One impassioned argument. One dominating kiss. One unexpected moment that turns everything upside down. And that’s only the opening act.Rockstar Braxton Hunte is the type of chaos that makes your soul burn… Well, maybe he does—he’s never encountered a riff he couldn’t handle, a treasure he couldn’t score, or a woman he couldn’t conquer. No one, especially not a buttoned-down rule-follower like the band’s new tour accountant, is going to change him.
Accountant Sara Anderson is an unabashed stickler for the rules…
Sara’s worked nine long years to make partner, and only one thing stands between her and her goal—Hunte. Now she’s going on their tour to whip the band into financial shape. So long as she gets them out of the red, the promotion will be hers. Those bad boys of rock will be tamed, no matter how yummy their lead singer is.
When rebellion confronts discipline, fireworks explode.
Passions collide, and lives are permanently altered, in this enemies-to-lovers, slow burn standalone romance set in the mid-1990s—when grunge ruled the airwaves and women partners were as uncommon as those new mobile phones.

The love story between these two characters has chemistry from there first encounter. Braxton can’t get the idea out of his head that Sara is out of his league .. smart, loving and sexy. But Sara doesn’t see it that way .. why would a rockstar want an accountant when he could have any bimbo he wants.
But what they both don’t realize is that the love that have for each other is TRUE LOVE .. can the find it or will there thoughts and emotions break them apart ??
This book will give you an .. AHHHH .. moment every chapter !! LOVED IT !! Can’t wait for more of the Hunte family !!
4.5 stars
A great read and story that reminds me of my teenage years so much!
Set in the 90’s with all the music and new waves and rockstars, all the parties and concerts, the out of the normal outfits and so many great songs and lyrics that even today are one of the best songs listened or all-time favourites, the author has created a world that takes us back in time and a story full moments that will live up to your expectations and will prove that love doesn’t care what you do and where you come from. Love just blooms and stay with you through all the obstacles that are showing in your way and gives you hope for a happily ever after.
This story was very well written. It kept me up because I could not atop reading. The emotions hit right in the heart. Such a strong and smart heroine. And I love thise. Some of her quips had me laughing out loud to where my family thought I lost it. Do not miss
Another fantastic read from Arell!! I just loved this one when you have a penny pincher paired up with someone who spends money like there is no end, priceless!!
Brax and Sara are complete opposites. She likes control and he is chaos. I laughed a lot and also loved the chemistry these 2 had and onces that fire was lit, you better be far away!
I can’t wait for the next one in this series as there are many more members of the band that deserve their stories to be told.
Out of the Red by Arell Rivers is a standalone, but it is the first in the Hunte family series.
Sarah has an orderly life. She has worked her butt off, to get a chance at becoming partner at her accounting firm. Sarah is given one final test before the partnership to work with the band Hunte. Braxton Hunte lead singer for The Rock band Hunte does not like to take orders, and especially does not like to follow a budget. Can Sarah convince Brax to take orders with her heart?
Let me start with the cover it is just amazing. ABS on a book cover are nice, but Out of the Red cover is a standout. This book is told from both Brax and Sarah’s point of view which is my favorite, way to tell a story. Arel writes a beautiful Melody about two characters both playing solos, that take a chance on a duet.
I loved this book, for a girl whose teen years spanned the 80s and 90s Out of the Red was like revisiting my youth and oh what a great visit it was.
Brax and Sara are polar opposites on the outside, but they have exactly what the other needs and I can’t wait to see what King has in store for us in the next installment of The Hunte Family Series.
Rockstars are essentially my crack. I love reading about gorgeous, sexy as hell rockstars meeting and falling for the women who end up taming them. Braxton and Sara are the perfect characters to pull that off. I saw many similarities between Hunte and my absolute favorite band, Bon Jovi, which made me love the story even more. It was an extremely slow burn romance. The really good stuff didn’t start until I reached the middle of the book. That along with the fact that Sara was a bean counter, which is one of Brax’s favorite terms for her, are the only reasons I only gave four stars. I just got a little bored by all the numbers talk. Braxton Hunte is the lead singer of the band, Hunte, which isn’t quite as successful as they once were. I loved the fact this story took place in the early 90s due to the fact I spent a lot of time then at rock concerts. There were so many bands back in the 80s that weren’t able to survive due to a lot of changes in the music scene and Hunte is just like those real rock bands. They are playing at smaller venues but still spending money as if they are still selling to sold out stadiums. Thus in comes Sara Anderson, who is working hard to become partner at her accounting firm. As a final test, she is handed the Hunte account to see if she can be the first at the firm to get the band out of the red. In order to achieve her goal, she decides to go on tour with them to see if she can accomplish what others couldn’t. This brings her toe to toe with Brax which starts a heated enemies to lovers story for the ages. You see how a larger than life character like Braxton still has insecurities as does Sara who never saw herself as anything other than plain Jane. They are able to give each other the specific things they were lacking. But then everything pushes in creating angst and doubts. I truly loved the way the author began to bring the story to an ending that had me smiling so hard my face hurt. I’m looking forward to the next installment where we get King’s story. I love any story that leaves me feeling warmth as if I played a part in them reaching their HEA, which this book certainly did.
Arell Rivers had me hooked in the first chapter and I couldn’t put down this awesome book! The explosive chemistry between two vastly different characters will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This book was intriguing. Brax and Sara have such an intense relationship! I just loved this slow burn romance!
**I graciously received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.**
You KNOW a book is good when it makes you feel strong emotions.
This one is one of those books.
From the moment I stepped back into the mid 90s and met Sara, I was hooked. Her storyline is one I haven’t really read in other novels: hardworking business woman who puts work before anything else and is trying to make partner at her accounting firm. She’s independently fierce and doesn’t have a need for anything besides order.
And then she gets put on the Hunte account, and chaos ensues.
Braxton Hunte is HOT. Like, a sizzling ball of rock and roll and hotness. He’s also a jerk when it comes to Sara. At one point during a heated exchange between him and Sara, I actually put the book down because I was so mad at Braxton that I wanted to throw something at him.
Again. You KNOW a book is good when it makes you feel strong emotions.
The evolution of Braxton and Sara’s relationship – from hate to love and everything in between – is one that had me staying up at all hours of the night to get the book finished. Their story is raw, emotional, steamy, fiery, passionate – I can keep going on and on. This isn’t your typical rocker story, which I absolutely loved. Arell Rivers became one of my favorite authors after reading this book; it’s been one of my top three favorite reads this year, for sure.
Wow, what a great read! This book takes you back to the 90s and into the music (and accounting) scene. I liked the existing & building chemistry between Sara and Brax. This book was a quick and attention grabbing read. I highly recommend it. I cannot wait to read more!

Out of the Red: The Braxton Hunte Story (Hunte Family #1) by Arell Rivers is a contemporary, enemies to lovers, rockstar romance told in first person, dual POV that takes place in the 1990s.
Sara Anderson has her work cut out for her. Working toward earning partnership at her accounting firm, she’s been assigned a final test that could either make her or break her. Sara is tasked with getting the firm’s problem client, famous rock band Hunte, out of the red. Determined to succeed where previous accountants have failed, she decides to take a rather unconventional, hands-on approach. By joining Hunte on tour, Sara will be able to see first hand what the issues are in order to make corrections and get their finances back on track and in the black.
Lead singer and guitarist, Braxton Hunte, loves living the rockstar lifestyle. He’s accustomed to expensive nightly parties, high-end alcohol, and an entourage of women that travel with the band to satisfy physical cravings. The last thing Brax wants is some uptight accountant trying to tell him how to spend his own money. He should be able to spend whatever he wants without restriction. He deserves it! He’s worked hard and earned it. So Sara can keep on making budgets, but the only way Brax will follow one is in her dreams.
I really loved this story! I especially enjoyed the nostalgia of revisiting the 90s. There were so many great references that took me back in time. The characters are fantastic as well – likeable, relatable, and believable. Brax and Sara are complete opposites who continue to clash and butt heads throughout the book. Their chemistry is palpable and together they are explosive! Full of witty banter, twists, surprises, and so many emotions. I can’t wait to read what comes next!
*** I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. ***
This is my first book I’ve read from this author and won’t be my last! The story takes you back in time to the 90s, land lines, beepers, no Internet, and rare for anyone to own a cell phone, and definitely not common for a woman to become partner at a firm! Sara, an accountant that has to have everything on order, is trying to get promotion to become partner and of course in this era she has to prove herself beyond measure! She is giving one of the hardest accounts the firm has, The rock band Hunte, always in the red and its up to her to do what no other accountant in the firm has been able to accomplish. Definitely worth the read to see how Sara and Brax’s love story begins, lots of head butting, and sexual tension…ends amazing and can’t wait to King’s story and hopefully Colton (Braxtons best friend and band mate)
Sara the accountant takes her job seriously, is orderly & is not spontaneous. When she has a chance to make partner at her firm, she takes it upon herself to show up in person at Hunte’s tour. Since they are her newest & most difficult client, she needs to get their spending under control. What she didn’t expect is to like Braxton Hunte & be attracted to him. What should have been a one time only encounter ends up being a lot more. But with these two stubborn, head-strong people mistakes are made & anger & frustration come into play. How will Brax & Sara figure things out? This was a great book which introduces us to the rest of Hunte’s band members as well as his son, King. Looking forward to reading his book next!
Brilliant Arell Rivers just Amazing I loved this story so much.
A Rockstar, and an accountant,
One likes order and the other thrives in chaos.
This is the basis of Braxton Hunte and Sara Andersons love story, we go back to the 90’s with this one were grunge is all the rage and so the band Hunte and their music is becoming outdated. They are doing OK but not great and so they needed to get a grip on their erratic spending or they will inevitably become bankrupt. This is were Sara walks into Hunte’s chaotic life to try and organise their spending behaviour, she is an unwelcome presence and Sara and Brax clash on so many levels but the attraction for one another is a powerful thing and it is only a matter of time before this bad boy Rockstar has more than just his spending to worry about.
I really enjoyed this book, it was full of surprises, I love it when unlikely characters get together they may be opposites but they compliment eachother and make eachother better people.
Arell Rivers has written a very sexy, detailed, enthralling book I was completely absorbed into the whirlwind of a life that is the band Hunte and Rockstar Braxton’s world of music, touring and trying to stay on top. I Loved every minute of it.I adore Brax and Sara and their rocky road to love.
I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.
An Excellent read which I highly recommend.
What an amazing story! I loved Brax and Sara from the beginning. Total opposites attract and made for a heck of a story together! Arell never disappoints! I look forward to her next book in the series! This story was so well written and the characters were all fantastic! Absolutely loved it!
As always I enjoy reading Arell Rivers stories. Once again I jumped in with both feet and loved the roller coaster ride. I liked the easy flow to the story and how it evolved over time to such a special relationship. A dash of fun is always a wonderful twist. Hope you also enjoy the story.
Braxton and Sara are probably the most unlikely pair you will ever meet. This book is the true definition of.”Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”, “Expect the unexpected” and “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. All three of these sayings definitely apply to this book for both characters. You are in for a unique experience.
I don’t do spoilers. It’s not fair to the author. If you want specific content you should read the blurb and better yet read the book. I will say that this story has a lot of thought put into it. It brings up the questions of, are first impressions accurate? Can people really change? Do you really know the people you surround yourself with? Does your background define you? Are you really doing what you want with your life? Is it wrong to follow your heart? Can opposites really work? This is just a little of what this book brings to the table.
Sara, is a pretty, organized, accurate accountant with a plan for her life and what she plans on obtaining. She’s driven and determined to follow that plan through to the end. Nothing, not even an arrogant rock star, will get in her way. She’s intuitive and a little uptight.
Braxton, is the rock star determined to stay true to himself and not let anyone tell him what he needs to do. He appears confident, broody and hot. Appearance can be deceiving though.
You’ll also meet a band, some really smarmy and evil people and some really good people that I’d like to see again in future stories.
This story will make you smile, cringe, tear up, get angry, feel sweet emotion and brings the heat. In other words it delivers all the feels.
This is my first book by this author and I must say I really enjoyed it. I read it in one sitting. I had to find out what was going to happen. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Kudos, to the author.
A wonderful start to a new series. I loved the opposites attract aspect of the story. An accountant and a rockstar don’t seem like a likely couple, but it works. It was great seeing Brax start to become responsible. Just as much as it was great seeing Sara loosen up. It’s set in the 90s which brought back great memories for me. The only thing I would change would be to make the Hero taller, but that’s just personal preference. I can’t wait to read the next one. I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. I definitely recommend this book.
Out of the Red is book 1 of the Hunte Family series. This book had me from the first page and couldn’t put it down it made me laugh and I had smile on my face the whole way through. Go on the journey with Brax and Sara you won’t be disappointed.
