I’m going to be doing a LIVE UPDATE on this one as I review each story. That means overall rating and review will change with each story I read. (last updated 4/09/2021)
SECRETS by Cole Denton
RATING:
Honestly I grabbed this anthology because I needed to know more about Griffin Evans. We got to meet the obsessive stalker Riley Tucker in NEEDS (Stalker Anthology) and immediately I knew I’d have to have more from this boy and his prey.
SECRETS is more of a prequel to NEEDS, we get to see inside the twisted Evans family when Riley was a teenager. We learn how Riley is connected to Griffin. And a forbidden romance is formed amongst two people you’d never expect. Nope, not Riley.
The double standard this family has when it comes to intimate relations is quite misogynistic but I guess some things are thicker than blood.
Now I can only hope Cole will treat us to another story involving the Evan’s Financial family because I seriously need more.
SUSURRATION by Yolanda Olson
RATING:
Still not sure what to make of this one. It was a disturbing tale of religious morals and values under the tutelage of the Abbas of HϴMΣ, Lawson Bennett. Kester is the Abbas’ disgruntled son-in-law. Having been forced into a loveless marriage, after a coerced pregnancy all he wants is freedom.
His sister-in-law is his one true friend and his wife is the evil he must reside with every evening. Every man has his breaking point and witnessing Kester handle his is intriguing to say the lease.
This story took an unexpected turn and left me wondering if this is the last we’ll see of Kester’s eclectic soul.
FRAGILE VOWS by Ally Vance
RATING:
Identical twins, what could possibly go wrong? Absolutely everything.
When a woman comes between two brothers things can get dicey. Add in a tumultuous marriage and infertility issues and you have a recipe for disaster.
This tale of mistaken identity and infidelity will leave you happy and mad all in the same breath.
UNRULY by A.A. Davies (Abigail Davies)
RATING:
The Lakemere Story started in the Girls Night anthology with the story RESIST. We got to meet Rush, his girlfriend Sofi, his sister Haven and her partner Thalia. While RESIST focused mainly on the budding relationship between Haven and Thalia, we did get a feel for Rush’s protective and caring nature.
Now in UNRULY we are brought into Rush and Sofi’s life. From the start of this story I’m not a fan of Sofi. She is a spoiled, entitled brat who doesn’t display any likeable qualities. Meeting her birth mom at the age of twenty-one Sofi’s true nature comes out and it creates doubt in Rush’s mind about the girl he though he knew. For Rush family is everything and he can’t fathom why she is so willing to disregard a woman who wants to be a part of her life.
Over the next few days/weeks, Rush has multiple unplanned run-ins with Sofi’s mom Remi. It’s funny how coincidences can lead to a sense of fate. The pull towards Remi becomes too much for Rush to avoid and we end this story on a fated mate, kismet type relationship. As a HFN ending I can only hope we are treated to more of the Lakemere story in the future. I’d be interested to know how both stories coexist in a new world.

I don’t know what I was expecting at first but what I read had me glued to the screen without stopping. Each story is different but with the same theme of forbidden love with your in-law. There is a little something for everyone as it’s not only MF couples. I was blown away because some things were just out there and I loved it!
This anthology is written by different author’s and is so worth the read. My review is for the following: –
Susurration by Yolanda Olson
This is Kester’s story. Kester is trapped in a life that he does not want with a wife and father-in-law who have control of everything. The only person Hester can rely on is Sylvie his best friends and sister-in-law, who is willing to help him escape from his life as it is. When Hester plucks up the courage to break away, the higher powers that be do not make things easy for him. This is a well written tale, which I would love to read more about.
Each story has a unique twist to it, which leads to an intriguing, thrilling, and entertaining read. I look forward to reading more from these authors, and I recommend this romance anthology for all.
This review is for Yolanda Olson’s story, Susurration.
Kester finds himself entrapped in a type of hell, surrounded by whispers, a wife he doesn’t love and a father-in-law who is in charge of this hell. With the help of Sylvie, his only friend, Kester is determined to free himself from this place and stop the whispers. Kester is giving the chance to have a meeting with his father-in-law, the one who the others call, Abbas, and the plan is set in motion. Kester wants to treat Abbas as Abbas treated him. Does Kester succeed and stop the whispers? I know.
I love to see more of this story.
Secrets indeed!

Review for Secrets by Cole Denton
I was super excited to hear that Cole Denton’s contribution to the Outlaws anthology, Secrets, was a prequel to Needs from a previous anthology! The ending of Needs left my jaw on the floor and wanting to know the hows and whys behind Griffin’s & Riley’s story. Secrets answered many of those questions, but I can’t wait to read Cole’s next installment of this story in Manipulations!
What a great reading collection. I seldom like all the stories and usually read only the authors I know, but I absolutely loved every story!
I love anthologies! Getting to read so many different authors is a real treat. So much talent and diverse writing styles in one book, including this one…Well done all! I particularly enjoyed Secrets by Cole Denton. Learning more about Griffin from Needs and meeting Uncle Lars was fascinating and disturbing. Both really strong characters that you couldn’t help being enthralled with. This family sure does put the fun in dysfunctional and I can’t wait for more!
Oh. My. Days!! What a collection of stories! Each one had me on the edge of my seat! And hot under the collar, questioning my moral compass at times. But hot damn!!!
As always with an anthology for me, I get to catch up with authors I know. JM Walker gurrrlllll! Her Little was fire!!!
I also get to meet new to me authors too and this who!e anthology was a fantastic read!!!
My review in the anthology is for Ally Vance’ story fragile vows.
This is a second chance romance and oh boy it starts with a wedding! I found myself rooting for the best man from the start.
I suppose only a woman in love can tell the difference between identical twins.
There was so much I wasn’t expecting from this story, but I guess that’s what made me love it that much more. I was rooting for Cameron and Willow from the very start. Cameron and Willow have a past and that left room for Ciaran to swoop in a pick up the pieces that Cameron left behind, at first he did it right but then at some point he changed and not for the better.
Poor Ciaran, not quite knowing how to deal with his pain so instead he takes it out on those around him that love him most.
What an explosive ending , I certainly wasn’t expecting anyone to die.
I definitely wish there was more to this short story!
The author did such a great job , I can’t wait to read more stories by Ally Vance.
I highly recommend this story and I can’t wait to read the other short stories in this anthology.
This group of authors came together and each brought there own unique style to there story. Each story was captivate and I couldn’t wait to read each story in this book set.
My review is based solely (right now) on Cole Denton’s contribution to this Anthology, Secrets.
After reading Needs (found in the Stalkers Anthology), it was essential that I read Secrets. I was sucked in from page 1! We learn more about Griffin Evans in Secrets. Griffin has a Secret that has been “burned into my heritage for decades.” A twisted Secret! Secrets is a superbly crafted, steamy story. I am invested in Griffin and Riley and cannot wait to read more. Needs and Secrets are vital reads!
I received an ARC and I’m freely reviewing.
I read, Fragile Vows by A. Vance in this anthology. This is a new author to me and this is a taboo/cheating read. If you’re not a fan of that, this isn’t for you. I don’t mind the taboo, so I was game for the book. This is about Willow and Cameron and his twin, Ciaran. There’s history between Willow and the brothers, she had a past with one and then married the other. There’s talk of alcohol and drug abuse and domestic violence, it’s not described in detail but it’s there. This story is a quick read that I was able to get through on my lunch. I enjoyed the beginning chapters but the last 2 or 3, just seemed to be rushed. I wish we had a little more but overall a good story.
This review is for Ally Vance’s story Fragile Vows and I have received an ARC copy of it. I am reviewing this story voluntarily.
A failing marriage and a sinful attraction to your husband’s twin, wishing he is your knight in shining armour. Two twins fighting for their girl, trying to prove who deserves her.
Who will win the girl and what will the twins have to sacrifice?
This story takes you dark places and forces you to feel what the characters are feeling at the same time. Very powerful story and I loved the intensity, the twists and the dash of darkness about this story. Ally has written a very powerful story !! I can’t wait to read the other stories in this anthology.
I highly recommend you read the Outlaws Anthology. It is a fantastic collection of seven authors and their unique stories involving taboo romance among in-law relatives.
My review is for Susurration by Yolanda Olson and Secrets by Cole Denton.
Susurration – Yolanda Olson
Every time I start a Yolanda Olson book I go in with an expectation of a phenomenal read, dark fiction with a hefty dose of the taboo thrown into the mix. Susurration is no different. It has left me salivating and wanting to read more of Kester’s story. Right now! Living in a world ruled by his father-in-law, Kester wants out. Despising both his wife and her father, Kester has only one ally, his sister-in-law, Sylvie. Can Sylvie go against her family and help her friend to escape a life of whispers and control? I truly recommend that you read Susurration.
Five stars!
Secrets – Cole Denton
Cole Denton has weaved another masterpiece with Secrets. Griffin has Secrets to reveal to Riley and when you discover them, I’m betting your jaw will hit the floor like mine did. I can’t give anything away because it would spoil the plot but if you haven’t already, read Needs first. (It’s in the Stalkers anthology. That’s where we first meet Griffin and Riley.) The characters pull you in from the start as their tale unravels. I love their interactions and they are so very addictive. The taboo aspects of Secrets sing to my little black heart. I want more! What can I say? I’m greedy for the rest of the Greed Series. I absolutely recommend that you read Secrets.
Five stars!
The Outlaws Anthology has a little something for everyone!!
What happens when you hate your father in law or when you love your sister in law a little too much?
Exceptional authors, some anthology regulars and a few new to me, taking in-laws to a whole other level. There’s MF, MM and FF and tons of steam in each story. Dark, twisted and everything I love.
Some of the stories were so good I needed more, like you can’t just leave me hanging like that guys!!!!
*Heed the warnings, especially on Susurration because like everything YO writes, that story is mind blowing!!
