Not knowing what to do, I sat on the church steps and waited. As the gravity of my failure began to well up in me, I began to cry. . .I Had Lost The Hearse!Funerals and the all the things that accompany them are traditionally somber, contemplative events in which the bereaved look to their undertaker to guide them through that most difficult of times. Of course, sometimes tradition gets thrown … sometimes tradition gets thrown under the bus.
From a dysfunctional family who turn their mother’s wake into a full-blown riot, to funeral crashers looking for free meals, to a horse-drawn hearse taking the dearly departed for the ride of their afterlife, these accounts from actual undertakers will have you laughing, thinking, and gasping in disbelief. A literal graveyard of wild coincidences, slapstick humor, and touching moments, Over Our Dead Bodies explores the lighter side of the dead, the living, and the lone undertaker who has to make it all go as planned–even if it doesn’t.

Gave me a great inside view of what it’s like to work in the funeral business.
Entertaining without being disrespectful for the people who died. I would order the other book by these authors.
The writer provided lots of information on the funeral industry and it was interesting and there was a bit of humor at times. Recommend it for providing answers to a lot of questions about this industy
I am so glad I purchased this book. One of the best books I have read. No one wants to read about funeral directors, but I learned a lot about who these wonderful people are, and found great humor in the stories told. Would recommend this book to anyone. Good reading. I’d read another book by this author.
Bad autobioghrapy
Interesting stories about different undertakers and some of their strange expeeriences.
The first chapter was fun but it went downhill from there. I decided after three or four more chapters quit reay
I just didn’t find it all that interesting
It was ok. Nothing special at all. P
This book is exactly as I expected. It is a light, easy read. I haven’t finished yet but am enjoying this read.
Disappointed
I’ve read many books about funeral homes, morticians and everything else concerned with death. This is by far the worse book I’ve ever read. I made myself finish it hoping for some redemption for none ever came.
Do yourself a favor and delete this “book” from any reading list you might have.
Hope these authors didn’t quit their day job.
If you don’t know anything about funeral parlors, this is an entertaining way to learn a bit about what goes on. Don’t worry about anything technical or gross, he doesn’t get into that.
Great stories on a world most of us don’t know
An easy book to sit and read. No heavy plot or characters to keep straight. The stories are really interesting and often funny.
mildly entertaining
I really enjoyed this book. I tend to have a morbid sense of humor to begin with so this was right down my alley. Some of the stories were hysterical, while others were touching. I definitely recommend it.
The author wrote more about his life than his experiences. Funny in parts I guess I expected a little more humor
Title made me think it was funny things that happened between death & burial (I’m a minister), but it’s more about business decisions that were made.
just okay
