It’s all fun and games until someone catches feelings.Sophia Wallace is convinced her life is over when her high school cuts the journalism program. Without the elective, she loses her chance to intern with the biggest newspaper company in the county, and why? All because the baseball team needs more funding.
To make matters worse, her boyfriend publicly dumps her at a party, which is … her at a party, which is mortifying. But the icing on the cake is when the captain of the baseball team and the most popular guy at Bayview High, Walsh Hunter, decides to be chivalrous. He jumps in, throws his arm around Sophia, and declares his undying love for her. In front of everyone.
Suddenly, Sophia is thrown into a world of fake relationships and undercover journalism, and she realizes she’s way, way out of her league.
Good thing she’s got the team captain to teach her how to play.
But faced with choosing between saving her journalism class or her newfound feelings for Walsh, will she strike out or hit a home run?

Couldn’t bear to put it down!
When I received my copy of this book, I opened it up, intending just to read a couple pages, but before I knew it I had read a couple chapters!
I wasn’t able to sit down and read the entire book all at once, and every time I had to stop, it was hard to put it down. I was already excited to jump right back into it.
The story was lighthearted and fun. I loved the depth and growth of the characters. Their stories were fascinating to learn and follow. The writing was snappy and entertaining to read as well. This author’s writing style has quickly become one of my favorite.
And the romance. Wow! Walsh and Sophia were the sweetest. I loved every minute of their relationship. I was rooting for them from the very start!
I found myself smiling so many times throughout the story. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, complete with happy highs and painful lows, all of which were resolved with the perfect happy ending.
I’m definitely going to buy the paperback when I have a chance. I’m a fan!

Gahhhhh, I honestly can’t even begin to express how much I loved this book. Seriously. I was worried that all the drama on Sophia’s side (and also on Walsh’s side) would taint the book and make it hard for me to enjoy…but it didn’t. And while I usually can predict certain aspects of most stories, this one actually had a few unexpected twists!
Y’all, by the end of the book, I realized how much hope this story held…it really showed that even though bad things happen (and it doesn’t look like anything will change for the better), life can surprise you and turn out absolutely amazing. There were so many good lessons. I loved the character development and growth. Sophia was definitely selfish at times, but aren’t we all? And I loved how she was finally able to recognize that about herself and deal with it.
As far as content goes: No language and only kissing/making out. Walsh was shirtless a couple of times. Brief/mild suggestive comments were made. Dishonesty was a big part of the plot. Cheating did happen (not between the main characters). Underage drinking was mentioned. Mostly-absent parents were part of the storyline (I wasn’t triggered by this, but other readers could be). I don’t want to spoil anything, so I will just say that the book does have some more serious themes; BUT, they weren’t very extreme and didn’t overshadow the romance elements. I can’t remember if there was anything else.
Walsh is 100% worthy of being book boyfriend material. I know he wasn’t perfect and made mistakes, but I liked how that just made him more real. I swooned, and swooned, and swooned, y’all.
I didn’t want the book to end, I really didn’t.
Sophie needs to write the best article thus summer in order to get an intership in a newspaper. Will she fake date Walsh, captain of the baseball team, to her advantage without getting her heart involved? A great audiobook abiut friendship, family and integrity
This is the second book in the Love in Fenton County Series, a YA Romance. Sophia and Walsh’s fake relationship romance is fun, sweet, and beautifully written. Sophia is lovely and determined. Walsh is handsome, and caring. The supporting characters are interesting. This is a great YA Romance. Liz Krane did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to If the Broom Fits, the next book in the Series.
This was another home run for indie author Sarah Sutton!
From the first few pages I was hooked. Sophia is a relatable main character and I was instantly drawn into her world. Her dreams became my own and I was rooting for her the entire time. And Walsh is such a sweetheart! I didn’t think I’d like him at first (much like Sophia) but as she fell for him so did I.
This is a perfectly crafted YA romance that I devoured in a matter of days. Any fan of the genre will love this book. Sarah has mastered the art of getting inside a teenager’s mind and making us feel everything she is, from the ups to the downs, to the triumphs and failures. You won’t regret picking this book up!
This was a really cute book! Out of my League is Sarah Sutton’s second book. I enjoyed reading her first book, What are Friends For? and so I decided to try out this one. Sophia Wallace hates the baseball team and for good reason, they are the reason her high school is cutting her journaling program. But life gets worse when her boyfriend publicly dumps her however, Walsh Hunter, the most popular guy at school, jumps in to “save” her. The next thing she knows she is fake dating Walsh while trying to find some dirt on the baseball team to save her journaling dreams. However, the more time she spends with Walsh the more she finds herself falling for him. Is she willing to give up her dreams to be with him?
I liked Sophia better than Remi, the main character in What are Friends For?, but she still kind of got on my nerves. However I understood her and as I read more of the book I found myself liking her more. Sophia’s parents had basically treated her as an adult once she hit high school and so she was very independent. I think that she had to learn what it meant to think of others and what it truly meant to be in a relationship. Sophia was kind and she was very passionate.
I liked Walsh from the beginning. He was so sweet and I can see why everyone has been talking about him. Although he and Sophia were in a fake relationship he really liked her. I really enjoyed reading about them spending time together. Walsh was a sweetheart and I felt so bad for him as Sophia started to learn that his life was not as perfect as it seemed. However, Walsh never changed and I really appreciated that about him, he was stable and perfect for Sophia. I thought that his nickname for Sophia was super cute.
Walsh and Sophia’s relationship was sweet. They both had to figure out how far they wanted this fake relationship to go. I enjoyed reading about them fallin in love and hanging out together. I also liked Sophia’s best friend, Edith. Edith was such a good friend and I wanted her and Zach to end up together. I disliked Scott greatly, he really got on my nerves. I was so nervous about how this book would end. Sophia really wanted her journaling program to come back, and so I was worried that she would choose it instead of Walsh. Luckily everything worked out in the end.
All in all, Out of My League, was a good book. I would definitely recommend it and I can truly say that Sutton’s books keep on getting better. I can’t wait to see what else she writes! Out of My League is a clean, cute teen book, however there are some scenes where there is underage drinking.
4.5
After reading Sarah Sutton’s debut, I knew when I heard about ‘Out of My League,’ I knew i had to read it. Romance is not my genre of choice, but there is just something about Sarah’s writing and characters that I just had to read this. So I chose to read outside of my chosen genres to give Sophia and Walsh a chance. And I’m so glad I did!
Meet Sophia, a high school student whose dreams include an internship with a newspaper, and she is sure that she will get it. At least she is until the newspaper funding gets cut. No journalism program, no internship. Devastated, she decides to throw her fury toward the thieving program that crushed her dreams, and maybe even reinstate the journalism program, too. All she has to do is use her boyfriend, Scott, to squeal on the baseball team and prove that they aren’t deserving of all the extra money.
But then Scott dumps her at the end of school party, in front of everybody, and, to her dismay, Walsh Hunter, despicable captain of the thieving baseball team, proclaims his undying love for her. Sophia despises Mr. Perfect, but when Walsh proposes to be her fake boyfriend, Sophia sees a chance to still get the information. After reluctantly agreeing, Sophia begins to write her report, but can she keep up trying to destroy the baseball team, or will blossoming feelings complicate everything?
This book was fantastic. I loved the characters and the romance was perfect. If you want a fake dating, enemies-to-lovers romance, this book will fulfill your cravings. Sutton’s second novel will give you all the feels and will bring you back to your first experience with love. Exciting and packed with emotion, this book will make you laugh and cry along with the characters. I recommend this to those who love YA romance.
I found this book trough this author youtube channel, and after one video I need it to read this book.
Out of my league follow Sophia a sum to be senior, she just found out that the school is not funding the newspaper anymore and she really need that for her college resume, so she decides to write about how the school privileges the baseball team.
Walsh is the captain of the baseball team (and my newest crush), once he sees Sophia’s boyfriend calling it quits in front of the entire school he decides to step up and say that he always had a crush on her. And just like that Sophia and Walsh start fake dating, but every lie has a little bit of truth.
This book was 5/5 for me and I’m more of a new adult reader than ya, but it was just so cute!
P.S: I need more books by Sarah NOW!
The entire book tugged at my heartstrings.
