So sweet! Nathan is living an empty, lonely life when he gets a new neighbor. They start out flirting over the fence between their two yards and eventually he breeches the fence & her heart. Kourtney is sweet & charming. They heal each others hearts. I loved them!
Two lonely people end up sharing a fence. It felt like fate that Nathan and Kourtney came into each other’s lives at the exact right time.
Nathan and Kourtney have led solitary lives until they ended up as next door. Separately, their lives completely broke my heart and I wanted nothing more than to wrap them both in a big hug. I loved that they built this amazing friendship without ever seeing one another but that it was already growing before Nathan took the leap over the fence.
This book is told almost exclusively from Nathan’s POV and I absolutely loved that!! It’s not often that romance novels are told from the male POV so this book felt like a breath of fresh air. This book is sweet and romantic. I never wanted it to end!
4.5 star Review Over The Fence by Melanie Moreland
This was a beautiful love story. Neighbours Nat and Kourtney have a fence between them that seems insurmountable, until one day it isn’t.
Both Nat and Kourtney are strong characters whom I found easy to relate too and very likeable. Kourtney has little to no self esteem and although Nat has his own demons he is focused on helping Kourtney. I really fell hard and fast for Nat and my heart just about broke for Kourtney on occasion.
As a conversation over the fence morphs into texting (and some of them were funny) then more, it was heart warming to see the confidence build in Kourtney but can she fully trust Nat?
When Nat jumps the fence to protect Kourtney, everything changes. Can they forge a path and move forward together or will their pasts keep them apart?
Melanie has done it again!! I LOVE everything she writes so it is no surprise this is another great book!! The fence separates these two lonely people but it also brings them together as they share food, conversation, friendship, and eventually love over this fence. I love how the fence becomes a part of their permanent home!! These two damaged souls can feel the good in each other before they ever see each other and they each have the power to heal each other. Melanie brings the characters of Nathan and Kourtney to life so well we feel like we are right in their lives listening to them talk over the fence and smelling the food grilling on the BBQ. I actually got hungry several times during this story lol! And the secondary characters, I shouldn’t call them secondary because they help bring the richness to the story, some are good, like Grant and Claire, and Annie, and some are bad, like her brother, but they are all necessary. I can’t say enough, if you have not read Melanie Moreland’s books yet, you simply HAVE to! You are missing out on so much! That’s all I can say!
This is a sweet and gentle romance where the heroine has serious self esteem issues, and the hero has a past that has left him unable or unwilling to make deep connections with people. I really liked how the book started with them meeting, and getting to know one another through the fence without ever seeing each other. Once they finally meet things move very quickly.
Nathan is sweet and funny, he deals with her insecurities very well. Kourtney has moments of sassy spark when bantering with Nathan, but at other times seems very vulnerable.
I did find the heroine’s insecurities and weakness a bit wearing at times, but otherwise this is a lovely, easy, sweet read!
