A city boy in Australia’s outback. Who would have thought I’d last longer than two weeks? My station owner may be older but he’s as beautiful and rugged as the red dirt that flows through his veins. Scottie deserves better than me too. I lied to him. But he encourages me. He helps me follow my dreams. Scottie has warned me a thousand times though. It’s not easy. The desert is as unforgiving as … desert is as unforgiving as the people. We’ve each got a fight on our hands. For our happiness. For our survival.
Outback Treasure II is a continuation of Pete and Scottie’s story. The first book in the Pearce Station duet is Outback Treasure I.

This was such a fantastic, amazing, grab-you-by-the-feels, sweeping, raw, gritty, gripping, emotionally charged, smoldering, passionate, lovely, bittersweet, poignant, and totally awesome end to this marvelous series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is Book 2 in the “Pearce Station Duet” and the author continued to lure me right into Pete and Scottie’s story as it so effortlessly unfolded with a great storyline that I couldn’t put this book down until I finished reading the very last page!
Pete and Scottie get there HEA in book 2 of this captivating duo of reads. We get answers to the questions and intrigue from Book 1 and the story flows well and completes nicely over the 2 books. If you like age gap reads then I recommend this duo!
4.5 Stars!
This is book two in the Pearce Station Duet and its conclusion, and you absolutely need to read book 1 first. Also, if you haven’t read Outback Treasure I, this review will contain spoilers, so proceed at your own risk.
This installment continues directly from where book 1 ended and I loved it! From the gorgeous descriptions of the Australian Outback to learning a lot of what goes on in a Station and the impact from the global warming on both the land and all its inhabitants, plus a few more twists and turns that seem very prevalent in the news as of late, I found it difficult to put it down until I finished it.
Scottie and Pete managed to mend their relationship after Pete’s secret was revealed, but Scottie isn’t ready to come out of the closet for fear of how it might affect the Station and his ability to take care of his nan, mom and sister. Even if they’re well aware that he’s with Pete, he’s aware not everyone would be as nice as they are.
I loved Scottie and Pete together and while in book 1 I wanted to shake some sense into Pete, and I kinda wanted to do that to Scottie in this one—especially since he hurt Pete whenever he pushed him away—I could understand why he didn’t want to come out, especially once we saw some of the reactions when he finally did. Still, Pete and Scottie were obviously meant for each other and it was great seeing them support each other in their endeavors.
This book had a bit of everything, romance, adventure and angst, it was fast-paced and balanced and a fitting conclusion to Pete and Scottie’s love story. Very recommendable!

The Outback Treasure Duet is the story of Scottie Pearce and Pete McKenzie. Scottie is the owner of an enormous cattle station (or ranch for those of us in North America) in Australia’s very isolated Outback. Pete is a young college graduate who has spent most of the past decade chasing a myth; trying to discover if the legends of finding gold in the Outback were true.
Scottie is gay. We don’t get to know much about his back story, or when he realized this about himself, but there is no question in his own mind. He knows who he is – but he has terrible difficulty accepting it. Because of the environment he lives in, Scottie is deeply in the closet, and he has no hope of ever being able to come out. He believes it would put the Station at risk; homophobia is so deeply ingrained he is certain his suppliers and customers would refuse to deal with him if they knew his secret.
Pete, on the other hand, is younger and was raised in the city where attitudes are more progressive. He has been out for ages and hasn’t ever had to deal with the bigotry Scottie has lived with his entire life.
Pete and Scottie connect and fall for each other quickly, but at the end of Book 1 there is a horrible misunderstanding and Scottie demands Pete leave because he thinks it has all been an act and all Pete wants is the potential gold on his land.
The love of his family convinces Scottie to bring Pete home, and they work it out. While the immediate family accepts them, Scottie isn’t able to face his customers, suppliers and employees – keeping his love life a secret out of fear it will destroy the station his family loves so much.
Scottie continues to hide until Mother Nature threatens both their lives. All at once it becomes blindingly clear to Scottie that Pete is more important to him than anything. And that gives him the courage to finally, fully accept who he is.
I devoured this lovely story. I fell in love with Scottie from the start, and the message about not being able to truly love anyone until you accept yourself is so real… As someone in her 40’s who took a LONG time to accept herself – I KNOW this to be true.
According to Ann’s website, there will be a third book set in the Outback focusing on Scottie’s sister Ally. I can’t wait for the journey back to Pearce Station!
This is book 2/2 and continues where the previous book finished.
Scottie and Pete have an age difference and live totally different lives but they can’t help but be drawn together, and I liked them together!
Really enjoyed the story. The setting is quite different and adds to the intensity of Pete and Scottie’s relationship. This duet is one to add to your TBR.
I love a good age-gap romance, and Pete and Scottie are just so good together. I love that Scottie is the older of the two yet seems like the more inexperienced when it comes to relationships and dealing with people. This book completes the duet, and these two do a lot of growing and figuring out what’s important. They have great chemistry, and you can’t help but root for them. In addition to an engaging romance, Ann Grech also paints a wonderful picture of the Outback, including the wildlife, and she does it in a way that makes it so easy to picture. The whole thing comes together perfectly, and while this duet may be my first experience with this author, it won’t be my last.
Their reunion.. sigh.
“I found a treasure in the outback worth far more to me than gold.”
Their relationship continues to grow in love but the strains of not being out are beginning to take a toll.
Love and family in the outback. Hard work, perseverance, adversity, following your dreams.
4.5stars
This is the conclusion to Scottie’s and Pete’s story.
Scottie and Pete are at a crossroads both in their relationship and in their lives.
When truths are revealed their lives are thrown into chaos.
They need to work together to protect everything they hold near and dear, the land, their families and most of all each other.
The guys need to get over their fears, their doubts and their pasts so they can finally get their happily ever after.
I loved the conclusion to this duet
What an awesome read. I loved both the books in this duet, can’t pick a favourite. A beautiful romance but oh, so much more. Ann Grech portrays life in the outback vividly, painting a picture of just how hard every day can be. The story is well written, full of emotion, drama and sexy nights. Surrounded with great characters and a landscape that just might really hold a mystery.
Outback Treasure – Book 2, takes of where Book 1 finished. Scottie and Pete’s relationship is rekindled and given an opportunity to become more. Although Scottie continues to hold back, worried what others will think, until love wins in the end.
I don’t want Pearce Station to be over.
I think I enjoyed Book 2 more than 1 although I loved both.
Plenty of outback action in this one.
Scottie learns what it is like to care so much for someone you can barely function when you’re apart.
Pete learns there is more than one danger for a city boy in the outback.
Will Scottie take the final step to ‘come out’ or will Pete’s acceptance of him being in the closet keep him there?
This is a great duet and one I highly recommend. Ann never disappoints with her writing.
This story continues on directly from the first book, so if you haven’t read that you need to and it’s such a great story, a total delight to read.
Scottie and Pete together make a fantastic couple, it seems that opposites do attract but when it’s all said and done they really weren’t that opposite in many ways. Both are diligent workers, both physically and with research, both are dedicated to the land- sure Pete became more in sync with the outback through his experience but love it and appreciate it- he did. Both enjoy the relationships with family and friends/co-workers on the station and both have a deep abiding love for each other. They both understand the delicate situation of ‘being out’ as well.
The descriptions of the land are amazing and extremely vivid in detail, it again makes you want to jump in the car and visit; maybe not in summer so much. It does get blazing hot out there.
The hardships faced by being a landowner are further explored and so well. The recent drought we have been through was so perfectly described that it felt like this author actually liked there. There are many intense situations in the story that has you on the edge of your seat and you definitely experience all of the emotions with the characters. Once again, I think that’s one of this author’s best attributes as a writer- she makes her readers feel like participants in the story, not just observers.
A fabulous story that is extremely entertaining and makes up the conclusion to a sensational duet.
