#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • NOW A STARZ ORIGINAL SERIES Unrivaled storytelling. Unforgettable characters. Rich historical detail. These are the hallmarks of Diana Gabaldon’s work. Her New York Times bestselling Outlander novels have earned the praise of critics and captured the hearts of millions of fans. Here is the story that started it all, introducing two remarkable characters, Claire … two remarkable characters, Claire Beauchamp Randall and Jamie Fraser, in a spellbinding novel of passion and history that combines exhilarating adventure with a love story for the ages.
One of the top ten best-loved novels in America, as seen on PBS’s The Great American Read!
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.
Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, Claire learns her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.
This eBook includes the full text of the novel plus the following additional content:

My favorite series. Rich characters and exciting stories, always on the edge of my seat!
Love these books. Love the characters and the story line.
Just wish the sex could tone down a bit, No one needs that much information.
Couldn’t get pass the first 100 pages. I’m sorry but being marring and falling in love with another man is adultery not romance. Also saccenach does no mean what they think it does. It’s a derogatory word that was meant to insult the English. There is nothing I can recommend about this book.
A book to read and re-read and re-read ….
I absolutely loved this book and have read several times. The characters were great, you loved some, hated others. Great escape book!
Awesome I wish she would could write more
Favorite book, favorite author! And just the first in a great series currently turned to made for TV on STARZ. The characters are so real, I miss them when I finish. The story is full and rich, leaping continents and moving between many amazing developments. The main characters are in their 20ties when the story begins and their love leaves you …
What can I say, the best!!!
I am reading this series after watching the series on TV because I had heard the books were confusing and drawn out at times. I thoroughly am enjoying the books and find them easy to follow the story and understand it. Really love this series!
I love the entire series.
Excellent reading. Loved the characters.
This book is not my cup of tea.
One of my all-time favorite reads. Besides reading all the book in the series alone, my husband and I have listened to them. I am a huge Outlander fan.
Diana Gabaldon is the best writer in the time travel genre. I have read this book several times and each time it feels new and fresh.
One of the best books ever written in modern times.
Beautiful story, beautifully told. The characters are endearing.
Read every one of them, one eight after the other. Loved them!
Gabaldon has an exceptional gift for describing sights, smells, sounds and feelings onto the written page. She shares a written picture of the settings that lets you immerse yourself into the period. I love her books!
You can’t go wrong with Diana Gabaldon!
Have read and enjoyed all in the series, although prefer earlier, pre coming to America books.
