One of the top ten best-loved novels in America, as seen on PBS’s The Great American Read!
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.
Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, Claire learns her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.
This eBook includes the full text of the novel plus the following additional content:

Best book I’ve ever read!
Love this series especially this book, the first in the series!
I’ve loved every Diana Gabaldon book I’ve read! Shes amazingly detailed in her historical research and writing.
OK. I have never reviewed anything as spectacular as this book. It is history and fiction melded with amazing storytelling. The author has taken me with her on a journey and I can’t wait to finish it. Run, do not walk, to the place where you can get this book. Thanks, Diana Galbadon!!!
Excellent
Too long and predictable–I don’t like not to finish books, but really had to force myself to keep going with this one.
One of my favorite of all times
Thought the series was good, but book surpassed. Can’t wait for continuation. In the meantime will catch up on my sleep.
Simply fantastic! Extraordinarily well-written. Strong heroine that inspires all women to be bigger, braver, more adventurous. And you don’t even have to leave the planet to acquire those traits, if you don’t want to!

I have all of the series and loved all…even bought an Outlander calendar! Ms Gabaldon really makes you live in the moment. I learned so much about the time and what it was to exist in 1740’s Scotland. My alltime favorite series!
Great story. I loved it.
Loved the series have read it multiple times. Tried the video series on stars but they cut some of my favorite parts of the book out so gave up on that.
I loved the whole series.
This series is hands-down the absolute best books I have ever read, and I have read constantly for the past 35 years.
Diana Gabaldon is the best story teller and writer I have ever read. I love fat books and that was why I bought Outlander. But I bought all the following books because they are wonderfully written.
best book series EVER
All of her books are terrific. Keeps my interest. Don’t want to put it down.
The perfect beginning to this series! Can’t wait to read the rest of them!
I loved the book. All 8 of them. I finished the whole series in a week. I didn’t get much sleep as I couldn’t stop reading. They are much better than the TV series and that is extra good.
The plot of this book drew me in and kept me reading. The main characters were very likeable and well done. I had only problem with this book. The physical relationship between the two main characters was a bit too graphic for me. I feel the book would have been just as good without the graphic sex
