KAYLAMy infatuation with Ezra Johnson started how all obsessions begin—with a simple crush. Over the years I silently soaked up every shy smile and random act of kindness, wrestling them away to a secret place in my heart meant for unrequited love.Because if it wasn’t for the fact that I tutor him once a week, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t even know I exist. Then I find his sketchbook. And it changes … sketchbook.
And it changes everything.
EZRA
There are two certainties in my life: I’ve been in love with Kayla Reynolds since I was fourteen, and I can’t have her.
I’ve spent years settling for a two-dimensional fantasy world, capturing her beauty with a pencil and paper. She’s kind, smart, gorgeous…
And she belongs to someone else.
Or so I thought.
An interesting turn of events makes me realize things aren’t always how they appear on the outside, and now I’ve got my chance to be the man she deserves.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been called a loser. The cripple. An outcast.
But maybe—just maybe—this time the good guy won’t finish last.
Although OUTCAST is the fourth book in the Good Guys series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Ezra & Kayla’s story is the fourth book in this series and it does not disappoint. It is refreshing to read a story about people you can relate to with real problems (no billionaires) and real feelings.
I love all the books in this series. Each book is a complete story and any one of them will make you want to read all the books in the series.
Outcast has everything I look for in an NA romance. Love that stretches time, heat, and all those emotional coming of age feelings we can all remember. Jamie Schlosser brought it with this NA treat and I personally can’t wait to se what she does next! ~miranda
‘Outcast’ is the fourth book in the ‘The good guys’ series but you don’t have to read the other books to read this one. The books can all be read separately. But I would suggest that if you loved this book that you read the other books in the series too! Because they are just as good and as sweet as this one.
I must confess that after reading the blurb of ‘Outcast’ that I was really looking forward to reading this book. My expectations were very high so I was a little nervous when I started reading it. But like always the writer Jamie Schlosser didn’t disappoint me! This book was everything that I had hoped for. I just love her ‘Good guys’ series!!!
Just like so many other readers I love reading about ‘bad boys’, no question about it, but sometimes you are just in the mood for a nice and good guy, for a story that’s light, sweet and filled with love and emotions. (And for your information, ‘good’ doesn’t mean ‘boring’ love scenes! Nope, these guys may be on good behaviour outside the bedroom but in the bedroom they certainly know what they want!! Which make me love them more!)
Kayla and Ezra’s story start in high school when they are both 14 years old. Both are a little bit different from the rest of their classmates. Ezra has a leg injury that makes that his leg isn’t very strong. And Kayla is different because of her looks and the fact that she’s adopted by two men. Because both are shy, they don’t really connect until the summer before going to college but from that moment on….the connection is really there and the romance can begin.
The writing is very fluent, the story is writing from both POV’s (which I really liked!).
The fact that the story started at the beginning and that the story didn’t went from present time to the past, it just felt right for this story.
This writer is really becoming one of my favourite writers. I’m looking forward to her next book!
I loved this story of Kayla and Ezra and it touched my heart. This is a sweet love story that will touch you, no matter who you are. It is a story that needed to be told and was done very well. When you meet someone that touches your soul like Ezra did to Kayla. Unconditional love is something that you will find in this story. This is one book that I will read again and again. This is definitely the best book in this series. I highly recommend it.
Wow. It’s been a while since a book kept me up late and brought tears to my eyes. This is my first book by Jamie Schlosser but it won’t be my last. Honest and pure, this story touched me and left an impact I’m sure will stick with me for a long time. It was so refreshing to read “Good” in such a unique and engaging way. I love books that make me think, feel, and leave my heart with a smile. This one did it all! Love love love.
This book is EVERYTHING. I am not sure I could love a couple more than these two. I have such a soft spot for characters with physical flaws or the ones that don’t fit in. I adore high school/college romances and first loves. Ezra…. my god, there isn’t a sweeter book boyfriend walking around. He just treasures Kayla. By Chapter 2 or 3, I was already so attached to these two characters that I found myself tearing up. I love the underlying message that exists in this story line about bullying, acceptance and standing up to injustice. This will be one of my top reads of the year for sure. Jamie Schlosser is a complete underdog in the indie book world.
This was a great introduction for me of Jamie’s work!
Outcast is the story of Ezra & Kayla, outcasts themselves, adopting different ways to overcome.
I enjoyed the story so much! From Kayla’s adopted family to her best friend Gavin.
Ezra was absolutely amazing, his inner strength was so encouraging, even when he was at his lowest, he showed kindness. And his love for Kayla? Absolutely amazing. “You’re my favorite….” One of the swooniest lines ever!!
From the drama that is high school to even more drama in college, Ezra and Kalya overcome adversity and their love for each other is outstanding!
I am so glad to have been able to read this book! It was fast paced and couldn’t put it down read! I will be adding her other stories to my TBR list! Well done Jamie, well done! You have a new fan!
This one is book four in the Good Guys series but it can be read as a standalone. I loved Ezra and Kayla. These two are amazing characters. Both Ezra and Kayla don’t fit in in their high school. Ezra is consider the heavy crippled kid. Kayla is pretty but she doesn’t fit in with the girls at her school. They both have feelings for each other but neither realized it until the end of their senior year in high school. I was so routing for these two. They are apart for the summer and their letter to each other over the summer just made me want them to be together more. I was so routing for these two. Ezra is a great guy and his transformation over the summer was amazing. I was so upset with him when he was pledging a frat and I was also nervous that he would lose Kayla. I’m not sure how long this book is but I devoured it in one day. I couldn’t get enough. I’m so hoping we get more books in The Good Guys series.
Gah!!!! So much to say. Outcast is why I read romance. Just so good.
I am so in love with this story. This is book four in the Good Guys series. This is the first book of the series I read but luckily it could be read as a standalone. This is the story of Ezra & Kayla. In high school they had secret crushes on each other. It is finally revealed and they share a spark. Then the story jumps to college years and they are both different people but very much still the same. It was so much fun following them through their childhood crush to their adult love. I was swooning all the way through. But this just isn’t a feel good love story. Not even. This also deals with real issues like bullying and accepting yourself for who you are. This book had me laughing, almost crying, smiling, falling love, feeling outraged at the bullies, and also in suspense. I highly recommend this book. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t read the others in the series. This is a must read! And now that I have read it I want to read the others in the series too. This author has gained a new fan.

This book was one I was waiting for!
Ezra is not your typical romance hero but he has something special about him…strength. Strength to go through high school being bullied. Strength to overcome an accident that left him disabled. Strength to push forward with his life.
Kayla has always had a thing for Ezra but she kept that to herself. Just before he goes away for the summer they have a spark.
Fast forward to fall in college and Ezra is the new improved confident Ezra. Will Kayla still see him as the same guy? Will his confidence come at a price to his dear friend Pierre?
(Loved Pierre!! )
This was a great story I am so glad Jamie Schlosser finally wrote!!! Cannot wait for more!! (write faster )#ErzaisAmbersSweetheart

I want to start by saying that if I could have, I would have given this so many more stars. I also want to thank Jamie Schlosser for writing a wonderful book with two amazing characters.
This is Ezra, Jimmy’s little brother, and Kayla’s book. This book starts out on their first day of high school and when their secret crushes on each other begins. I say secret, because neither one ever tells the other of their crushes. I love that they are both equally crazy about each other, it’s just so damn sweet…and refreshing. But because they both get bullied horribly in high school, neither really has the confidence to tell the other. And because Kayla’s best friend (who’s a total sweetheart) happens to be a very large football player that everyone thinks she’s dating. But finally by graduation, Kayla gets up enough nerve to lay it all out there for Ezra.
He does go away for the summer to a physical therapy boot camp, but they write and sneak phone calls to each other. In college they pretty much become inseparable and they are just so sweet with each other. I love that they were each others first and their love is definitely a soul mate kind of love. This book touches on many real life topics going on in the world today, bullying and hazing are very real and no child, young or older should have to deal with it. These two went through so much, especially my, yes my, sweet Ezra. He’s like a sweet and beautiful ray of sunshine, probably one of the most genuine characters I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Definitely called dibs on him, he moved right to the top of my BBC (book boyfriend collection), there may or may not be a “picture” of he and I circulating on social media, so yeah….MINE.
This book was an absolutely wonderful safe read, no om or ow drama (neither got sucked into that business), two virgins, an adorable service dog, some of our favorite supporting characters, an epilogue and an hea. This is a book that I highly, highly, highly recommend….you are welcome.
Outcast is a book full of pure heart. Incredibly moving, I don’t think anyone could pick this book up and not be touched forever by the love of Kayla and Ezra. So many things near to my heart are deeply ingrained in this story and Jamie Schlosser did an amazing job of bringing them to light in the most beautiful way possible. Outcast quickly became more than just a sweet love story and turned into a book that dug its way right into my heart.
Ezra is one of the greatest heroes I’ve ever read. It’s easy to see why Kayla loves him so much after just a few minutes of reading. Kind seems like an understatement when describing him. His heart is so huge, and his love for Kayla is so deep it almost hurts to read at times from the sheer beauty of it. Kayla is just as incredible herself. Seeing beyond appearances Kayla loves openly and unconditionally. This book will forever remain a favorite that I will read again and again.
I have followed this series since its start. The author simply amazes me more with each addition. Her writing style is one I truly love. Her storylines always tell a message that hit you in the heartstrings. The characters in her stories will melt you to a puddle of goo; even during the rough times. Outcast is no except to these things.
In Outcast her storyline hits the mark with today’s world. Ezra is picked on, tease, bullied (however you wish to term it) because of his injured leg, but trust me he is no pushover. His injury does not define him. Kayla is the only bright spot in his days. Kayla isn’t one of the most popular in school but Ezra just knows she is still out of his league. This is a heartwarming emotional journey that will have you smiling, tearing up and hoping for a HEA. 2 Thumbs up for a tender romantic read that you just don’t want to miss out on. It’s part of the wonderful Good Guys series. You don’t have to read the other books to follow along with Ezra’s story but I highly recommend them all. Ms. Schlosser’s way with word and tender storylines make for warm and cozy 5 star reads.
Outcast.
I don’t know about you but I think a lot of people feel this way. They feel like they are on the outside looking in. Facades can certainly be misleading.
Kayla and Ezra are adorable. Both have had a huge crush on each other and never noticed. They were a powder keg of emotion until the match was lit.
I can honestly say that as much as I want Ezra for my own. I can’t picture him with anyone else. (Don’t give me that look. We all picture the H in our minds as ours but a select few are impossible to switch in that role. Ezra will only ever love Kayla like that.)
Outcast is a heartwarming and incredibly romantic story. It’s the best of everything. It’s Christmas morning and everything you asked Santa for is under the tree. With the exception of Gavin’s other half…Please Jamie, give Gavin his HEA soon.
