I’m supposed to hate her just because her last name is Erickson and her family owns The Bagel Place. The Andrews and Ericksons of Cliffton Heights are equivalent to the Capuletes and Montagues from Romeo and Juliet. No one is sword fighting in alleys or anything, but the feud between our families tore two best friends apart. Not just our fathers, but Evan and me too. The truth is, my feelings for … is, my feelings for her are the complete opposite of hate, but she’ll never know that because her last name will always be Erickson.

Seth and Evan have been enemies since the series started. Their families being competitors in the bagel business, they were once super close until their fathers started a feud that drove a wedge in the family. Now the two are going to compete for a spot on a reality TV show. When they are given a twist that they would need to work together, Seth and Evan need to figure out how to get their fathers on board and agree with this. A plan is hatched, now they have to play the part of newly engaged and bring the families together. This is way easier said than done, question is can they pull this stunt off? Will the pressure of being together prove too much and the two cross a line that was never meant to be crossed?
I love Piper Rayne, the two of them can write a Math book and it would have you wanting more. With great drama, some awesome banter, a cast of characters that leave you giggling and of course the spicy moments that leave you breathless. I give this 5 stars.
This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is Seth and Evan’s story. These two were brought up together and were best friends, until a disagreement between their father’s split them up. Now years later both families are competing for the food channel in a cooking reality show, and they need to join forces and agree to portray that they are in a fake relationship. This is a well written flawless story which is entertaining, humorous and with crazy shenanigans. I was captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented duo, whose work I highly recommend for all.
I’ve been intrigued by Seth Andrews since he appeared in My Beastie’s Ex, the first book in ‘The rooftop Crew’ series. He originally wasn’t even gonna get a story, as this was meant to be a three-part book deal. But, these characters demanded their own stage and Piper Rayne obliged.
Now we have the story behind the break up of two best-of-friends families.
Evan and Seth are stuck in the middle of the parents’ dispute and are drawn into the everyday running of their bagel shops.
Neither of them wants this.
When an opportunity arises to get out of the hole they find themselves in, they jump at it.
Seth pretends he’s not crushing on Evan, but he’s fooling no one, least of all his friends. Evan is in the same boat. The friendship she shared with Seth when they were kids soon blossoms into a full-fledged attraction.
It was a fun, light-hearted story most of the time. Seth is an all-round good guy. He’s fiercely protective too and loves with all his heart.
Evan, although a more serious character, still had the ability to make me smile and I was rooting for her from the start. Watching these two characters win the day, was fun and made for an easy read.
This book was so good! There are definitely Romeo and Juliet vibes just without the deadly ending. 🙂 Once upon a time, there was a bagel shop owned by the Andrews & Ericksons. After there was a feud, their families were divided. Heroine Evan and hero Seth are now adults and their fathers are still not speaking to each other. When a TV opportunity arises for both of their shops, can they bring their families together? Could an Andrews trust an Erickson?
This is a voluntary review of an advanced reader copy.
Although it is a star crossed story, I feel like Seth and Evan were given a second chance to fall in love. I was giddy that they story happens after (and mentions) the Jingle Ball and what transpired. Friends when they were young, now allies, it is no wonder that their younger friendship has bloomed into love but they have so many obstacles in their way that they need to overcome. This story and the “Crew’s” antics will have you smiling. The love Seth and Evan share will warm your heart Piper and Rayne, you just keep doing what you do and I will happily read it all.
What an entertaining read Our Star-Crossed Kiss is, it was everything I have come to expect from this very talented writing duo and I was captivated by Seth and Evan’s story.
Best friends till a feud between their fathers destroyed their friendship and when they come face to face years down the line they agree to team up to win a competition. Their friendship may have been destroyed but that doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings buried below the surface for each other and when Evan asks Seth to be her fake boyfriend the real fun and games begin…..
Spending time together means feelings were always going to rise to the surface but will those feelings make or break this couple and what happens when things get destroyed once again….
This book ticked all my boxes, it was emotional, it was funny with some hilarious, laugh out loud moments and it had the perfect mix of love , passion, emotional and humour. All in all a great addition to The Rooftop Crew Series.
I am really enjoying The Rooftop Crew series and Our Star-Crosses Kiss is a new favorite. Evan and Seth’s relationship takes on a new challenge. The fake romance suddenly becomes the real deal and I loved each and every step to get there. This couple makes the story fun and star worthy!! This is a fun read that has you smiling for the ride!!
Seth and Evan’s story one I have been waiting for since the beginning. Two rival bagel shop owners who are unfortunate victims of a family feud. Our Star-Crossed Kiss is like a modern Romeo and Juliet without the tragedy.
I love Seth and I have from the beginning. He is such a sweetheart. He is hardworking and an amazingly talented photographer. He is also a mama’s boy and will do anything for her, even if that means entering to be in a food reality show. Evan works hard running the bagel shop her family owns, it is her life, however, it isn’t what she truly wants to do, so when the opportunity comes up to enter the same reality show she takes it.
Seth and Evan have chemistry from the start. They haven’t always been enemies; they were nine when the feud between their families started. They were best friends prior to that, they did everything together and everyone thought they would end up married one day. Now that they are forced to work together there is still the chemistry, however, they both keep it pretty physical in the beginning.
I loved getting more with the other couples of the Rooftop Crew that we’ve grown to love and Blanca was killing me when it came to the little game. Plus, the little bits we got of the upcoming couples has me impatiently waiting to return to Clifton Heights!!
Our Star-Crossed Kiss is a sweet, banter filled, somewhat forbidden romance that will have you laughing and smiling the entire way through! A MUST READ!!!
Our Star-Crossed Kiss is a fun, flirty story that will keep you smiling from beginning to the end. I just loved the banter, the easy friendship not to mention the chemistry that flowed so easily between Seth and Evan. The past has made their families rivals but these two are finding a way to mend all the animosity between their parents and blend their two businesses together and doing it in a way that started off with a small white lie but turns out to be the absolute truth.
This book is a perfect addition to The Rooftop Crew series and has moved up to my favorite!
#sethismyfave
This is a Romeo and Juliet type of romance. Seth and Evan have known each other from childhood until they were nine and their fathers had an argument that split up their bagel business and their families friendships. Seth’s family has the best bagels in town and Evan’s family has the best cream cheese to go on the bagels. Now 20 years later, they have both entered into a reality baking show that pits them against each other in order to win the competition and bring more business to their bagel shops. After they have the reality show changed the format. Now the two bagel shops have to work together. Evan and Seth decide that in order to pursue their own dreams of doing something other than working in the family shops that they will work together and the only way they can figure out to do that is to pretend to have been dating and now are engaged to convince their families that they are serious. As they pretend to be in love, they decide to have “benefits” along with the fake engagement. But they start to have real feelings for each other as the rest of the Rooftop Crew friends have figured out that they have had all along. Will this bring their families together as they hope? I loved all of Piper Rayne’s books and each new one becomes my favorite and this Star-Crossed Kiss book is now my favorite. I can’t wait for the next book. I received an ARC and have my own copy on order. I’m leaving my honest review.
Evan and Seth are made for each other just like bagels and cream cheese!!! Lana~White Hot Reads
This enemies to lovers story is one for the books. The kids were once best friends but the parents had a falling out so of course the kids were told they couldn’t be friends anymore. Fast forward twenty years and the attraction and love for Seth and Evan is still there. When they realize they must work together to accomplish their goal, the friendship and sparks fly. This whole crew is so fun and I can’t wait for the next book.
My favorite so far in this series!!! I absolutely love Seth & Evan. Their story is perfect. All the angst and love with them. SWOONING!!!
I am loving the Rooftop Crew series and I have been eagerly waiting for Evan and Seth’s book. And Piper Rayne did not disappoint, once again delivering a fun, lighthearted and sweet read in an Our Star-Crossed Kiss. I fell so hard for Evan and Seth’s story and did not want it to end. They are both such wonderful characters and you can’t help but fall in love with them.
I absolutely adored Evan and Seth! They had off the charts chemistry, the kind I could feel burning through the pages. I couldn’t get enough of their flirty banter, and I devoured their story. It’s fun and sexy, with plenty of laugh out loud moments weaved in seamlessly with hot ones. Piper Rayne worked their usual magic and gave us the ending we wanted but not without a little angst along the way.
The Rooftop Crew series and this incomparable friend group is always enjoyable to revisit, and Our Star Crossed Kiss delivered with another wonderful read. I love this group of friends so much and so excited for more books in the series.
This was such a fun read. I enjoy the friends-to-lovers and enemies-to-lovers tropes but I rarely come across Star-Crossed Lovers so this was a nice change of pace. If you love Romeo and Juliet you’re going to enjoy this updated twist with Seth and Evan’s story.
Evan and Seth’s parents were best friends and business partners until something happened twenty years ago and put an end to it all including Evan and Seth’s friendship, these best of friends were now made into enemies. The feud is still strong all these years later, mentioning the other’s family name is like saying a curse. Now Evan and Seth find themselves in a position that they need to work together and hopefully convince their families that they can work together again so what better way to do that then to pretend that they are engaged.
I love the way Piper & Rayne always give us a story that we can sink our teeth into. This was a fun, steamy, and a bit of an emotional read that will have you rooting for Evan and Seth right from the very start..
THE ROOFTOP CREW SERIES follows a group of friends so I would suggest reading the series in the order they have been released, that being said you can definitely read this as a standalone if you wish to do so.
Happy Reading!!!
I have been waiting for Seth’s story, and I was not disappointed. Seth Andrews and Evan Erickson were best friend’s until they were nine. Then their fathers had a falling out over their bagel store, the families became enemies. Think Romeo and Juliet, but with bagels and a schmear (and Spoiler, no messy suicides). When an opportunity comes up with the Food Channel , Seth and Evan need to join forces to help out both bagel shops. Of course, this involves a fake engagement in order to get the parents to work together. Seth and Evan are a delightful couple, and I was glad to see them get their happily ever after. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but you really should read the whole series, as their are a lot of fun. I received an arc of this book from the author for my honest review.
Seth is a hidden gem throughout the Rooftop Crew Series….he always has a quirky joke or come back and you don’t really know what he will be like when he falls in love. There is always this question about the hate for Evan and the Erickson family. And Evan holds her own because every time she is in Seth’s presence she has a comeback or snide remark of her own.
And with that hatred comes a magnificent story of two families that loathe each other and yet seemingly want nothing to do with each other, but are brought together in the most elemental way possible…..bagels and cream cheese.
Seth is indeed my favorite because his character is layered with so much more than just his sharp wit. He loves deeply and goes to bat for those he loves and truly is an overall fine young man who wants good for his family.
Evan is rambunctious and so smart in a way that keeps Seth on his toes. She is knee deep in her families’ business and their hatred for the Andrew’s….or is she.
The layers in this story keep you going and going. I could not put the book down because with each page there was this love for Seth and Evan to find their way towards each other. And it was fabulous. I laughed out loud, I went nuts for the moments when they were close to giving in and then would pull back. And then the drama and wit….Piper and Rayne are masters at bringing the funny all the way through.
I didn’t know I would love this book as much as I did and I am so elated that I did. It made my month!!! Piper Rayne delivers yet again and I for one and NOT surprised at my love for their stories! I am without a doubt saying #sethismyfav.
Piper Rayne has once again delivered an UNPUTDOWNABLE 5-Star must read with “Our Star-Crossed Kiss”! I have been on pins and needles waiting for Seth and Evan’s story and let me just say I was not disappointed; in fact, I was sad when it came to an end because this couple had me falling so hard for their beautiful love story. I always love an entertaining, captivating, witty enemies to lovers and this read is all that and so much more. Reading this book you get a glimpse of all your favorite Rooftop Crew characters and that ending… let’s just say I CAN’T WAIT for the next book!!
Another fantastic installment in this series from Piper Rayne! I am so digging the vibe of this set of characters and the world that they live in! It reminds me of Friends and I still love to watch that show!
This is the story of Seth and Evan. Childhood friends, that because of a feud between families and rival businesses, have become enemies.
But you can’t tell your heart to stop wanting what it wants, Evan and Seth continue to want each other despite all the animosity between their families.
There is nothing better than a man with a sense of humor, to have a fella make me laugh is like epic points on the swooniness scale! Seth has this in spades, I caught myself laughing out loud at his witty dialogue. I like how the authors were able to show the reader that sometimes humor is used to cover up some other feelings and Piper Rayne did so perfectly.
Evan is a beautiful character with a strong sense of loyalty to her family above her own happiness. She also is able to “read” Seth in a way that no one else can. She can see through the humor to the vulnerabilities that Seth has underneath.
Get your hands on this funny, swoony read! You won’t regret it!
Our Star-Crossed Kiss is the fourth addition to The Rooftop Crew series, but it could easily be read as a standalone. This series features a set of friends and the trials and tribulations they go through in order to find love.
Evan and Seth’s story is sweet, engaging, entertaining and low in angst. Both the hero and heroine are endearing characters, who were childhood friends until a feud broke out between their families, and rather than business partners they became competitors and animosity was encouraged by their families.
Seth is a photographer. He’s protective, sweet, passionate, driven and determined to distance himself from the family business. Evan on the other hand feels trapped by loyalty and obligation to run the family business.
The chemistry between this pair is palpable and I enjoyed seeing this pair banter and interact with each other.
I will be eagerly awaiting future additions to The Rooftop Crew series.
Seth Andrews and Evan Erickson’s parents were friends and business partners and they were the best of friends…until they were 9. Then something happened. The partnership broke, the friendships crumbled and the kids were never to speak to each other again.
Twenty years later, the feud is still going in the small town of Cliffton Heights. Their families’ businesses in competition with each other, Seth and Evan keep the rival act together until a golden opportunity presents itself, but only if they work as a team. After a few misunderstandings and shenanigans, Seth and Evan will pretend to be engaged and, as it happens with all lies, they keep digging themselves into a deeper hole until their time runs out and they have to face the truth.
I had been looking forward to this book since the series started because I’m a sucker for the underdog and Seth was definitely it in this group. The guy pining for the one girl he never had a chance with for ages and the girl longing for the best friend she lost before she could develop actual feelings for him – it’s just your regular 21st century Romeo and Juliet. The story doesn’t disappoint at all and I loved it from beginning to end.
I felt there’s a lot to love in this book and I have to admit #sethismyfav from the Rooftop Crew.
