The Kordolians are loose on the asteroid mining station Fortuna Tau, and first-rank mechanic Jia Morgan has gotten caught up in the thick of things. Under the careful watch of these steely-eyed silver warriors, Jia and her team have been tasked with repairing the hull of the Kordolians’ Alpha-Class battle cruiser, Silence. The problem is, their alien technology is far, far beyond anything she’s … anything she’s seen before, and whatever they try to weld to Silence’s black hull just won’t stick.
When Jia goes in search of a tool that might actually penetrate the warship’s impossibly strong Callidum exterior, she finds herself being aided by a most unlikely source. The hard-faced warrior who’s decided to accompany her walks on silent feet and carries a big, big gun. He’s equal parts scary and attractive, in an otherworldly sort of way.
But although Jia finds this Kordolian fascinating, she’s not even going to try and get close to him, because, well, he’s a freaking Kordolian, and Kordolians aren’t exactly known throughout the Nine Galaxies for being nice and warm and fuzzy.
Instead, she’s going to do her job and fix their warship, because that’s the only way these intimidating warriors are ever going to leave Fortuna Tau. Hopefully, they won’t break anything, or anyone, on the way out.
Oh, and there’s also the small matter of these flesh-eating insect-aliens called Xargek. Apparently, they bite.
Out of Darkness is Book Four in the Dark Planet Warriors Series. It will make more sense if you’ve read the other books first, although that’s probably not absolutely essential.

Will they be able to escape their many foes …
After finishing last night the latest release by Anna Carven, I was in need of a bit more of Kordolians.
So I went back to Kalan’s story, next will be Rykal. And realized I did not leave a review even if I read it more than one time.
Outside Tarak who always catches the limelight, I wanted to jump back to the origins of the series.
So here we are, back to Fortuna Tau the decrepit space station, back when the Xargek were the only real menace.
Tarak is the eldest of the unit after Tarak, like all of his brother, he has no memory of his youth, only scars to remind him it had been violent. Ugly Eyes as he is nicknamed because of his unusual eyes coloring. A cursed being for his mystical believing people. A walking weapon for any other being. And a monster for thé technology retardés humans.
But a tiny human caught his sight, she does not cower and even went toe to toe against his boss. Completely insane or incredibly courageous, all hidden behind a fragile and delicate appearance.
Jia is a fixer, she finds solutions to most issues, never sitting idle. She does her work, she is honorable and respectful but does not mingle much. But when she sees one of her rare friend harmed, she has no other choice than to trust the alien who swear he will save her and not annihilate her. And it comes with a bonus, she now has her own shadow, one even more dangerous than any of those who wants the humans on the station dead. For the hopeless romantic she is, Kalan is her knight in a nano-armor, a predator to all who want to kill them, her personal arsenal all packed in a yummy silver skinned with sharp fangs elf like warrior.
A fun first glimpse in the first division group of warriors.
The open door to all the others.

I listened to the audiobook version of the story and it was good but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did the previous books in the series. This book gives us Jia and Kalan story, and I have been excited to read Jia’s story ever since she was introduced in the first book. However, I expected more from their characters and their story. Their connection between the two wasn’t as strong and I would have thought it would be and their story lacked the action that the previous stories had. I also found the ending of this one to be more abrupt than the others. I will still give the next book in this series a try.
I couldn’t wait to get to this book in the series, and I wasn’t disappointed. These aliens, the Kordolians, are complete heartthrobs. Sure, they might be tough, don’t-mess-with-us types, but they are sweet. They are tall, impressive, and deadly as they defend their women from these bug-like creatures.
Jia is a tough woman, and I love watching her fix the Kordolians ship, while not taking anything from anybody. She is a tough mechanic, yet she falls for the tall silent warrior who is always nearby and watching.
If I had to jump into a sci-fi novel, I’d choose one of these!
