realistic, moving, and raw. It’s angsty and entirely unputdownable. One-click and read this touching novel today! Enjoy xo
This rockstar romance is absolutely raw and heart-wrenching at times. You will feel heartache, despair, hope, and love. The author dives head first into Spencer’s drug addiction. It is detailed and she does an amazing job of showing how addiction can rule one’s life and harm those you love the most in the process.
“I would rather die than live without you.”
“I’d rather live without you than watch you die.”
Spencer and Georgia had difficult pasts and the two found love and married young. They had big hopes and dreams, bucket lists, and worked hard trying to help Spencer make it in the music world. How can one have everything he ever dreamed of and yet be miserable?
Georgia is a great character. The author shows how deeply she loves Spencer and how difficult it was to both be and be without him. Spencer, even though has he was held captive in the abyss of drugs, felt lost without Georgia and he has a sweetness about him when it came to her. Watching Spencer battle his addiction was tough to read as I wanted to reach into the book, hug him and get him through everything all while saying “No, Spencer! Please don’t!”
In addiction to Georgia, I loved the secondary characters as well. Lottie is a great friend to Georgia. I am also curious to see if Nash, Leo, and Lottie get their own books. My first book by this author was Jag and he is present in few scenes – this is before he was with Roxy – so now I want to go back and reread his story! Over You is told from a dual POV which I think was perfect for this book as it as important to get into both their heads. Don’t worry, the two get their HEA. I receive this book for free.
Where do I begin with how incredible this book is! The story of Spencer and Georgia Ann will completely and unequivocally ingrain itself into your heart. They married young and he became a rock star sensation, but that life put their marriage into peril. The only way Georgia Ann could get him to help himself, was leave him. Would that work? Could he fight his demons and come out on the other side? This story takes you on an emotional rollercoaster with so many feels it will blow your mind. I fell in love with these characters and didn’t want this story to end. But my heart is full and I loved every word in this book and so will you. Second chance love always prevails.
I knew deep down this story was going to be amazing. Stevie did not disappoint, she wrote a 6 star poignant story. As soon as it pop up on my kindle this morning, I dove and devoured in a matter of hours.
Spencer and Georgia Ann share a past. Both from troubled childhood. They fell in love and married young. Spencer became a famous rock star, Georgia lost herself. Addiction nearly destroyed them.
oh my god! This story emotionally destroyed me. Once I started reading it, I kid you not, I read it in a matter of a few hours. It captured my undivided attention and latched itself to my entire being. My heart broke so many times over but Stevie pieced it back together again by giving the HEA, I wanted. It’s a powerful story about giving a second chance to make things right.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
Outstanding!
I’m in awe of this story. Passion, drama, addiction and love. Over You has it all.
Can fame and fortune destroy your soul? Strength, integrity and hope are fought for. But will Spencer and Georgia draw battle lines that neither can win?
Stevie has ripped me apart and managed to make me whole. How? By using her craft to hone in on my weakness…reading a fantastic story filled with ALL THE FEELS.
This is my first Stevie J. Cole book and let me just say, she knocked my socks off with this story. A married, drug addicted rock star is usually a recipe for disaster, with temptations coming at them from every side, and when this story begins the reader is front and center for Spencer and Georgia Ann’s tumultuous relationship. He won’t stop using and she can’t take it anymore, so she does the only thing she can think of to get him to stop doing drugs: she leaves.
What transpires is a story of the pressures of rock stardom and how it can tear a relationship apart, and what people will do to try and save the ones they love the most, even if that means walking away from them. Georgia and Spencer have been soulmates from the age of seventeen, but is their love enough to overcome the demons plaguing Spencer?
Stevie delivers a rollercoaster ride of emotions in this story. The struggles that Spencer experiences were laid out in all their ugly glory and as many times as I wanted to shake sense into him, I wanted to hold him tight and help him fight his battle. Georgia was such a strong young woman in spite of everything she’s already experienced in life, and I applauded her for the tough decisions she had to make in order to keep her own sanity.
I was totally immersed in this book and didn’t put it down until I had turned the very last page. This second chance romance was angsty and emotional, heartbreaking at times but heartwarming also. If you love the Rockstar trope, this book will hit all the right buttons for you!
“ I would rather die than live without you” “I’d rather live without you than watch you die.” Oh my God! My heart! I’ve pretty much read everything that Stevie has written and this is so different than her usual stuff. Over You is heartbreaking, it deals with addiction and how it rules your life.
Most of us will do anything for that one special person who holds our heart and this book is a testament to that. It’s beautiful, raw and yes there will be tears. Spencer and Georgia Anne are great characters who you will immediately fall in love with and their story is phenomenal.

“Gods don’t play by the same rules as mere mortals, babe. And we are dating Gods.”
Yup, they ARE Gods. Living larger than life lives, constant euphoria, innumerable screaming fans, sycophants, hangers on, moochers, ground worshippers, idolisers……..and suppliers/enablers.
Spencer Hailstorm married his high school sweetheart, Georgia Anne and their life consisted of counting pennies and making bucket lists. But they were in love and chasing dreams while holding hands is rosy and romantic.
What happens when they grasp those dreams?
Where do they go after they’ve reached the pinnacle of success?
……..downhill! Down the road of sex, drugs and Rock ‘n Roll
“I would rather die than live without you.”
“I’d rather live without you than watch you die.”
It’s a self inflicted wound that spreads deep and rots their relationship and the only way to salvage herself and save Spencer –Georgia quits and takes a Self Discovery Pilgrimage !
His songs lose meaning and lyrics which were all about the girl he loved become I’m Sorrys, I love yous and Please. God. Please
It’s sad to see Gods fall from grace and show us their mortal, fragile side. Trembling, shaking, jittery limbs, sweat drenched body and volatile moods

I fell hard in the story. It’s just touched me deep. Watching this train wreck, I’m not sure I’ll ever envy the highly glamorous rockstar lifestyle ever!
Stevie elicits pathos and sympathy with her pen dipped in pain. It’s a pathetic situation brought alive with tender care
Lesson learned- Love and drugs make us liars and fibbers. The promised Tomorrow never comes!
Instead of Happily Ever After it’s Happy In Progress.
4.5 stars “Benefito. Perfectico. Magnifico.”
Addicted to Love!
I read this book in only a day…it was so amazing, heartbreakingly emotional, real and raw. Stevie has wowed me, floored me and killed me with this angsty rockstar romance, possibly her best work so far in my opinion. I could not look away from Spencer and Georgia as the train wreck of addiction takes on more passengers on its trip to hell. Anyone who has loved an addict has no doubt experienced the awful domino effect their actions have on those who love and care for them the most.
Spencer, the man, has somehow morphed into what people expect from Spencer Hailstorm…the sex, drugs and rock and roll rockstar God.
He and his band, Midnight Kills, are now just a hot commodity to their label, a golden ticket on the road to fame and fortune, as their every move, real or staged, is dictated for them. He’s trapped in this life he thought he wanted, stuck running on the wheel and doesn’t know how to get off of it and be just Spencer anymore. He is surrounded by debauchery, drowns himself in whatever substance is handy and feels so much guilt with every promise he breaks to the person he needs more than anything, Georgia Anne, his only love and true soulmate.
How much disappointment, fear, anxiety and hurt can a relationship take before it derails over a cliff? There are so many layers to Spencer and Georgia’s love story and at some points I said..’oh no..please don’t.
I can’t watch this happen’…next..’WTF are you thinking!’..then..’OMG, my heart is going to explode’! I pretty much experienced everything Spencer and Georgia were feeling right along with them, good or bad, because that’s the way Stevie J. Cole has written this 5 star romance.
I’m not going to give too much away because, even though I read the blurb about Spencer Hailstorm and thought I knew how this might play out, nothing could prepare me for how he would steal my heart right out from under me as the story progressed. I’ll never be able to look at gum wrappers the same way again without thinking of the romantic, broken man trapped in his own misery who just wants to love and keep his woman with all his heart. Gumwrappers you say? Yes, read Over You and find out why you’ll not be ‘over’ him, even at the end, you’ll still be thinking about him.
There were parts that surprised me and I don’t want to ruin that for you, the reader, who really just needs to grab this book NOW, along a box of tissues . Turn off the TV, park yourself in a quiet, comfy spot and begin a story you won’t soon forget. Your laughter and tears will mix together as you sigh your way through to the beautiful ending that was just everything and then some.
How could I not recommend this stellar book! Amazing, Heartbreaking, Healing!
An advanced copy of this book was generously provided, happily received and this is my honest and unbiased review of it.
