Death and pain. They surround me. Hold me hostage, refusing to let go.But I want to survive. Want to fight. I just don’t know if I have it in me.Maybe dying would be better. It’s the break in the shadows that gives me hope. When I look at him, all I can see is light. So now I’m out to find freedom.Private investigator Ryan Warden doesn’t know he’s moved next door to people he would put behind bars … door to people he would put behind bars in an instant. Nor does he realise a sleepless night could lead him on the right track with the case he’s working on.
He certainly doesn’t expect Emerson Spence.
What he does know is he has to stay away from her. She’s been beaten and broken. She deserves to live freely while learning and experiencing things in life like any young woman should.
He’s too old for her. It’s better to stay away.
If he can.
Author’s note: Out to Find Freedom starts out intense and dark, then moves into a very slow burn romance. It’s also set six months after No Way Out (Stoke and Malinda’s story from the Hawks MC: Ballarat Charter) but it can be read as a standalone.

Another Lila Rose book you must read. Starts our dark and then comes into the light in a wonderful way. Though I did want to smack Warden fro taking so long at one point. However, Emmie did have to heal. So I forgive him:)
Emmie is betrayed by those that are suppose to protect her after she loses her father. After the living nightmare she faces, she sees her neighbor and there is something about him. So I reach out and send a text and one text changes both their worlds. I loved Emmie and Ryan, I couldn’t put this book down. Highly recommended.
A captivating, suspenseful, heart wrenching, intense, but beautiful journey to go on with Warden and Emerson. This story gripped my heart from the beginning, kept me on my toes, made me tear up, and left me all warm and gooey with a smile in face. I absolutely loved this book. Lila Rose knocked it out if the park once again.
This book completely threw me for a loop. I was so emotional and raw reading it. The beginning is this nightmare you hope you’re dreaming about. The author hits on some dark subjects, but does it in a beautiful way that drags you in from the beginning. She has a way with words and darker themes that will hit right in the gut. It is a dark, emotionally raw and real story of overcoming your past to find your future. The secondary characters in this book were amazing and played such a critical part in Emmie’s story!
Emmie has been put in the worst situation. She finds someone to help her, but fears what will happen if they do. She is a strong woman who shows overcoming your past can happen. Ryan is this strong male who is at the right place at the right time. He goes through this journey with Emmie and they get everything they’ve ever wanted!
I devoured this book the last night when it was released. I have always been madly in love with this author and her MC world. I am addicted to her Hawk MC Series and it’s spinoff.
I am sitting here the next day still trying to process what I read last night and my heart is racing thinking about this story. The first half is full of intrigue and darkness. OMG I was even yelling at my kindle a few times. “GET OUT, GET OUT” kept running through my mind. Eek SO INTENSE!
Emmie is AMAZING! I love her. She is a true definition of a survivor and awesomely resilient. Just thinking about her makes me want to cry or hug her.
Ryan Warden has been in several other books by this author and he is getting his own story here. This makes me crazy, excited cause I have always loved him. Ugh he totally surpasses all expectations in this book. He has the hot, alpha male that I love.
This story has a slow burn in the romance department which is appropriate because of the other issues faced in the storyline. Abuse and the age difference cause Ryan to tap the brakes for a good portion of this book. Read it! You will see what I mean. Haha! I so need a good book group right now to discuss this book. I am struggling keeping this review spoiler free. Wink!
Two last things that I loved about this book . This author takes us back in time between two of her stories from several years ago. GENIUS! It is so necessary for a good telling of this story.
What makes my heart happiest about this book is my beloved characters Julian and Mattie are back. I want to cry just thinking about how amazing these two men are. They felt like superhero’s the way they took Emmie under their wing and helped her live again. SO FLIPPING GOOD!
I loved the roller coaster ride of emotions this read took me on. Definitely five star worthy. Plan to be left reeling by the end of Emmie and Ryan’s story. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
I’ve read almost all of Lila Rose’s books, but I can wholeheartedly say that I wasn’t prepared for what happens in her newest release, Out to Find Freedom, and the main reason is due to the horrific existence Emmie found herself in after the death of her father and the mistreatment and neglect from her stepmother.
Emmie is a strong, determined, and selfless heroine. Despite everything that happened to her at the hands of sadistic people who would do anything for money, she didn’t want anyone else to get hurt and she protected others by staying silent, by accepting her situation for what it was, and no matter how many scars or marks plagued her body, she endured because she had no other choice.
Warden is extremely intelligent and protective and those characteristics shine through when Emmie first begins communicating with him, and while I could have throttled him for steering clear of Emmie despite his attraction and feelings for her, I understood the position that he was in and why he saw things that way, but I’m glad he got out of his own head and went for it.
There was nothing normal about the way that Emmie and Warden met, but without that line of communication to the outside world, Emmie would not have survived, so while the circumstances surrounding their initial interactions are unusual and lead Warden to question his attraction to her and his feelings for her, it’s clear that what they share is special and unique and something that they both seem to need after everything they both went through to be able to see each other in person.
Julian, once again, shows why he can be as diva as he wants to be around these alpha bikers and their old ladies. He’s earned their trust, love, and respect in how he handles out of control situations, and he and Mattie are there for Emmie in the way only they can be. Julian may be loud, eccentric, and overly flirtatious, but his heart is huge and when somebody is in need of help, either with kind words, warm huggable arms, or a safe place to stay, he comes through every single time.
I’ll never tire of Lila Rose’s biker worlds; the Hawks are one of the first MC clubs I read when I started reading romance stories, which means they’ll stay with me always.
4 Poison Apples
What can I say with out giving too much away?
Ryan Warden had finally moved into his new home. He knows nothing about his neighbors, they keep to them selves, nothing unusual there. Thing is, Ryan would be horrified if he discovered any of the depravities that innocent house held.
When late one night, a mysterious text from an unknown woman grabs his attention. His interest is peaked, her answers are a little short, they don’t tell him much about herself which makes him want to know more. She sounds strained and unhappy.
I loved this story. Sure it broke my heart but Emmie had such hope and it was this that kept her strong. Ryan was a great character too, I liked him a lot. This was a very emotional for story, it was very well developed and nicely written.
A definite must read!
Amazing and beautiful. A story that will have you heart strings singing. A tale of overcoming adversity and fighting for what you want.
The Hawks MC are back in this fantastic spin-off book. I swear that group of man make my knees weak *swoon*. In this book we follow Ryan Warden, PI working for Violet Marcus, Talon Marcus Hawks MC President sister.
Warden has been in the background in one way or the other. He comes more into play when there is a hint that he might have an interest in Malinda in No Way Out. However, they soon become fast friends, much to Stoke’s dismay lol.
Warden is a very private person. Tall, build and broody, just how I like my men. Beneath the tough exterior is a bleeding heart. He takes his job as a PI very seriously and his current case has Warden busting a gut to do some damage.
Emerson knows pain. Losing her father is devastating. Living with her Aunt is painful. She is quietly biding her time until she turns 18 and can move out. Then the unthinkable happens. Emerson arrives home early from a date and what she sees shapes the next two years of her life. Emerson has known emotional pain but now she will experience a physical pain more brutal that anyone can ever imagine.
Emerson is such a nice young girl. She has a heart of gold and wouldn’t harm a fly. The torment and abuse she suffers is disgusting. But to overcome her demons and face her fears will be Emerson’s biggest challenge.
Her saving grace is when a much older gentleman moves into the vacant house next to her prison. This just so happens to be Warden. He is her light in the dark. She feels drawn to him immediately, even though he has no idea she exists. She watches, she waits, she dreams.
It is Warden to the rescue. He is hit instantly in the chest with one look at Emerson. Even knowing how much younger she is, his feelings will not be silenced. Not matter how hard he tries to fight them.
Warden and Emerson are probably one of the most unlikely couples you would put together. With the age difference and personalities, but they work so well. Emerson has a lot to overcome in her life, but with her inner strength to guide her there is nothing she cannot concur. Warden is the type-A alpha male, once he puts his feelings out there that is it the woman is claimed and she is his, and there is nothing that Warden will not do for his woman. To make it so long only having meaningless superficial relationships to scratch an itch Emerson is a totally different ball game for Warden, but he plays ball very well. This couple will melt your heart. A slow burn that ignites a forest fire!
I absolutely loved this book!!! This author has a way to suck to reader in and hold them hostage until the last page. The story is emotionally draining in the best of ways. Emerson is dealing with the death of her father and the ultimate betrayal leaves her fighting for her freedom. Emmie has been through the wringer but she still perseveres with the help of Ryan. He is a born protector and is just what Emmie needs. I loved the two of them together! I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!!
This author has been on my radar to read with this one doing the calling. Ryan is the kind of character that knows how to pull my strings with this story being a deep one. Drama heads up this one giving us a edge at times that keeps us on our toes. Emerson has you thinking and hoping when her story comes out. Raw emotions will pour out with you finding you have your mouth hanging open at times. This author certainly had my number with having the ability to have me come back to another one of her page turners.
Out to Find Freedom by Lila Rose is the story of Ryan Warden and Emerson Spence.
Emerson has had a tortured life where she should be broken but she is strong in her own rights. Ryan is a PI who has seen a lot of course. But with Emerson nothing can set him up for her and what she had to live through. Although he is older and he knows how broken she should be he can’t stop his feelings for her from growing.
This is a dark, emotional read that will take you on a roller coaster of emotions.
I hope to read more books from Ms. Rose in the future.
Out to Find Freedom can be read as a standalone, but you will see that it has ties to the Hawk MC and our all time favorite, Julian. Oh boy, your heart is going to hurt, you will see red and have some tears! This story is twisted, and I still try not to shudder with what could have transpired if something that Emmie found was not found. I’ll leave it at that.
Emerson is a ray of sunshine even in her darkness and she deserves to set Out to Find Freedom. Warden gave us a little surprise as well based upon something we would not think the PI has in him. Moving next door never did Ryan (Warden) expect to find clues that may help him in his job. There is so much more I wish I could say, but that would leave to spoilers so I am just going to say that Lila upped her darkness on this story and while it had you in tears, it left your heart full.
I’ve loved all of the Hawks MC books. And, in one way or another, they have all been drama filled, emotional books. Just the way I like it. But this book is different. From both the other Hawks books, as well as most other romance stories out there. A good part of the book is about the struggle the heroine has to go through to get to her HEA. This isn’t one of those books that is about a guy and a girl and how they are fighting an attraction to one another. This book is raw, and gritty, emotional and will leave your heart flayed open.
Emerson is just a girl, struggling with the death of her father. Until betrayal, and horrific circumstances leave her fighting for her life, and her freedom. Through her struggle, she catches a glimpse of Warden, and he gets her through some of her toughest times.
This book was absolutely amazing! I can’t help but feel that Emerson is probably one of the strongest characters that I’ve read about. I don’t want to say too much, give away too much, but her ordeal would destroy a lesser character. I adored her, and Warden, and their story struck a chord within me. It was a beautiful story of overcoming tragic circumstances and coming out stronger on the other side. This book is a must read, whether you are a Hawks MC junkie (like me) or are just beginning to read their stories.

Warden finally gets his own book and it was fantastic! When Ryan Warden moves into a new house, he has no clue of what exactly is happening with the family next door. He has no clue what horrors that house holds. When he gets a mysterious text late one night, he is intrigued. Something about the woman texting him makes him wonder just who she is. When he figures that out, will he be able to help her out of her … situation?
The blurb for this was a bit ambiguous so I’m trying very hard not to leave any spoilers. This was a really good story! Lila Rose wrote a story that played like a movie in my head and I loved every minute of it. I give this 5 stars.

This started off quite dark with what was going on with Emerson and it gripped me from the start. Emmie has dealt with quite a lot for years thinking there was no end in sight to her misery, then Ryan Warden moved in next door and for some reason he gave her hope, or at least something to hope for. This was a bit of an emotional one that’s for sure. Lila went a bit dark on us and it was so so good but what else would you expect from Lila Rose. This was a really good story and I thoroughly enjoyed it and I give Out to Find Freedom 5 stars.
