This story can totally be read as a standalone, but I have read all the previous Winter Games novels. This was the final book in the Winter Games series and I am so sad that this series has ended. This one of my favourite series. This is Jaclyn aka Jac and Kyle’s story.
Jac is so sure that she’s destined for nothing more than the mountains she chases and conquers, until she meets Kyle. He was supposed to be a brief distraction, but she can’t seem to go anywhere without fate tossing him smack dab in her way.
Kyle knows from the first night that Jac is worth everything and then some. He just has to convince the girl that she’s worth it, too.
I loved seeing the whole gang again.
I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.
Jac and Kyle are stiff competition for Channing and Wyatt (my favorite couple in this series.) In fact, one could draw several parallels between the couples- Jac and Channing are both determined to be the best in their respective sports despite nearly everything around them seemingly working against them. Kyle and Wyatt are both nice-guy alphas, determined to show their tough-as-nails heroines that they don’t have to be strong all the time.
That being said, the stories are also wildly different, and that’s one of the things I love about Sharp’s writing. Jac and Kyle really bring the series full circle without making you feel like “I’ve heard this one before.” Jac’s internal struggles are as heartbreaking as her past, and Kyle’s drive to be the hero Jac deserves without either of them becoming codependent is admirable and swoon-worthy.
And, as always, there is a heaping pile of heat along with all the feels.
When the Ice Princess meets the Hot SnowmassHole, something’s got to give. And does it! Jaclyn Blanchard has spent her entire life on the ski slopes and all of that work has resulted in her 4 World Cup Championships. She is at the top of her game, but she’s paid a steep price for what some would consider a life of glory. The cost is her soul. She can’t trust anyone because she’s been hurt by those who should love and protect her the most and her heart is as frozen as the smile on her face. Kyle Masters is the resident GQ physical therapist with a personality as appealing as his looks. He is holding out for just the right woman who speaks to his heart and he’s proof that chivalry is not dead. He spots Jac at a bar as she’s being hassled by a drunken oaf who won’t accept no for an answer. He flips into rescue mode. Not necessary! With what can only be described as sweet ninja moves, (or perhaps it was the Force!) she dispatches the oaf. An immediate and heated attraction sparks between them and neither will be the same again. With some sad truths that come out, danger around the corner and feelings that grow toward commitment, Jac and Kyle bring out the best in each other. Over the Top is an exceptional story to cap the Winter Games series, but I’m sad to see it end.
Over The Top is book 5 in the Winter Games series and does not disappoint. In the previous books we have meet and fell in love with some pretty amazing stories. But what we get in book 5 is just as amazing.
We have meet Kyle in the previous books and as this book can be read as a standalone, it is so much more enjoyable reading them in order to know Kyle previously.
Jac is known as the Ice Princess, the sking champion/queen. But one night out to let some steam off and a chance encounter with Kyle can stir the pot. With another year of championships reaces about to start Jac can’t afford to be distracted. But what happens when Kyle won’t get out of her head?
Kyle has an amazing life, great job, great group of friends, but he just can’t find the one. Until Jac. With his pursuat to melt the ice princess takes us on a ride we don’t see coming.
Dr. Sharp has out done herself with their story. Reads so smooth that you just fly through the pages. The interconnections of the previous friends make their apperanaces. The story as a whole is just so well written.
**ARC received in exchange for an honest review***
OVER THE TOP is the fifth and final book in the WINTER GAMES SERIES, I have only read only one other book in this series so I can confidently say that this can be read as a standalone. I have all the book on my every growing TBR shelf but I do plan on reading each and every one of them because they are such fun reads.
This book is the story of Jaclyn, Ice Princess, Blanchard and Kyle Masters an unlikely duo but their chemistry is spot on. She can freeze you out with just a look and he cares for everyone around him. But as you can guess there is much more to Jac’s story then meets the eye and I had fun watching Kyle melt her little by little as she got to know him.
While everyone called Jac the Ice Princess, Kyle insisted she was Cinderella…and he was her Prince Charming. Or maybe Princess Leia and Han Solo? If you are a fan of Star Wars you will enjoy all the references made to the various movies and characters, I personally never watched an entire one although my husband and kids occasionally hold Star Wars marathons and watch every movie made in the order they should be watch and not when they were released so I knew some of the references but not all. That being said, it didn’t take anything away from the story but, I think it would make it more fun for a fan of the movies.
I hope you give this book and this series a try especially if you enjoy Sports Romances, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
Happy Reading!!!
I won’t lie I did not know that I needed Kyle Masters story until I started reading it. As a bit of a side character throughout the series so far, he was the good guy that just never seemed to get the girl. Kyle’s story though was a much-needed addition to the series, and I loved reading his tale. Even as a side character I loved him, he was a great add in throughout the other stories and now after reading his I am so glad he found his fairy-tale.
Jac gave me major Channing vibes, I was brought all the back to book one when I feel for this series and this author. With high wall built to protect her from the pain of her past Jac is almost unreachable. Almost. There was no stopping Kyle from being her savior, her hero, even when she didn’t want him to.
Kyle and Jac have off the chart’s chemistry, right off the bat they are drawn to each other and as a reader I wanted more. Jac’s stubbornness to resist Kyle was adorable to read because who could really resist Kyle Masters when he has the full charm on. Love this book so much! This was a great wrap up to the series!

I’ve loved this series from the beginning but I Jac and Kyle’s book is my all time favorite. I loved the role reversal and that Jac and Kyle was it sure typical characters. I am so in love with Betty. She is something else.
Another great book in this series!
Talk about opposites attract in this new installment of Winter Games! Jac & Kyle are both looking for something that they don’t realize is right in front of them. It was pure joy to watch their story unfold. Each book can be read as a standalone, but it is always a joy to see glimpses of the other couples in this series.
Well done Rebecca Sharp!
This is the only book that I have read in the Winter Games Series. And after reading it, I now know that I have to go read the rest of them. They’re interconnected standalones and this book just entices me to know what happened with the other couples. I was glued in right from the beginning. Jaclyn is this strong, independent woman that feels like she doesn’t need to rely on anyone but herself. She’s definitely a stubborn one and Kyle is not willing to give up no matter how hard she fights it. They meet and it’s like fireworks going off in their eyes. Kyle is drop dead gorgeous and makes me swoon so very hard. He’s sweet, protective, and so determined. There’s angst, drama, and sizzling, hot steam. There’s no doubt that this book keeps you entertained from beginning to end!
Over the Top is book five in the Winter Game series and each book can be read as a standalone. This was the last book in this series and these snowmassholes will be missed. We get Kyle the good boy’s story and we meet Jac the ice princess. The saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover!” applies to Jac. She’s so much more than what people see. All it takes is one night or moment to change your life and sometimes good comes after the bad for those who wait. So “Let it go!” HAHA and allow the ice to melt your heart with this story. Love how it ended! You will swoon, laugh at Betty (secondary character) and see the chemistry these two have together.
Kyle Masters is a physiotherapist that works at Porter Adventist Out Patient Facility while spending his nights laying with his band the Wanderers and also volunteering to be a medic at Snowmass. After performing one night he meets “Cinderella” and sparks fly and after an incredible night he wakes up and she is gone.
Jaclyn Blanchard is known on the slopes as the Ice Princess. She was betrayed by her fiancé Evan and has made herself that no man will be a distraction to her again and she will remain the top woman champion skier for as long as she can.
When Jac meets Kyle she can’t deny her attraction to him but she won’t let anyone else get close to her again after Evan. When Jac’s rival shows up things get heated and can Jac stay focused on the competition with everything else going on?
This is the first book I have read in the Winter Games Series and now I really need to go back and start from the beginning! This was such a great book from beginning to end and I really didn’t want to put it down!
Kyle was such an awesome guy from the start to the end and I loved how he gradually wormed his way into Jac’s life even though she really kept him at a distance. I loved his relationship with Miss Betty and how she was always trying to catch a glimpse of him or get him into conversations when she was supposed to be with Jenna, one of the other physiotherapists. I liked that Kyle was dedicated to his job and really enjoyed helping people overcome their injuries.
Jac started off the book as someone with a heart of ice but gradually thru the book you see her warming up. That being said, she kept so many secrets from the past and never let anyone know about what she went through, especially with Evan. That part broke my heart as she never intended to be the Ice Princess but situations unfolded and she felt she couldn’t trust anyone or let them in anymore. I can’t believe what she endured and how that shaped everything and I really understood her yet I wanted her to be loved again and loved deeply.
There was so much chemistry the first time Jac and Kyle met and it was hot!!! I knew right away with the double date who would all be going and I definitely laughed as I knew Jac would be so mad!! I love how Kyle slowly proved to Jac that he could be there for her and showed her and most importantly gained her trust.
The stuff with Andrea Jensen, Jac’s rival, was cruel and I hated her right from the first moment and then more when I found out the background story. She was out for revenge and I was definitely worried!
Towards the end of the book Kyle is worried about Jac and I understood why Jac was reluctant to involve anyone else yet I knew that Jac was not going into it with the right frame of mind. I completely understood why Kyle took it upon himself to do something and then the blow up was huge and my heart broke for both Kyle and Jac for different reasons. I knew why Jac felt betrayed yet I was mad that she didn’t see it from Kyle’s point of view and why he was so worried about her.
I was both happy and sad that Kyle was able to prove he was on the right track and I was so happy that Jac was safe. The end was awesome and I can’t wait for more!

By Rebecca
I can trust Rebecca Sharp blindly when it comes to making me feel all kinds of heartbreaking, angsty and intense emotions. Over The Top was a completely different take on sports romance. The characters were brilliantly complex and fascinating. The story line was decorated with twists, shocks and emotional torture. And above all, the genius writing of Rebecca Sharp won my heart again!
Jac Blanchard has been titled many things. The most successful female skier in US history. The ice queen. The cold princess. The woman hunted and criticised and defaced for her personal life’s tragedy that put a dark mark in her athletic life too. Having been hurt and condemned way too many times, she has this impenetrable fortress around her broken heart barely kept together. Enter Kyle Masters. The proverbial nice guy with a golden heart and protectiveness. She is visiting Snowmass for the World Cup and meets Kyle by a sweet accident. And Kyle is determined to melt her frozen heart. Can they move forward while ghost of Jace’s past is haunting them?
Kyle is just amazing. He is made of everything I love to see in a perfect male lead. He is sexy, gorgeous and downright sinfully delicious. And he has such a big heart! He took care of Jace through thick and thin even when she pushed him away repeatedly. He is not reluctant to take charge when needed and he has this attractive confidence in him. But his biggest swoonworthy positive point is he gave Jace respect and space when needed. He sure can be an uber possessive caveman as every fibre of his soul calls him to protect, claim, support and cherish his woman. But he can also be extremely patient and easy going without pushing Jac to uncomfortable space. And it was exactly what Jace needed. Her past is full of painful memories and never ending guilt. And she cannot trust anybody or be vulnerable to any man. But Kyle’s love and passion slowly made her fall in love. I always feel the female characters in Rebecca Sharp’s book are extra special. Like Jac. She is such a strong and resilient and proud woman. She can be a lot stubborn and adamant. Kyle gave her back the freedom to love, laugh and live. This slow burn and soul deep romance had some beautiful moments. The chemistry gave me goosebumps for real. It was sweet and steamy. It was a road full of bumps and turns but every tear was so worth it!
Over The Top by Rebecca Sharp left a lasting impression in my heart. This was an inspiring and motivating story of finding self and believing self. Kyle and Jac will make each other stronger and become the perfect partners. Because true love is not about fighting battles of others or saving others continuously. True love is finding peace and happiness to be a better person altogether.
Received ARC for Honest review
Gah! I have so much love for this series. Although I am sad to say goodbye I am so happy Kyle discovered his happily ever after. He has always been a good guy, looking for his princess and… finally, he found her!
“Sometimes, being Prince Charming wasn’t about saving the princess; sometimes, it meant handing her a sword because she was strong enough to save herself.”
And not only did she save herself, she also saved him.
This book was awesome. There was drama, angst, heartbreaking memories, heartwarming hope, laughter, tears and love.
It really was a fantastic end to the series, especially since Rebecca Sharp weaved all the previous titles into a speech. FABULOUS!
Oh… one more thing!
I can’t forget Miss Betty!
She is the coolest almost 90-year-old woman in history and I love how she plays everyone to get her way
This is the series that introduced me to this author and I have to say that I have loved this series so so much. I am so sad that this is the last story in the series ( but I will live in denial)
Kyle has been a side character in previous books in the series. He is a
Physical Therapist, musician and a true gentleman.
Somehow how he never gets the girl and so don’t know why as he is the prefect book boyfriend.
He has been assigned multiple volunteer slots for an upcoming winter sports event.
While out with a friend he meets Jaq at a bar. Thinking she needs saving she proves him wrong. She thinks she can make him a one night stand and carry out her skiing dominance.
He sees that she wants sand is so much more.
Kyle went above and beyond all my high expectations of him. Jac was such a multidimensional character that was wonderful. Loved revisiting all the other couples.
As always these books are an amazing journey of love and friendship. Fantastic writing and dual POV. I highly recommend this book and series. I am happy to volunteer to leave a review for this book.
This book got me out of a book funk. I loved the interactions, the characters (not only the main ones) and loved that the author brought back people from previous stories that are awesome. Betty is the best. Hilarious and knows it all. I’m also very happy that I get a bit of Nick’s wisdom again. His ability to always know and uncover the deepest feelings others have, is uncanny. He is like Yoda. BTW, I think the author got very clever with the Star War references. But more than anything I loved that Kyle is so sweet and intuitive. That he sees Jac as a warrior and is not intimidated by it. You would think that a Prince charming is all sweet and smoochie but not this one. This one has a dirty, strong side to him. And it’s awesome to get that surprise. Jac has been so strong all by herself for so long that she needs a perfect mix of tenderness and authority like him. And thank God he has the patience of a saint because it takes a lot of reassurance from him to get the girl. Not easy to put her a ease but worth it. Best part, it’s not just her who gets the price. She is also one hell of a catch.
Rebecca Sharp knows how to deliver a suspenful, heartbreaking and fascinating story that will make you sweat, cry and cream at every turn.
Jac and Kyle were characters that at times feel like they were coming out of the pages. But, let’s be honest, Rebecca’s writing made them look more real than any character before.
There is no way you cannot admire Jac and her wild spirit. Being independent and take care of herself, is the key of her existence. Even not needing a prince charming, she finds in Kyle a partner in crime. Someone who was willing to take all the good and broken parts of her soul and make them shine with real love. He was capable to SEE the real Jac and not just the exterior. He gave their love a chance and for that, he is my favorite.
This story gives us all the fells in terms of the competing environment these skiers surround themselves and how demanding it can be to find perfection and be THE number one.
I definitely need to catch up with the other books in the series but it’s not surprise to see how Dr. Rebecca Sharp nailed it with this one.
I can’t wait to see more of her work in this 2020 and keep falling in love of her characters over and over again.
I definitely recommend this book and series. Well, I recommend ALL OF Rebecca’s books.
Trus me, you won’t regret it
5 demolishing stars!!!
Such a beautiful story about an Ice Princess and the knight who will thaw her heart. This book will have you in all your feels. A beautiful master piece from the first page to the last. The chemistry between these two if off the charts! Kyle will have you swooning.
Omg. Kyle and Jac were EVERYTHING! This story was emotional amd angsty and steamy and everything good. The plot was fast paced and kept me glued to my Kindle. Rebecca Sharp has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone!
Although this is book 5 in The Winter Games Series, Over The Top can easily be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
There’s lots to love about Jac and Kyle’s story. There’s Jac’s frosty exterior that Kyle manages to thaw. There’s Kyle’s handling of Jac that a she can’t understand. After all, she can carry her own bags! There’s Jac’s loyalty to someone who betrayed her, just so she doesn’t hurt a friend. BUT, these are just some of those ‘things to love’!
Although a standalone, I could almost guarantee that you’ll want to delve into earlier novels in this series, if you haven’t already. The characters included in the wider context of the story, as well as Prince Charming and Cinderella, are quirky and interesting.
Jac and Kyle’s story is highly readable and facilitates, an escape, all be it a snowy one! This just makes it all the more perfect to be enjoyed snuggled up next to a roaring fire!
Have you ever read a book and thought to yourself, where has this author been my entire life? That’s the exact feeling I had when I discovered Rebecca Sharp. Her heros are complex, sexy as all get out and perfectly executed. And her heroines are this intoxicating blend of independent and vulnerable. They’re gorgeous people not only on the outside, but on the inside as well. They may be fictional characters, but they are everything I’ve ever wanted to be when I grow up.
Story Line: Jac is a world class skier. Literally. She’s won more gold medals than anyone on the planet. Kyle is a physical therapist Ken doll. Okay, not a Ken doll – especially not in THAT region if you know what I mean. But he’s perfect in every other way. He’s sweet, kind, loving, devoted and smoking hot. What’s not to love? Well according to Jac and her jaded past, he’s too perfect. So she does everything she can think of to push our sweet boy away. Except their destiny has other ideas. Over The Top is a story about giving yourself a chance at being happy. It’s about allowing yourself to accept the good that this world has to offer. And it’s about truly living each moment to the fullest. You will laugh at certain conversations. Your toes will painfully curl during those steamy laundry scenes. And you will cry happy tears with their amazing HEA.
Interaction: There’s just something about a good enemies to lovers romance. Jac and Kyle aren’t truly enemies, however the vibes she throws at him would make you swear they are. I think she builds up this feud in her head that they have brewing, when in reality? It’s just a defense mechanism. I think I loved Kyle so much because he reminds me of my husband. He is truly a good guy and in a world as negative and jaded as Jac’s, that is definitely something you cannot trust. But Kyle, being the amazing person that he is, doesn’t give up. And thank you sweet baby Jesus for that. Kyle never gives up on Jac and that kind of devotion is what every single one of us need in our lives. We all deserve that one person who will see past our walls and see who we truly are. And let me just say, this story was so beautifully written, just thinking back about it has tears in my eyes. I loved the depth of each and every character. I loved their stories and I loved their love.
Laundry: Y’all. Insert major fanning myself sigh here. Y’all. Jac and Kyle are FIRE. I’ve never enjoyed an attempted one night stand more that I have while reading this masterpiece. Seriously. When they were burning up the sheets, they were burning up my sheets too. And when they were building the angst and the tension, I swear to you, my entire body was a giant tension rod. I loved every single moment of this book. And if you’re reading this asking yourself, but was the laundry good? Oh honey, good doesn’t even scratch the surface. Hustle up, buttercup. You best get to reading.
Depth: One of my favorite qualities about Rebecca Sharp is her ability to weave a love story into a story line that is so much more complex than just that. I mean, we all know love is chaotic and crazy, but somehow RS stories have at least 5 more layers to them. And those 5 additional layers are perfectly laid out to form what can only be described as a literary genius. Kyle’s story. Jac’s story. Previous characters from the series and their stories. Each is described with just enough detail to form a perfect world within your mind as you read through the story of how two people fell head over heals in love. If that doesn’t make for an amazing love story, I don’t know what does.
