One of the top ten best-loved novels in America, as seen on PBS’s The Great American Read!
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.
Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, Claire learns her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.
This eBook includes the full text of the novel plus the following additional content:
• An excerpt from Diana Gabaldon’s Dragonfly in Amber, the second novel in the Outlander series
• An interview with Diana Gabaldon
• An Outlander reader’s guide

I’ve seldom read a book twice, yet this series I’ve read countless times. Sit back and welcome!
I really like the first book, but have read almost all of the others. Interesting concept!
Just enough spice and action
Great book, great series
When I was writing The Walls of Lucca, my editor, Nicole Ayers, called me and said, “Steve, we need more romance between Isabella and Franco. I want you to go to a book store and buy Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon.” I did. Great advice. The words Ms Gabaldon used to describe looks, touches, emotions, and of course…the rest…was perfect. She …
I read the entire series and I wish there was a continuation of these characters. The BEST series I have ever read. I’d have given them a 10 if it was available.
One of the best series I’ve ever read!

Read the books first; all are worth it (you will be hooked from the first one)
I loved this book, it pulled at every emotion you have and the development of the storyline and the characters was magnificently done.
Wonderful book. Hard to put down. I have read it several times and find something new each time. Can’t wait for the author’s newest book!
This is one of my top five favorite books of all time and I can’t say enough good things about it. I am currently on my 8th re-read and enjoying every page as much as I did the first time I tore through it.
A classic for a reason. Exceptional, unique, romantic. An in-depth glimpse into 18th century Highland life in Scotland. An epic in every sense of the word. Be sure to check out the show on Starz– it’s also incredibly good.
I loved this book. It has it all: action, romance, intrigue… well paced and couldn’t put down
Jamie Fraser is the best romantic hero from 25 years of reading romance!
