After a devastating accident crushed my dreams, I ended up back in my hometown teaching kindergarten. I was trying to make the best of it. That is, until the world I had to leave behind, showed up in my classroom in the form of a five-year-old little girl. Her father living the exact life I almost had.Adam Jacobson is known as the bad boy of rock. While he and his band tour the world, they leave … they leave a trail of mayhem. What no one knows is behind the music is a caring, straightedge man with a secret — a daughter who the world is about to discover.
When they move to my small town, their secret is blown. He needs my help to keep her out of the media, and with each exchange we grow closer. Only problem is I need to stay away from the memories he ignites, and the temptations he brings my way.
Secrets I’ve kept and thoughts of that fatal night come crashing back into my life. I have to wonder if it was more than fate that brought his little girl into my classroom.

Rockstar story that will tug at your heart
As I was trying to come up with a musical headline (I couldn’t) I wanted to use the words harmony, crescendo, in synch.
… but I couldn’t pull it off without coming across as being too cutesy. Luckily, the author, Ms Runow, is a much better writer than I; she gives us a well thought out storyline with subplots that mesh well and main and supporting characters that are realistic and endearing.
This story also has family dynamics, untapped dreams, misplaced stereotypes, faith, and childhood trauma / abandonment. It’s much more than an inch deep romance. This book really tugged at me.
It’s my first book by the author, but she’s someone I’m now following! If you’re looking for a good book; this is ! Download this now.
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
This Rockstar / Single Dad Romance is set in a small town. This story is romantic and beautiful. Adam, a single dad and rockstar, is a handsome character. Caitlin, his daughter, is an adorable, and amazing kid. I love their exceptional relationship. Sarah is a wonderful and strong character. Her past is heartbreaking. The secondary characters are great, and they have an important part in this story. The storyline is beautifully written. I love the shows’s description, they seem so real! The ending is perfect. I loved it!
Such a sweet love story between a preacher’s daughter and a “bad boy” rockstar. This book gave me all the feels. Sarah and Adam have an instant connection. Adam is serious boyfriend goals. He is the sweetest and not at all what he is portrayed as in the media. Add in that he’s a totally devoted single dad…swoon! . Sarah is such a caring, pure soul that had to give up her dreams after a horrible accident. Adam helps fill that void and bring her back k to life. They are the perfect couple and you can feel the love they have for each other.
I loved this book! It was such a good, refreshing read and I enjoyed every minute of it!
I loved Our Song! Sarah left New York to go back home under heart breaking circumstances. Choosing to believe that God had a plan for her and leaving her life to her faith and fate, her paths cross with Adam. Caiilin was definitely a scene stealer and you can’t help be smile at some of the things that she says. For me, the book had several different themes that were all beautifully woven together.
4.5 Stars
I love a good single dad story. I love a good rocker story. I love a small town story. Our Song totally fit the bill for me! I love Adam and Sarah together! Their chemistry was great, and the plot was well-developed. I especially loved Cailin (again, I’m a sucker for kids in a book).
This is the first book that I’ve read by Lauren Runow, and she has written a book that I couldn’t put down.
A wonderfully sweet romance that is like a nice fine wine…reading it slowly to savor it. New to this author and really enjoyed the writing style. The characters and more importantly, the addition of a precocious 5 yr old!
Our Song is an absolutely fantastic love story! Sarah and Adam’s story is fun, steamy, romantic, and has just the right amount of drama. It kept me hooked from the first page to the last. I just fell in love with Adam…..he is close to perfect! Adam’s daughter, Cailin, added so much to the story and brought a smile to my face over and over. Sarah is such a good and kindhearted person that I was thrilled when she realized her dream and got her hot rocker. A totally enjoyable read that I loved, loved, loved!
I enjoyed this book about Adam a sweet rockstar, who doesn’t show the typical rockstar behaviour. Sarah a kindergarten teacher who isn’t your typical kingergarden teacher. Both have secrets they aren’t prepared to share until Sarah finds herself the teacher of a beautiful little soul named Caitlin. This is a sweet read about two list souls broken and being healed by each other.
I enjoyed this single dad rockstar, who’s not what you expect, a church going teacher who’s gave up her dreams, and a adorable little girl who will steal your hearts. Our Song is a great story, full of emotion, a tad bit of drama, some sweetness, and fun.
4.5 Beautiful Sung Stars!
I absolutely LOVED this book, the characters were so well written, the story just flowed so well, add a adorable 5 year old with a Single Dad and I was completely hooked. I enjoyed the fact the Sarah finally had her time to shine, with the support she deserved. I don’t think I’ve ever met a better Single Dad than Adam, his relationship Cailin was the sweetest, it made reading this one FUN. I cannot say enough GOOD stuff about this book….PICK IT UP!!!
Sarah was living in New York and following her dreams of singing when tragedy struck leaving her injured and unable to continue with her music. Her religious family believed she was attending college but that wasn’t the case. Seven years later, she is back in her small town as a kindergarten teacher. Adam is the lead singer for the rock band Devil’s Breed. He has a five year old daughter named Cailin that is in Sarah’s class. The couple meet and sparks fly between them. Will Sarah be able to deal with her past to have another shot at a future in music? This was a sweet read and I loved the way Sarah finally stood up for herself. Adam was the ultimate sweet bad boy with a cutie for a daughter in Cailin.
I received a copy of this book from Wordsmith Publicity and am leaving a review.
From the moment we met Sarah, you could tell she was something special. It seemed she was headed for greatness. Anyone would have drawn away from the spotlight after what happened, especially after what her father said. The difference between the Sarah in the epilogue and the Sarah starting Chapter 1 is striking. You could tell she was content but not happy. The minute Adam came into her life, her attitude changed & she was more on edge.
Adam is secure in who he is & what he does. He loves his daughter Cailin & would do anything for her. He loves his music but not the typical lifestyle. He’s determined not to be like his mother & that keeps him from the drugs & alcohol. Sarah just seems to add light to his life. When he discovers her talent, he can’t help encouraging her to make the most of it. With town members & Sarah’s father believing the worst of the gossip, is there any way they have a chance?
I love it when I take a chance on a book & new to me author & it pays off! The connection with these characters was immediate. The storyline was original & the author stayed true to it. The gospel teachings of faith, following God’s path, not judging & seeking the inside beauty were perfectly placed in the story & are uplifting, not preachy. This was a perfect example of believing & staying true to yourself. Sarah wasn’t happy because she was trying to deny the talent God gave her. Once she embraced it again, nothing could keep her down. I loved the role Cailin played in the story & she added so much joy & happiness to the plot. This was a wonderful story & I’ll be watching for more from this author.
Sarah: You have a dream. It’s working out. Tragedy brings you back to what’s safe. You become a teacher.
Adam: You’re living the dream. After a childhood of tragedy, you get your shot and take it to the top. You’re a rock star with a young daughter. You need to find a safe place.
You meet each other. Together you’re more than what you are separately. Past secrets you share, magnify the attraction you both feel.
I really enjoyed this book! The incredible, almost instantaneous attraction between Adam and Sarah was breathtaking. Adam’s daughter Cailin is just too cute, and the obvious love between father and daughter is magical. Adam’s band members all have a brotherly connection with Adam and love Cailin like their own. Sarah fits in so well with this group and is once again able dream.
Uplifting to see dreams once thought lost forever, make their way into Sarah and Adam’s relationship.
I freaking loved this rockstar romance! I was consumed from page one!
“I think we put these people up on pedestals, but really, we need to realize they are human beings, just like us.”
Adam is the lead singer for Devils Breed and the ultimate bad boy…at least that’s how he is portrayed. In real life he is a father who wants what is best for his 5-year-old daughter, Cailin. He may be a rock god with tattoos, but he is also sweet, kind, but can talk dirty in your ear. YES PLEASE!!! Adam is like the ultimate book boyfriend! I fell head over heels for him.
“Fate has brought me the kind of man I’ve dreamed of. A man who loves life, music, and wants to be a father.”
After tragedy strikes, Sarah is back in her home town teaching Kindergarten. I feel so bad for Sarah. She was living her dream and then she wasn’t. Seeing Adam living his isn’t easy for her. Being the object of his attention? That isn’t easy either. I really don’t think she stood a chance, though. Adam is pretty freaking amazing. Adam and Sarah together is PERFECTION!
The moral of this story: Always follow your dreams!
While rockstar romance is not my go to read this one is definitely worth it! I so enjoyed this book, it is not your typical rockstar romance and it has the perfect amount of sweet and character development to make it a must read!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved this “so called” bad boy rock star meets the church going good girl story! Adam is the perfect swoon worthy rocker that is so much more than his appearance on stage and Sarah is the preachers daughter and now teacher that gave up on her own rockstar dreams to please her father. These 2 together fit perfectly and Adam determined to make her dreams come true. This was an awesome rockstar story that kept my attention from beginning to end.
What an emotional and amazing book! I loved this book and could not put it down. Sarah thought her dream was over. She accepted her life as a teacher and living in a small town until she meets Adam. Adam just wanted as normal alive for his daughter as possible out of the public eye. Cailin is the sweetest little girl. She brought Adam and Sarah together. I cried, I laughed, I loved this book!

This was my first Lauren Runow book and will not be the last. I enjoyed this sweet journey of Adam and Sarah. Adam was the best single dad to his little cutie Cailin. I loved seeing Adam and Sarah’s friendship develop slowly.
This is a rockstar/single dad romance!!! It was a wonderful page turner. Adam is the lead singer of a band called devils breed. He has a daughter who he tries to protect from the spotlight.
When Adam goes home he meets his daughter teacher Sarah. It’s definitely a slow burn story but not so slow that I lost interest. Ms Runow has a way of keeping readers engaged in the story.
I had to keep reading to see how the book ended! It was a wonderful read!!!
