I love the ongoing story of Father Tim and Cynthia. Read every book in the series. You won’t be sorry.
Jan Karon is my favorite author! The Mitford Series is so good that I have read it over again & probably will continue to read it for years to come!
Fun to read. Can’t hardly put Jan Karon’s books down.
I love this whole series of books.
Further in depth study of Father Timothy and his town.
All of Jan Karon’s books are wonderful. They have a great storyline, entertaining, wholesome and entertaining. I highly recommend her books.
You don’t have to be religious to enjoy the book.
These books are very delightful to read and enjoyable.
I love Father Tim and this wonderful series. This one’s not my favorite, though. The story unfolded very slowly and I got impatient! The dialects of the characters were painstakingly written, making the text difficult to read. But if you choose to read it, hang in there. The loose ends are all tied up and your heart will be warmed and blessed.
I own and have read every book she has written and have loved them all. I highly recommend this series to one and all.
My wife and I listened to the entire series together as audiobooks.
Wonderful series!
Her Mitford series is the best you can read for excellent writing and heartfelt characters.
“‘All your circumstances are in the hand of God,’ [Oswald]Chambers wrote, ‘ so never think it strange concerning the circumstances you’re in.'”
This is the fourth book of the Mitford series. Father Tim, Cynthia, Dooley and the whole cast are back and dealing with change as people get older. As much as this sleepy little southern village hates change, it’s inevitable, for better or for worse.
The Cavanaughs are really retiring; but can they handle that changes and what about the parish? The Mayoral election is heated: do they embrace change or let Mitford “take care of its own”? Will Sweet Stuff Bakery be sold? And what does Father Tim do when a corporation makes an offer on Fernbank? Can the rest of the Barlowe kids be found? And, where will the Cavanaughs live after retirement?
Most of these questions do have answers, but leave it to Tim to “pray the prayer that never fails” and get the answers everyone needs. Highly recommended 5/5
All the Mitford books are absolutely wonderful.
I LOVE Jan Karon’s writing! This is another of the books about Father Tim of Mitford. Her characters teach me, inspire me, make me laugh and stay with me. I feel like I know them! I have read this whole series 3 times!
“Out to Canaan” is Jan Karon’s fourth book in the Mitford series. As always, she provides a heartwarming, realistic and witty picture of small town life in the NC mountain town of Mitford. One of my favorite things about this series is that varying church denominations get along! I have witnessed that, too but sadly, it is not always so. We in the real world could take lessons from Mitford’s residents! As someone who has worked on several church staffs and thus known ministers “up close and personally,” I appreciate so much how Karon portrays the clergy as very human, yet good, decent people. Her portrayl of small town life is also on target, in my experience. The book never resorts to preachiness, neither in religions nor politics. For anyone looking for wholesome and entertaining novels, look no farther than Jan Karon’s Mitford series.
One of the best of the series.
One of my favorites in the series.
These characters have become part of my family
