OUT OF THE STORM is B.J. Daniels’ first book of the Buckhorn, Montana series—a suspenseful and compelling mystery when Kate Jackson, a widow for twenty years, accepts a marriage proposal and goes on a road trip, but car trouble in a blizzard stranded her in Buckhorn, Montana where she sees a man whom she believes is her dead husband. Jon Harper, with no memory of his past, is hiding from danger, yet he believes Kate might be in danger and is determined to keep her safe. The plot thickens when Kate’s fiancé, Collins, demands they continue their “engagement” trip to Canada. OUT OF THE STORM is Kate’s emotional roller coaster ride into intrigue, distrust, and danger. BJ Daniels captivates this reader with a well-executed plot, atmospheric danger, and chemistry, not to mention how each character’s role affects the story’s stunning conclusion. Whew! What a ride! I received this complimentary copy from the author in exchange for my honest review. OUT OF THE STORM will be released on December 29, 2020.
Great reading and liked the ending.
Loved it! It isn’t the kind of book I usually read but enjoyed it so much I’m continuing to read more.
A very good story often very intense. Truly a once in a lifetime love.
Emotional with a rich depth of love. OUT OF THE STORM is the first book in the Buckhorn, Montana series by B.J. Daniels and I loved it so much that I just added book two to my TBR pile! We’re taken on a journey of finding a lost love, but there’s a secondary story of mystery and danger going on at the same time that really holds your attention. My heart was stolen by great core characters and an endearing story.
Kate Jackson is loyal and caring. She lost her husband a couple of decades ago, but she’s never given up hope that she would find him one day still alive. Now she thinks she’s done it in small town Buckhorn, but the look-a-like she’s seen is telling her she hasn’t.
She’s on the verge of moving forward with her life, but if there’s even a small chance that it’s him, she can’t live with herself if she walks away.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a small town romance rich with love, turmoil and a happily ever after.
Kate a widow of twenty years always believed her husband was still alive but knew she needed to move on. She is on a road trip to Canada with her fiance, when a snow storm strands them in Buckhorn Montana. While there she meets, Jon Harper a a carpenter. She swears this is her beloved husband, Danny. Jon denies this but feels some sort of connection to Kate, he fears for her life. As he is protecting Kate’s life, his past will also come out.
Loved this story of second chance romance. The suspense and intrigue kept me turning the pages late into the night. This is my first B.J. Daniels book and now I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Great read. This book deals with lost love, newfound love, and an abusive relationship. I liked the story of Kate finding her long lost husband Danny/Jon. Danny suffered a sever traumatic brain injury 20 years ago from a plant explosion. Kate never gave up looking for him. She has no idea that her engagement trip to Montana to see snow will change her life forever. She’s finally agreed to marry Collin, she thinks he’s the man who can help her move on. Little does she know this trip will change her life forever.
Started a little slow and then took off and didn’t stop. Great characters, fantastic story. I look forward to the rest of this series.
4.5 Stars
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, amnesia, suspense and heartbreak.
This is Kate’s story. She lost her husband twenty years ago in an explosion, but his body was never recovered, and she feels it in her heart that he is still alive. When she goes anywhere, she always searches the crowds for him. On a trip she sees him. He’s still her Danny (but goes by Jon) but he is covered in scars and does not know her. He feels a pull to her but does not remember her. He can also feel the danger that surrounds her. Can he protect her? What happens when secrets are revealed? Will they have a second chance at forever? Or will she be lost to danger?
I loved these characters. This book had a ton of laughs. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
I wasn’t sure if I would like this book at first. Once I started reading I could not put it down!! I can not wait to get the 2nd one in this series. I would definitely recommend this book!!!
Soulmates love story
OUT OF THE STORM has soulmates, suspense, danger, deception, hope, perseverance, and a bit of romance. I enjoyed the plot of this story and the varied characters. I was so emotionally invested in the outcome that the pages kept turning. Buckhorn is an interesting town and I’m eager to read book two releasing 2/23/21
Out of the Storm by B.J. Daniels is her first book in the Buckhorn Montana Series. This is also my first book of this wonderful author and I found it quite good! It is definitely not your normal romance novel! It is not only packed with heartfelt emotion but also has a lot of page turning suspense!! The twist and turns will put you on the edge of your seat until you realize you are at the end of the story! I enjoyed this suspenseful romance and I am looking forward to the next book in this series! If you are looking for a fast paced book with romance, mystery, intrigue and excitement then I recommend you read Out of the Storm!
Sometimes you’re taken in a direction you hadn’t intended to go in. Fate will do that. Kate has suffered from the loss of her husband, yet can’t totally move on. Even when she tries, there’s always that little feeling inside that won’t totally let go of the past. A story about second chances, believing in what’s in your heart, and a HEA. What is meant to be will always find a way.
Talk about a second chance. You get some, action, suspense, romance, heartache and love all rolled-up into this book. When Kate loves someone she never lets go. I’m not sure after 20 years I would still be looking for my husband but I guess when he’s your soulmate that’s what you do. Fate has decided these two have had enough heartache in their lives and found a way to bring them back together. I would have liked an epilogue or a whole other book about these two after the ending.
Holy Smokes
What an exciting and captivating story. The suspense is great. The story draws you in from the first page. I couldn’t put it down.
The world is smaller than we think and this story makes you believe it. A lost love or a total stranger? Kate goes by her gut and knows that Jon Harper is her deceased husband. Jon has never seen Kate before, but knows that there is something that is happening between them. This is first in the Buckhorn, Montana series and I look forward to reading the rest.
This is the first book in a new series by the author. I love that it takes place mostly in Montana. Packed with lies, secrets, kidnapping, suspense this book will keep you captivated until the very end. I was on edge needing to know what was going to happen. Not wanting to put it down, not wanting the story to end.
Kate lost her husband 20 years ago in an explosion at work. She is finally moving on and after dating Collin for several months she agrees to marry him. Never seeing snow before he plans an engagement trip. Not all is what it seems. Nothing goes as planned. Car brakes down in Buckhorn Montana and they are stuck for a short time.
On a walk through the small town Kate hears the high pitch squeal of a table saw which reminds her of her father so she looks towards the sounds and sees a carriage house and is drawn to it. The wood scent and sound of the sander has her going in and she sees a man that reminds her of her dead husband. This has happened before. She is drawn to him and goes back again and again not making Collin happy in fact his true colors come out quickly and the real reason of this trip become clear.
This is the first book that I have read of B.J. Daniels. It was fabulous. It certainly will not be my last. She has a wonderful way of weaving the story so you feel as if you are a part of it.
It’s been a while since I’ve visited Montana with BJ Daniels, and now I want to read them ALL! Seriously, the town is one of those places, that even in a blizzard had a little bit of magic, at least for some people.
Now, Kate has some interesting history with her love life, pregnant at 16, eloping at 17, hubby dies when she’s around 19 in a refinery explosion and she has 2 kids and she never get over him. But now 20 years later she meets another guy, gets engaged, goes on a surprise “engagement trip” and breaks down in Buckhorn.
Seriously, there’s so much going on, but it doesn’t feel rushed, and I love when small town populations bet on the outcomes of relationships, I want all those books! The characters in this town, and let me tell you, some of them are real characters, make the story so much more. And Kate shows a strength I’m not sure she even knew she had.
New to me author , loved the storyline , fast pace action , romance and suspense, will be reading more from this author!
