The jock, the nerd, and a little spring fever… definitely a highlight. And finding out that Logan St. James is bisexual makes everything more interesting.
Logan-
Keeping my big bi secret hasn’t been easy. I have a couple of months of college left and one more game to play. I’m determined to make the most of it and spend as much time as possible with the sexy guy I’ve had a crush on since freshman year. I don’t want this to be over. There must be a way to come out in spring.
Out in Spring is a low-angst MM, bisexual awakening staring a hunky hockey player, a sweet-natured geek, and a little college fun. This story is part of the Out in College series, but each book can be read as a stand-alone.

Loved reading this short. I may have come to this series late in the day but I’m definitely getting there now.
This was a fun read. I loved the interaction between the main characters and their growing romance.
May 19, 2020 edited to add my comments about the audiobook.
Performance – 5
Story – 5
Overall – 5
Out in Spring is the perfect length audiobook for listening to it in one evening. It may be on the shorter side for books by Lane Hayes but it’s not lacking on feels. Because it’s shorter it doesn’t go into as much detail about the characters but I’m a fan of novella length stories and this is a good one.
As usual, Michael Dean (FKA Michael Pauley) turned in an outstanding performance using different voices for each character so that it was easy to distinguish who was speaking. He has narrated all of the books in this series and I loved all of them.
I reviewed the ebook back on May 11th. Below is what I said about the story then.
Short but great story.

Engineering student Ned just can’t believe that hockey player Logan wants him. Logan’s not out as bi but he’s been crushing on Logan for a few years. When a chance meeting at a party gives him an excuse to connect with Ned, he doesn’t hesitate to make the most of his good fortune.
It’s takes a fair amount of convincing before Ned really believes that Logan is interested in him. Once they get on the same page things really heat up and there’s a nice amount of sexy time. Logan’s ex tries to throw a wrench into their relationship but Logan is able to fix that in the best way.
Out in Spring is a great addition to the Out in College series and I’m looking forward to reading more books in this world.

I think Out in Spring should be used as indicative of the jock/nerd trope in MM romace. You have muscled, in love with hockey Logan and the typical bespectacled, geeky Ned. By all accounts they shouldn’t have anything in common, especially when Ned not only wasn’t athletic but had no interest in learning about any sport. In addition, their personalities were completely different, Logan quirky and full of energy as opposed to Ned’s reserved, tranquil personality.
Yet somehow they just clicked, and I had a lot of fun seeing their relationship develop as they spent more time together, from just a crush to love and happily ever after.
Recommended.
I adored these characters and the sweet story was simply adorable. A great little read and one that was easy to absorb and had lots of fun elements.
There is something about a well written short story or novella that makes my heart happy. Maybe it’s the lack of commitment less pages represent- like the perfect little getaway. Regardless, this author is so good at making every moment, phrase, and emotion count and that’s definitely true for Out in Spring.
Incorporating characters from Miss Hayes’s Out In College series as well as mentioning characters from The Leaning Into series, Out in Spring makes for a great read in general, whether as a standalone, a gateway book for new readers, or simply a charming extra for fans. With good characters, a sweet and hot romance, and no angst, Only in Spring delivered a great boost to my day. If uncomplicated romances with polished writing and well-rounded characters are your thing, this title certainly fits the bill.
This is a sweet and hot book that I read a second time immediately after I finished it. Ned and Logan are both strong characters who know who they are and what they want. Both men have a great sense of humor and throw in sexy times, I fell in love with this book. Highly recommended!
5 Stars. What a wonderful short free read. I loved it even though I cried twice. I loved Ned & Logan .
This was such a cute read! Ned and Logan are complete opposites who are just adorable together. It’s a quick read, with little to no angst and drama- just a tiny bit when it came to Logan and his plans for the future. This book gave me the warm fuzzies.`
It was fun to see some of the characters from previous Out in College books, and I just loved the Easter egg Ms. Hayes threw in there!
This book is Excellent….as is the whole series!I
I loved everything about this story! Ned and Logan were so adorable and hot together. Logan could be and often was goofy but you could almost feel his crush on Ned. Ned was serious and flirty…with Logan. Kendra is a hoot and a great friend to Ned.
This may have been a short book, but inside it was a full, well thought out and romantic love story.
Hopefully, like the previous books in this series, we will pop in on the boys or they’ll appear in future books , and we get to see how they are doing in their future.
