I’ve been waiting patiently for this book as I absolutely love the Baytown Boys series. It was definitely worth the wait! Can two wounded people, attracted to each other move beyond their pasts and find love and family?
Carrie Beaumont works hard as a waitress to build a good life for herself and her son Jack. She is stunned when Sheriff Colt Hudson suddenly invites himself into their lives and shows no signs of leaving. When a rash of robberies in the area hits too close to home and a fire damages her duplex, Colt offers the shelter of his home to Carrie, Jack and her elderly neighbor George.
While Colt works to solve the ongoing crime spree, he finds that Carrie, Jack and George have turned his lonely, empty house into a home. When Jack puts himself in danger trying to help a friend, can they get to him in time? Jack is level headed and mature beyond his years. I hope in the future to find him in a book of his own!
I received an ARC of this book but my review is my own.
A wonderful romance between a single mom and a man with the weight of the county on his shoulders. They both had feelings for each other and neither believed they were good enough for the other. I loved the well-written plot and the characters were believable and realistic. I recommend this book as well as the series
I don’t think I will ever get enough of the “Baytown Boys” who are now men and their stories. Ms. Jordan has done it again with Colt and Carrie’s story.
Colt is the sheriff of North Heron County, and has been since coming home from the military. He had no family as they had all passed but his grandparents had left him their house hoping to fill it with family, his family. But alas, even though he was once married, the house remained quiet and not quite lived in. He lived in a house, not a home.
Carrie works in the local diner and she her live revolves around her son and work. She is a single mom who never married and didn’t have it easy being from a poor family but never lacking for love. She has given her son what she can and she has given him a lot of love and male role models.
She and Colt have a thing for each other but neither has acted upon it. It’s gone on for 5 years with neither making a move but also encouraged by their friends and co-workers. It seems that neither thought that they were good enough for the other. Things heat up with a fire in her neighbor’s side of the duplex forces them to move out, Colt steps in an offers all of them a place to stay. Things escalate from there as do feelings and raising an 11 year old who is almost a teenager, so he tells his mom.
As her son stumbles into the middle of an open investigation, Colt stands strong to protect them. There are some heart stopping moments as they close the investigation. Colt is the perfect person for her and for her son.
This story was sweet and I loved that Carrie and Colt had a thing for each other but neither thought that they were good enough. They have insecurities and that’s just like real life. While the book doesn’t say it, I had the feeling that her neighbor George is a surrogate father to her and a surrogate grandfather to her soon. Family isn’t always created by DNA and this is one of them. “It takes a village to raise a child” as the African proverb states, resonates through out this book and if you ask me, though out the series. These stories are down to Earth and Ms. Jordan captures the small town feel and her stories pull you in and make you want to stay awhile. Actually the stories make me want to visit “Baytown” and look for the characters from the series even though they are only fictional people.
Maryann Jordan takes Colt and Carrie on a slow burn of learning to trust and love again bringing them together as a family that shows them this was the love they had been waiting for. Can Colt keep Carrie, her son and her elderly neighbor safe while trying to solve the issue surrounding them? Loved it!!
I absolutely love this series! It’s not just the great love stories, it’s the close knit community, the friends, the families. Throw in a little suspense and passion and you have a series that I go back and read again and again.
I enjoyed Colt and Carrie’s story. It was 5 years in the making but when it finally started watch out!
The special quality of any book written by Maryann Jordan is that the characters are beautiful inside as well as outside. Each story has life lessons woven throughout the pages but due to the exceptional writing, you never feel that they are forced on you. This book is about Colt and Carrie who have had feelings for each other for many years but never thought there was a chance at more than just the distant friendship and respect they have settled into. The beauty of all the Baytown Boys Books is that a good man always finds the good woman they were meant to be with. While there are some spicy sex scenes (much tamer than I am used to), you never come away with the feeling that there should have been more I hope Ms. Jordan keeps writing this series as I never want to be in a book world where there won’t be another Baytown Boy that finds his woman and their HEA.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
As I was reading Out Time I was struck by how much I admired the characters that Maryann Jordan creates. They do the best they can with what they have and what they do. They aren’t perfect but they are essentially good human beings. They fall in love, feel sorrow, contribute to their communities, are loyal friends and are hard working. Colt Hudson & Carrie Beaumont are the epitome of these admiral traits.
Five years of furtive glances. Five years of casual flirting. Five years of thinking that neither one of them was good for the other. Five years of friends nudging them towards each other. Colt finally gets off the dime and does something about his feelings for Carrie. It’s almost too late because danger has come knocking on her door. He gets everything he bargained for and so much more. Now all he has to do is convince her to go all in.
Colt Hudson and Carrie Beaumont have their journey to a future in this return to Baytown . This Tale had the best blend of romance, suspense and community that immerses the reader in the small town atmosphere of the area. Curl up in a comfortable chair and enjoy.
Colt Hudson, Sheriff of North Heron County, has spent the last five years crushing on the pretty waitress at the diner. Colt inherited a huge “family” home from his grandparents, but has no one to share it with. Thinking Carrie can’t possibly be interested in him, he longs for what he thinks he can’t have. After his friends and coworkers tease him relentlessly about his “crush”, Colt decides to take the first step in hopes that Carrie will say yes.
Carrie Beaumont is a single mom to an 11yr old son, Jack. Carrie has dedicated her life to making sure Jack is loved and cared for. Carrie even works extra shifts to make sure she has money to provide for Jack. Carrie has certainly noticed the handsome sheriff, but doesn’t think he’d want to date someone who has a child. When her duplex is compromised in a fire, Colt comes to the rescue. He offers his home to Carrie, her son, and their elderly neighbor. As their friendship turns into more, Jack unintentionally places his life at risk while helping a friend. Can Colt convince Carrie to give their “family” a chance, while protecting them and his town?
Another successful Baytown Boys story! I always enjoy the glimpses into the lives of previous characters. I really related to this story as a single mom to a son. I too, put my life on hold to ensure my child wasn’t neglected and knew he was loved. I worked endless hours and still do! My parents were life savers, helping whenever I needed it. Like Carrie, I put my heart and soul into my child hoping to raise a morally, productive adult. I LOVED that they included their elderly neighbor in their “family”. So sweet! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
I love this series! Having met Colt in previous books I was curious about his story and knew one day we’d get to know him better. This is his and Carries book. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. Ms Jordan has a way with words that draws you in and keeps you hooked from the first page to the last. This story had some real feel good moments and some oh no scary heart in your mouth Moments too. Ultimately though I was still trying not to cry at the emotional scenes it was that good. Now I know I’ve got a book hangover lol. Great book.
I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Our Time (Baytown Boys, book #11) is absolutely perfect! I have been hoping that Colt would have his story told, and here is it! Our Time (Baytown Boys #11) is the story of Sheriff Colt Hudson and Carrie Beaumont and her son, Jack. Colt had been raised by bad parents, so after high school he enlisted in the Military. After leaving the Military he came back home, found the Sheriff’s position open, he decided to run for the Sheriff’s position, where Colt is now the Sheriff of North Heron County. Carrie Beaumont is a beautiful single mom to her amazing 11-year-old son, Jack. Jack’s father did not want anything to do with Carrie or the baby she was carrying. She is a waitress at Joe’s Diner, a very popular restaurant. She is very loving and caring, and her life basically revolves around Jack and the diner. Colt fell for Carrie the first time she smiled at him, and Carrie fell for Colt as soon as he walked into Joe’s Diner for the first time. Fast forward five years, Colt and Carrie have had a secret thing for each other, but each believe they do not deserve each other. Okay, that is all I am saying as I do not want to spoil it for anyone. Our Time is a great story with great character development. You really could not figure out who the bad guys were until the very end. Our Time has drama, angst, and a great love story with some HOT love scenes, and the most amazing 11-year-old named Jack. The characters from the other Baytown Boys stories even make an appearance. Our Time is absolutely amazing. This is a must read. It can be read as a standalone, but characters from the other books in the Baytown Boys series make appearances, so you really should start with Coming Home, Mitch and Tori’s story (Baytown Boys #1). Each book is worth reading. I truly cannot pick which book in the series I like the best that is how fantastic each one is. I cannot wait for the next Baytown Boys book. Still many characters that really need their story told. Thank you Maryann Jordan for another amazing story!
This is book 11 in the Baytown Boys series and can absolutely be read as a stand alone. However, I recommend the other books in the series since you do see many of those characters in this book and we met Colt in previous books as well. Colt is the sheriff of North Heron County after serving his time in the military. He doesn’t feel as if he has time for anything else but his job and everything that is involved with it. Carrie is a single mom who waitresses at The Diner, and who also really likes Colt. Even if she doesn’t think that anything will come of it. But when they are both forced to spend time together, they come to realize just how much they really mean to each other. And how much more they really want out of their lives.
I absolutely loved this one! Carrie is this beautiful soul who went through something that no teen should have to deal with. But she is so strong and caring that she came through it and still managed to be raising this amazing child! Colt has some issues due to his childhood and past, but once he realizes what he truly wants and what would be missing from his life if he let it go? He steps up and the relationship they forge is amazing! You throw in George (pseudo grandfather) and Jack (her amazing kid) and it makes the story even better! I loved every minute of it!!
“This series just warms your heart from the inside out”
It’s another fantastic heartwarming addition to The Baytown Boys Series!
Colt and Carrie have danced around each other for 5 years. Colt is the handsome local sheriff who spends more money at The Diner just to see Carrie that he’s willing to admit.
Carrie is a waitress and a single mother to her wonderful eleven year old son Jack. Her smile lights up a room.
But lately both of them are starting to realize that they could be so much more together. When Carrie, Jack and her neighbor George get caught up in a series of break ins Jack does the only thing he can think of to keep them safe. He moves them into his house. Once Colt decides he’s all in he isn’t letting Carrie, Jack or George go.
“I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”
Carrie is a single mother working hard as a waitress and secretly crushing on the handsome sheriff.
Colt takes his job of sheriff seriously so seriously that even though he’s secretly crushing on Carrie he doesn’t think he has a chance.
A robbery and a fire bring them together in this sweet story!
I love everything Maryann Jordan writes and I think this will be on the top of my favorites!
Reading their story will have you routing for two deserving souls!
As typical with a Ms. Jordan novel, it only takes reading a few pages and I am totally sucked in. I loved how this book built up to the romance of Colt and Carrie. Of course, when things get dicey, Colt is right there protecting her and Jack. Phenomenal series.
It’s Baytown Boys again this time it is Colt who seeks his sole mate. Carrie, a single mum, has been attracted to Colt since she first saw him several years ago.
How their relationship develops is written with great care and interest making a thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating story.
Maryann Jordan delivers again
If you have read any of Maryann Jordan’s books you know that she brings all the right “feels” to everything she writes. Our Time is book 11 in the Baytown Boys Series. It features sheriff Colt Hudson & Carrie Beaumont. I absolutely loved the chemistry and connection between Colt & Carrie. This is a must read.
Another Baytown winner!! Our Time is a standalone story in the Baytown series.
Carrie Beaumont is a single mom working hard to provide for her son Jack. She is very surprised when county sheriff, Colt Hudson shows an interest in her and her son.
“… if I could pick the kind of dad I’d like to have and the kind of man I think you deserve, it would be Colt.”
Colt has had his eye on Carrie for quite a while but never felt like he had much to offer her. But once he does set his mind on wooing the shy and beautiful waitress he goes all out.
“Your time for struggling is over. My time for being alone is over. This, right now, is our time.”
I loved this sweet story with just enough suspense to keep me guessing.
-5 Stars!-
We’ve seen Colt in the previous books, now we get to know him. He’s the North Heron Sheriff a position he’s had since he returned five years ago. It’s a time consuming position and that’s just one of his excuses for not asking Carrie out.
Carrie is a single mother working at Joe’s Place a popular diner in Easton. She moved here with her mother about ten years ago. She knew of Colt before he walked in the door and pretty much knocked the breath out of her with his stunning good looks. It’s a friendship of sorts, but she looks forward to seeing him every morning for breakfast just as much as he looks forward to her smile.
There’s also Jack, Carrie’s son, he’s an intelligent fun loving child who has grown up with plenty of love around him. I love the interactions with him and Colt. It’s pretty obvious from the start that not only is Colt more than a little interested in Carrie, he also cares a great deal for Jack.
As Carrie signs up Jack for summer activities, Colt and the deputies start investigating a rash of burglaries. When one of the victims is Carrie’s neighbor, it seems things start heating up in more ways than one.
Another great story surrounding Baytown and all the characters within. I laughed, cried, held my breath and sighed more than a couple of times.
I really can’t wait for the next book, I am truly addicted to this town and its inhabitants.
