All’s fair in love, war…and reality TVNothing ever came easy to Angie Russo. Hard work, loyalty, and sheer grit made her the kick-ass realtor she is today. But when her best still isn’t good enough, Angie decides to try something different. Maybe a stint on the new real estate reality show can give her the notoriety she needs to push her firm to #1. Her chances of winning the show’s prize are … chances of winning the show’s prize are high…until she meets the entitled, cavalier, and all-too-sexy jerk she’s competing against.
Angie’s big chance is King Hunte’s rock bottom. He screwed up big, and he needs money fast. The silly real estate competition should be a breeze to win. Or, at least it would be, if not for the sassy, determined, and ridiculously desirable Angie. King’s suddenly forced to work harder than he ever has, and he’s shocked to find that he actually enjoys it…almost as much as he savors the combustible chemistry he shares with his prickly co-star.
Just as Angie discovers there’s more to King than meets the eye, King realizes Angie could be the key to the life he’s always secretly wanted. When a ghost from the past emerges to threaten their future together, Angie and King must overcome the obstacles the show—and life—throw at them, or see their shot at love end before the first commercial break.

King Hunte…son of rockstar legend Braxton Hunte, playboy, socialite, living off daddy’s trust fund.
Angie Russo…struggling real-estate broker, never going to find another love, TV show applicant.
These characters, the storyline, the heat…so well written!!!
To help her struggling real estate company, Angie (Angela) decides to apply for a reality TV show with real estate challenges, and gets paired up with none other than King for the show. King is still struggling with his relationship with Braxton Hunte, his father from book 1 (Out of the Red), when he makes some terrible life-changing decisions and is forced to find a job…reality TV will work, right?
This second book in the Hunte Family series written by author Arell Rivers, has many characteristics of a wonderful read. The great characters, the storyline, the dilemmas, the denied attraction, family issues…so many perfect things wrapped up in this fantastic read! This book addresses drug abuse, divorce, and reality TV. I really, really enjoyed this book, and it is best if you read book 1 first, so you understand the history and dynamics of the family. 5 reality TV stars from me!
I have to admit that when I started this story I didn’t like King and was hesitant to continue. Well let me say that I’m glad I did not listen to myself and continued reading because it turned into a unique read that I did not want to put down. Angie and King had me entertained from their banters to their instant chemistry. The storyline was fun with a twist that I definitely did not see coming. Love the idea of happiness and those getting what they deserve with all different emotions thrown in. Part of a great series but I definitely liked this story more than the first one. Can’t wait for Melody’s story.
When I received this ARC, I had not heard of this series. I decided to read the first book before I started Out of the Shadow. I am so glad that I did because it helped me understand King’s character and his family dynamic better. I fell in love with this series and can’t wait to read the next book Melody’s story. I loved that chemistry between King and Angie. This story made me laugh and cry. I had many different emotions while reading this book. I loved the banter between King and Angie. After reading the first two Hunte family books, I have become a quick fan of Arell Rivers. I am not only going to read Melody’s book when it comes out, but I am going to find other books of hers and read those.
This was such a pleasure to read! King is the trust fund baby of Braxton, a wildly popular rock star, and he lives up to the spoiled rotten image you would have. Angie is an up and coming real estate agent who needs a break. The two meet on a reality show. They don’t like each other at all. Their story is one of love and redemption. I really enjoyed King’s growth throughout the book. Angie was there to support him and show him the meaning of family.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
Wasn’t sure what I was expecting from King, but this wasn’t it. His character was a pleasant surprise, going from a spoiled playboy to a focus, responsible person was an interesting journey. Loved how opposite the leading female Angie is from King. She knows what she wants and is totally focus and driven on her goals. The banter between these two was humorous at times and kept you reading to find out how they were going to interact next. This a great story and the few twists and turns really make this one that is worth reading.
This is the much anticipated 2nd book of the series and what a book it is!! I love the story of Angie and King. Angie is a hardworking realtor that has not had anything given to her. King is the son of rockstar Braxton Hunte from book one. When you meet him in the book he seems to be spoiled but once you peel the layers back you see there’s a lot more to him than what you thought. Angie really helps you see the man he is.
I love these two characters together! There’s a lot of banter and you get all the feels from this story. Arell Rivers did an amazing job of describing the characters and it is all around well written. There are times you’re tearing up but you will finish this story with a smile. I recommend this book and series to everyone and I look forward to the next book!!
I have been a fan of Arell Rivers since the Hold Series and the Hunte Family Series does not disappointment. Out of the Shadow is the second book in the Hunte Family Series. It is King Hunte’s story. King is the son of Braxton Hunte, we first met him in Braxton’s story as just a young boy. Now he is 34, all grown up and the quintessential rich, spoiled, playboy who knows nothing of the real world until Daddy cuts him off.
The characters are well developed. The story is great. I personally love stories that begin with the characters having an immediate dislike of each other. At their first meeting, King and Angie’s dislike of each other and antagonistic bickering with each other was so fun to watch. When I read a well written book I see the story as a movie in my head. I wasn’t the only one amused by their bickering, it was what made the producers pick them to star in the Reality Show.
Angie and King learn a lot from each other as they soften toward each other. They are both extremely surprised by and initially refuse to admit, even to themselves, their attraction to the other. Their growing friendship helps both to heal and become whole. Together they are dyno-might. At first glance, King’s story may seem similar to Braxton’s, which it is, but at the same time it’s a whole lot more.
If you like like any or all of Ms. River’s previous books, you will love Out of the Shadow. I can’t wait for Melody’s story to come out later this fall.
Out of the Shadow is book 2 in The Hunte Family series. King is an entitled Ahole and has his world turn upside down when his father cuts him off and he has to find his own way for the first time in his life. Heartbreak has kept Angie alone for 10 years and with a promise she wants to keep she decides that a Reality Show is the best way to help her Real Estate business. This pair are at each other’s throats from the start but behind the scenes the realisation that appearances may not be all they seem. One click to see if King and Angie get their HEA.
Out of the Shadow is an emotional story of love, loss and confrontations. Two people who are lonely who handle the isolation differently. King is the prime example of a rich spoiled guy but when circumstances change he has to finally grow up. Angie has placed her heart on hold with a huge fortress around it never letting go of what she had in the past. As the chemistry heats up between these two, things not only become explosive but a heartfelt connection is developing. As one of them runs towards it, the other runs away. As drama, confusion and jealousy rain down on these two it might all just be too late for them both to discover what fate had planned for them. Their story is dramatic, passionate, touching with a huge amount of heat. A beautiful love story that will bring two people out of the darkness to discover that living life holds all the promise of a bringing them into the light to ignite their heart and soul.
Starts with King Hunte talking on the phone to his father. His father tells him what he saw the Gossip article and picture of him with Trevor and because of that his father tells him he is cutting off his trust fund. King has to find a job and this is how he meets Angie. Angie has her own real estate agency. I enjoyed reading what happens and love the end! I recommend this book !!!!!
*** 4.5 stars ***
Out of the Shadow: Imagine Being Braxton Hunte’s Son (Hunte Family #2) by Arell Rivers is a contemporary, enemies to lovers, workplace romance told in first person, dual POV. Although it’s the second book in a series, it can be read as a standalone.
When his rockstar father cuts him off financially, King Hunte is forced to get a job for the very first time in his life. So, when the opportunity arises for him to star on a reality real estate TV show where he will compete in a series of challenges, he can’t pass it up. He’s not looking forward to working, but he doesn’t really have a choice. Besides, it’s reality TV, how hard could it be?
Realtor Angie Russo is in financial trouble and she’s counting on this TV show to give her agency the publicity needed to make it a success. She can’t believe they cast King Hunte as her costar. He’s spoiled, entitled, and has no real estate experience. Is this a joke? King’s so arrogant and irritating, if Angie didn’t need to win the prize money, she’d quit.
I loved Angie and King’s story. Their competitive banter and scorching hot chemistry were so fun to read. As characters, they were both well-developed, multifaceted, and relateable with much more depth than initial impressions revealed. The story covered a full spectrum of emotions. It was witty, fun, emotional, steamy, romantic, and suspenseful – with a heart-stopping twist! I thoroughly enjoyed the ride!
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
4 1/2 . I really enjoyed seeing two people that needed healed in completely different ways come together. King was raised with a silver spoon in his mouth, and from the outside his life looked perfect. You don’t always know what happens behind closed doors. He’s devastated by the loss of a trust fund, and life as he knows it is over. Then he meets Angie. Her loud, Brooklyn family couldn’t be more different from his. Wrapped up in her own loss, she’s hesitant to get close. They bond over a love of real estate.
Loved it! This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone but I advise reading the first book so you know the back story and get to know some of the characters. I really enjoyed this story of King and Angie lots of twists and turns and I could literally feel the chemistry between these two!
Great HEA ending and great journey to get there. Overall 5 stars from me and I definitely recommend!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book
I loved this book! It had me going through all of the “feels” and then back again! I really made me LOL (sorry to those over at Starbucks that kept staring at me 🙂 ) I think that the reason this read made me laugh so hard was Angie’s large, Italian family, and King, who did not have much of a family. It touched me so much because it reminds me so much of my husband and myself. Two different people from two different places and all of the sarcasm that comes with it. FANTASTIC read!!
I absolutely loved the first book in this series, but I wasn’t quite sure how much I would enjoy this particular book since it was about Brax’s son (that was pretty invisible in the first book, but I still knew of him). Man – this book did NOT disappoint. Once again, Arell provided an absolute page turner of a novel that’s romantic in an unexpected way.
King and Angie are seriously two total opposites. I gigglesnorted when they got put together, but it was obvious from the very beginning that they were NOT a good match. But then, as the story wound on – and they started to accept each other and break through their walls – it turned into something romantic and magical and fun. I really enjoyed watching the two of them grow from the ashes and emerge stronger and better – both together and individually. Both went through so much heartache (in different ways), and Angie’s backstory nearly had me in tears at some points. But to see them both overcome their past and grow into an amazing future had me reading this book into the overnight hours. It was worth the late night I spent devouring this book, because it was just that good.
Thanks to Arell for providing an advanced copy of this book – it was incredible, and I can’t wait for the next chapter in this series!
I loved this book! It made me laugh, and it made me cry. It was fun watching the interaction between Angie’s large, Italian family, and King, who felt like he never had much of a family. The characters had such depth, I felt like they were friends I was reading about. Can’t wait for Melody’s book!
This is the story we’ve been waiting for from Arell Rivers! Out of the Shadows is the story of Braxton Hunte’s song, King. Is he really the spoiled, lazy wastrel he appears to be or is there much more to him than we suspected?
Angie is so refreshingly real. She’s smart and sassy with a heart of gold. She has been through heartache and is determined to make a go of her real estate business in one of the toughest markets there is…the Hamptons! Dealing with the rich and famous doesn’t intimidate this tough, Italian girl from Brooklyn; it motivates her. She will do anything to make her business thrive, even if that means she has to hire King Hunte to work for her and be on a reality TV show!
Sparks fly, hearts melt, tears flow and I’m not going to say anymore! You’ve got to read this!!!
This story really captured me from the minute I opened the first page. I wasn’t sure what to make of it at first. I had no preconceived ideas of what this story was going to be like so I was really surprised when the story took a sudden turn from what I thought it was going to be. The plot of the story was extremely unique. At least I thought it was.
King is the guy who has it all…or so you think. Looks can be deceiving as we get to know and really delve into King’s past ad present. Everyone loves him. It looks like the world is his oyster. It’s exactly what he wants everyone to see, except for maybe one person. The question becomes, is he ready to escrow his heart?
Angie is the girl who works hard for everything she has and everything she is trying to achieve in life. She has dreams and lists and a past she is desperately trying to hold onto. Angie can’t really see anything or anyone changing her mind to a different type of forever but learning to adapt on a temporary basis is something she is willing to try.
Watching these two, individually and together, is such a treat. It like witnessing a metamorphosis and at times an awakening. With it we also feel the heartbreak of both the past and the present. I don’t do spoilers cause you need to read the book. It’s so worth it. I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t stop reading. The book compelled me to see how this all played out. I had to see if there was an agreement in the works or would the deal fall through.
As if all this wasn’t enough there’s intrigue, smiles, villains, witty banter, drama, romance, beautiful family relationships as well as not so beautiful relationships, loyalty, disloyalty and heat! This book brings all the feels.
I have read the author’s previous book in this series and really enjoyed it but I think this one is even better. Color me surprised! This book is a standalone but there are characters from the previous book that definitely add to the story. So you might want to check it out.
This is only the second book I’ve read from this author but I’ve become a fan. Can’t wait to see what comes next.
I guess you can tell by now that I totally enjoyed this book. Kudos to the author. You sealed the deal on this one!
This was book two in the Hunte Family Series by Arell Rivers and I was blown away. This book is a standalone in the series but if you want to know why King and his father are the way they are, you will need to read book 1 but it is not necessary. King and Angie were a great couple. They both had things that have happened in their past that was shaping how they were in the present. They were brought together because of a reality TV show. The more time they spent together, the closer they got. The chemistry between them was hot. Will they be able to overcome their past to start the future that they both are looking for? I can’t wait for book 3.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book 2 in series but can be totally be read as a standalone …i always recommend reading in order because you know more about the characters background and get glimpses and updates of previous characters. King is the son of rock star Braxton Hunte from book 1, he is all grown up now, rich and entitled living off his trust fund until he gets cut off and has to figure out a way to make money but still live up to his current lifestyle. Thats when he decides to take his friend up on an offer to join reality tv show. This is where we meet Angie, his co-star and owner of the real estate agency thats going to be on the show, hard working and determined to get her agency on the map and #1 in her town. They go from butting heads to opening up to each other about family, childhood, and their past that they’ve never shared with another person! This story has twist that i didnt expect and will make you cry, laugh, and all the above! I absolutely loved King and Angie and how they helped each other find what they’ve needed in their life for so long. Definitely recommend reading! Cant wait for Sara (King’s sister) book next!
