Over Us, Over You NOTICE: If the content you received is incorrect, please email the author at [email protected].. Subject: Delete this message after you read it…Dear Hayley,I’m assuming you’re still hungover, so I’ll make this brief.Last night, you slipped under my sheets (without my permission), and we almost had sex. I got the hell out of the bed once I realized it was you, and I took you … (without my permission), and we almost had sex. I got the hell out of the bed once I realized it was you, and I took you home.
That’s the story.
The end.
Period.
Just in case you’ve forgotten, you’re my best friend’s little sister. We will never be anything more. (We can’t be anything more.) Our previous friendship is still unresolved–or “over” in your terms, so I’d prefer if we worked on becoming ‘just friends’ again since you’re in town.
Nonetheless, I’m not a man who leaves questions unanswered–even the drunken ones, so to properly close our inappropriate conversation:
1) Yes, I liked the way your lips felt against mine when you were on top of me.
2) Yes, I do “prefer” rough sex, but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t rough with you.
3) No, I had no idea you were still a virgin…
This message never happened,
Coreymore
This is a quick read and I enjoyed pretty much everything about it. Hayley and Corey’s relationship is the best friend’s little sister and the fact that they have to keep it hidden added a touch of drama to it. Otherwise, this is one hot, steamy, fun read with characters that are likable.
I love Whitney G and I’m slowly making my way through all of her backlist. My favorite part of this book was the glimpses into Corey and Haley’s past. I definitely need to listen to Jonathan’s story next!!
This was another great book in this series. It was fast-paced and sexy. I enjoyed seeing how their relationship changed throughout the years. I definitely recommend this author, this book and this series.
I wanted to like this book more than I did. I just felt like Hayley was super flaky and she annoyed me a bit too much. She was given all of these things by her very wealthy brother and she was given a job and she came in late all the time and was a terrible employee. She spent all her time sneaking around with Corey. I liked their story, but I felt like they took nothing in their lives seriously and just focused on them sneaking in quickies in the office. It didn’t jive with the “drive” he supposedly had and how he was so successful.
It Was Always Him
Corey was her friend first when they were growing up in foster care. Even before he became her brother’s best friend. She always wanted him to be her first…now he wants to be her last.
Hayley has been running a business even though her brother thought he was financing her education. Her dream cafe went bankrupt. Now she’s heading back home to start over.
Corey is a successful businessman. He’s always had a special relationship with Hayley until she moved away. Now she’s back and all grown up.
Sparks fly between these two, no matter how hard Corey tries to deny it. And then when they come together…it’s just everything! So HOT! So much more than either thought it could be. It’s so much more than physical.
Too bad her brother’s not on board. No one is good enough for his sister. Now it’s up to them to figure out what’s the most important.
This book was mentioned in a reader group and once I read the blurb, I was sold! A super hot & sexy read that I’m so glad I found.
Over Us, Over You is a kind of antagonistic, friends-to-lovers, brother’s best friend romance.
Corey and Hayley have history. The kind where they used to be friends, but he hurt her and she hasn’t spoken to him really since then. But now that she’s going to be living in his house while she gets back on her feet, they’ll need to be civil to each other. Right? In their case, it’s more like, they’ll need to figure out if they can stop from falling into bed with each other, lest they risk her very protective older brother and his best friend’s, wrath.
I mostly liked Over Us, Over You. Who I loved the most was not actually either of the two leads, rather, it was Jonathan, Hayley’s uber protective brother. I think I liked him so much because he reminds me of my own uber protective older brother. My brother is the same type of brother. The kind who would threaten his best friend if he thought said best friend was breaking or had broken his sister’s heart. And since I adore my older brother, even though he’s so overprotective that he’s scared away countless guys in my lifetime (except one stuck, yay for my hubby!), and Jonathan reminds me so much of him, I fell in love with Jonathan instead of with Corey or Hayley. Actually, I thoroughly disliked Hayley. I liked Corey, but didn’t love him. I wanted their relationship to feel stronger, more substantive. I didn’t feel their connection to be as strong as I had been hoping for, but I think had their story been a little longer, it may have ended up being a lot stronger.
Though this may not be my favorite Whitney G story, it’s still well written and entertaining. It’s a little angsty, especially for its short length, and Hayley was immature, bratty and spoiled, but it’s sexy and the brother’s best friend trope is one of my favorite things, and it’s done fairly well here. Had Hayley been likable, and had their relationship been given more time to develop, I would have definitely been able to rate it higher than 3.5 stars.
This is such a page turner and I loved it
I always love a second chance romance, especially when it happens to be a romance between a girl and her brother’s best friend. What I loved even more about this book is that Corey admitted to himself that Hayley was was actually his best friend before her other brother actually was. These two could talk about anything and everything for hours. Hayley also respected Corey no matter what girl he was talking to or who he was with at the time, even though she admitted to herself that she “damned near loved him”. I also loved that Corey wasn’t the perfect jock. Nether of them had the best childhood, yet they were there for each other as much as they could. Once their lives collided again there was no stopping the love they had for each other, no matter how Hayley’s brother felt. I loved the addition of the text messages and emails. They definitely added to the story. I’ve been waiting a while for this story to come out and I have to say it didn’t disappoint.
