Her New York Times bestselling Outlander novels have earned the praise of critics and captured the hearts of millions of fans. Here is the story that started it all, introducing two remarkable characters, Claire … two remarkable characters, Claire Beauchamp Randall and Jamie Fraser, in a spellbinding novel of passion and history that combines exhilarating adventure with a love story for the ages.
One of the top ten best-loved novels in America, as seen on PBS’s The Great American Read!
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.
Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, Claire learns her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.
This eBook includes the full text of the novel plus the following additional content:

What can I say? Bad-ass woman, hot younger man 🙂 Time travel!
Read the books, listened to the audio and now watching the TV series. I simply love this story!! Waiting as patiently as I can for, Go Tell The Bees!!
Outlander is the first book in the serie by Diana Gabaldon. I have watched the first four seasons of the tv series, and hope netflix put the fifth one soon, but I haven’t yet read the books. Not dissapointed, its really good.
We start in the year 1945, Claire Randall, a nurse, is back from war and with her husband Frank they decided to go on they …
Loved the book. I am currently reading the 3rd book. I am in love the characters.
This book has a little bit of everything. It’s a phenomenal read.
Exciting. Informative because it made me look up things mentioned in the book
Excellent story
I love these books. The story line and characters are so well written it’s as if I can see the events happening in my mind as I’m reading these stories. Find it very hard to stop reading a book in this series even knowing I’ve got to get up in a few hours. I highly recommend all of the Outlander series.
Favorite book of all time!!! Give it 50 pages and the story will take you on a wild wonderful ride! Loved it!
Loved it!
I liked it up to a point then it was not to my taste. Some may be comfortable with certain scenes but I was not.
Absolutely fantastic book. Filled with a lot of history. A magical touch. Characters were well built and interesting. It is a huge book but a page turner.
Diana Gabaldon is my favorite author. I’ve read all of her books and I will read them again. I can hardly wait til the next one
The only book that became an obsession .
Love this book. My forth time reading it
Original plot and incredible characters, well drawn and compelling. You simply cannot put this book down. It leaves you waiting for the next book in the series. Outstanding and intricate.
I think the Outlander series is one of the best that’s ever been written. It’s got everything. Action, romance, historical fiction, sci-i, etc etc. The TV series is almost as good as the books & quite good as well. I heartily recommend this series. You have to read them in order though, otherwise you’re just lost.
I read the Outlander book then tried to watch the TV production but the book is the best!
What can I say? I’ve been an Outlander fan since the early 1990s, when they first came out. Jamie and Claire have THE love story of the ages . . . . originally supposed to be a trilogy, we fans (THANKFULLY!) persuaded Ms Gabaldon to write more . . . . and now theres the STARZ show . . . .which is a twin to the books, but a fraternal twin ~ so if …
Best romantic series ever…and the female is the strong central character.
