After a devastating accident crushed my dreams, I ended up back in my hometown teaching kindergarten. I was trying to make the best of it. That is, until the world I had to leave behind, showed up in my classroom in the form of a five-year-old little girl. Her father living the exact life I almost had.Adam Jacobson is known as the bad boy of rock. While he and his band tour the world, they leave … they leave a trail of mayhem. What no one knows is behind the music is a caring, straightedge man with a secret — a daughter who the world is about to discover.
When they move to my small town, their secret is blown. He needs my help to keep her out of the media, and with each exchange we grow closer. Only problem is I need to stay away from the memories he ignites, and the temptations he brings my way.
Secrets I’ve kept and thoughts of that fatal night come crashing back into my life. I have to wonder if it was more than fate that brought his little girl into my classroom.

What a sublimely wonderful read! I absolutely love authors that can take a beloved romance trope and make it truly, uniquely, their own. Ms. Runow has done just that, and so much more, with this story, starting out with a rock star hero who “falls for teacher”–this time, his daughter’s kindergarten instructor. But Sarah is the preacher’s daughter fighting some bad baggage from her past, as well as the judgmental scrutiny of her family. The strong attention to detail with both character’s back stories, along with some amazing secondary characters, sealed the deal on making this book a five-star read for me. Larger emotional issues came into play during the book’s last act, ensuring I truly couldn’t put it down until I sighed in bliss over the last words. Emotional, beautiful, intense and swoon-worthy…”Our Song” is a symphony of romantic mastery from the VERY talented Ms. Runow.
Sarah and her band are rising stars, and everything changes in the blink of an eye. We get a hint to the tragedy in the beginning of the story but find out the whole story as the book evolves. In the meantime, we are introduced to Adam Jacobson, the biggest rock star in the nation. He has a secret and now that the cat is out of the bag, he needs Sarah to help him. Together they form an instant bond and a relationship that blossoms beautifully.
I enjoy how Adam is portrayed throughout Our Song. He’s supportive, loving and an outstanding father. He goes after Sarah and fights for them. I loved Sarah just as much. She is understanding and is so good with her kids at school. She fits in beautifully and her bestie was so much fun!
I am in love!! If there was ever a book that would make you want to do a duet with a rockstar, Our Song is just it! The feels of this book will pull on your heartstrings and feel what these characters are feeling right along with them. I’m still bawling! A truly emotional story that will inspire you to chase and not give up on your own dreams.
All I can say is I want my very own Adam!! I’m so thankful I was recommended this book that is worth all the stars. I loved the chemistry between Sarah and Adam, but loved the bond between them and Cailin even more. A must read that will stay with me for a long time!
If you are looking for a sweet, steamy and sassy romance, look no further than Our Song by Lauren Runow.
This story of Sarah and Adam is full of heart.
Sarah was trying to fulfill her dreams of making music. She knew her straight laced family would not approve. A horrible turn of events finds her back in her home town, hiding and covering up who she really is.
Enter Adam, a true testament of the saying don’t judge a book by its cover. He is a dedicated father and a true rock-n-roll legend. When his daughter falls in love with her new kindergarten teacher, well he is soon to follow!
I admired the song references in this story, I also admired the dichotomy between God and rock and roll that Ms. Runow described and how she was able to show that you could have both. Sarah and Adam could have it all and be happy!
The flow of this story is fast, but it’s perfect in its hope! I also loved reading the transformation of Sarah, her strength and her determination to protect those she held close to heart was laudable!
I have yet to read a story from Ms. Runow that I haven’t fallen in love with! Our Song is no exception!
I would happily give Our Song more stars if Goodreads would allow it. I finally get it when people say “It had all the feels”. Our Song brought out all of the emotions. My journey was long, draining and wonderful.
Sadness poured from the pages as Sarah lost everything she had become in New York City. In the bright lights of the city her light dimmed. Her hopes were extinguished. Her life darkened. The Sarah she was would be no more.
Five years passed. Back home in small town California, Sarah goes through the motions. She teaches Kindergarten. She dresses conservatively. Sarah placates her Pastor father, changing who she was in a town where her father is everything. A new year. A new group of students. A new beginning.
Adam Jacobson will do anything for his little girl. Giving her a normal life has become his goal. That life begins in small town California, ruled by an ultra conservative Pastor with his daughter entering Sarah Russo’s kindergarten class.
Adam and Sarah’s lives collide and sparks fly. Our Song can be put in so many categories it should satisfy every reader. Small Town. Rock Star. Single Dad. Forbidden romance. New beginnings. Opposites attract. Our Song is their journey toward a HEA, toward a wonderful future.
Best of all there was so much that wasn’t expected. I wanted to cheer loudly as Sarah gained inner strength. I wanted to laugh and dance with Adam’s sweet daughter, Cailin. I bawled sad tears. My eyes glistened with happy tears. I smiled brightly as all the characters grew emotionally. I gained strength along side them. I found myself crying like a girl having chocolate for the first time in years. It was pure bliss. I felt a great satisfaction.
The author gave me everything I didn’t know I needed. I closed the book knowing the story and the characters would remain in my heart and in my thoughts. Lauren Runow out did herself when she wrote Our Song. I can’t thank her enough for the amazing wonderful fantastic story.
A light and happy read with feel good vibes, Our Song by Lauren Runow will leave you with a smile on your face, and warmth in your heart.
Not your quintessential rock star, Adam Jacboson is extra swoony as a kind, considerate, and hot single dad! I loved his character equally as a father and a rockstar. I found Sarah to be completely endearing as the heroine, and was cheering for her throughout the read. I love a good read with tight family ties, and Our Song brings this element in an nontraditional way.
If you like your reads sweet and extra swoon-worthy, with a side of edginess, one click Our Song today!
Oh this is the most amazing, emotional book. I totally fell for Adam when I learned all he did for Cailin. He was the rock star persona on stage and the doting father when he wasn’t. Sarah is Cailin’s kindergarten teacher and never dreamed she would be pushed back into the world she left behind. I picked this spin off book up after reading Perfect Song in the Mason Creek series and I am so glad I did. Loved watching Sarah get her confidence back. This is sweet, steamy and so much fun. Cailin is an adorable little girl and loved her sassy little self. So glad I found this author and looking forward to reading more of her work.
Oh WOW! What a great book this is. I couldn’t put it down. If you want a read that is totally opposite of most rock star books, this is it. Sweet, sexy, touching and swoon-worthy moments – it has it all. This is a new author for me. I’ll be looking for more of her books.
This was a blind date book and I’m so happy to discover a new-to-me author that I know I will enjoy when I find more of her books.
This book had all the feels. I knew something had happened to send her back home with a different life, different look and I kept thinking… tell me the details. The author reveals all later when the time was right.
He’s a rock star, the image that doesn’t fit in a conservative town. She’s the pastor’s daughter with a hidden tattoo. She’s also the rock star’s daughter’s kindergarten teacher.
I love there was a slow burn as they got to know each other. Could he bring her ‘back to life’, to follow her dreams and be the person she is meant to be?
I loved this line: “Sometimes, that’s all you need in life—to have someone who will hold your hand through anything.”
Such an entertaining story, I loved it. Oh yes, and signing up to the newsletter there is an epilogue, I loved to read what was happening next in their lives.

This book, it made me do that, teary smile, the one you try ever so hard to hide from passing bystanders, but you’re too happy with the Story that you just can’t help them flow. It brought in so much pain and yet so much happiness, it was overwhelming.
I read this book then heard it on #audible, and it sent me in a new wave of them dam feelings.
This is a new to me author who I will definitely be reading again! This book had so much depth, love, and angst to it and I couldn’t put it down.
I adore how this books speaks about standing up for who you are, what you want, and your dreams. How, even though it can be tough, to keep going. How to overcome loss, find the beauty in the now, and how opening your heart up can lead you to where you belong.
I also adore how this book touches on the differences in us all and how we, as humans, don’t have the right or knowledge, to judge others based upon appearances and rumors.
So well written, full of so much love and heart, this is a book that you will adore and devour.
These feels in this book were everything!
This story was amazing.
Sarah is a wonderful heroine. With what she went through she is still selfless and caring but to see her after meeting Adam makes her even better!
Adam is your not your typical bad boy rockstar. He’s better! Very talented and caring but protects those he loves no matter how people view him.
These two together being all the feeling out! Lauren wrote this so well that you feel their feeling with the words, the music.
Well done!
Our Song is a sweet, emotional love story. *Single dad
*precocious child
*rock star
*small town
This story checks all the boxes for me!!
Adam Jacobson is a bad boy Rock Star with a young daughter that no one knows about.
Sarah Russo is the preacher’s daughter teaching kindergarten in a small town. She tries to avoid Adam because he brings back memories of the life she left behind.
“I just held her hand; she did the rest,” he responds.
…“Sometimes, that’s all you need in life—to have someone who will hold your hand through anything.”
I listened to most of this book on audio and loved the narration. I’m definitely a fan of these narrators.
-4 Stars!-
******** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW ********
I don’t believe I’ve listened to Erik Bloomquist or Madeleine Dauer previously. However, I think they did a pretty good job with the narration. I do wish Adam’s voice was a bit grittier or a bit rougher sounding since he was a rockstar. He was a bit too normal sounding, if that makes sense. Madeleine Dauer portrayed Sara pretty perfectly. I could imagine her as a kindergarten teacher and reading Giraffes Can’t Dance to a room full of students.
I really love the positivity in the story though. Adam’s life hasn’t been easy and I love how he used music to get through the hard times he had in life… even if we aren’t privy to alot of his issues. It’s really good to show positive ways of dealing with life and struggling through tough times. The only real negative thing I can think of is Sara. I really wish she was a stronger heroine. She let’s so many people talk negatively and treat her badly. I wish she would have stood up for herself more especially with her father. I really like heroines to be a bit stronger or at least to really show her strength a bit more and to be proud. She has it in her and she did finally bare her teeth but I felt like she wanted to run more than face her problems.
The icing on the cake was Cailin!! She was just sweet a pie and just full of it. She was way more mature than most 5 year olds but that seemed pretty understandable with it just being her and her dad (and nanny’s) as well as being on the road all of her life. She’d actually be more comfortable with adults than children more than likely. Anywho, Adam and Cailin were way more than adorable! I loved listening to their antics. And the ending, this book had one of my favorite endings with how everything went down.
Absolutely loved it!!!
Our Song is not just another rockstar book. It’s a beautiful, heart-wrenching, story of second chances and now one of my TOP READS of 2019!
Lauren Runow didn’t just write another rockstar book. Nope! Our Song is a concert of words! Every beat, every line is filled with love, family and a breathtakingly beautiful happily ever after. Oh! And let’s not forget the single dad rockstar. Adam Jacobson is EVERYTHING!
I feel like there just aren’t enough words for how much I adored this story. This book was beautifully written. I felt like every character was perfectly imperfect, with painful pasts. I loved how the relationship of Sarah and Adam was a slow burn which allowed them to grow and heal. This was my first book by Lauren Runow but definitely won’t be my last.
If there is one author that can make me jump with excitement when I have the news of a new book coming my way it’s this lady.
She has given me some of my favorite books as well as one book that shattered my heart into pieces and it took me some time to heal.
Lauren Runow is that lady. She’s freaking amazing, a total sweetheart. She’s always there when I text her…
I text her a lot when I’m reading… Lol
And now… A new book as arrived and I’m so freaking excited… Just Have a good look at this cover? Isn’t it stunning? Sexy and sweet at the same time?
Her writing is sweet and beautiful, intense and emotional, breathtaking and wild… Just get ready…
Our Song is her latest release and tells the stories of Sarah and Adam.
Sarah thought she had it all. That her dreams came true and that she would live the life she wanted until one day it all came crashing down. Now, a few years later, she’s back in her hometown being a kindergarten teacher and trying to put her past behind until one day…
Adam has it all. Fame, fortune, good looks, and girls… All that his heart desires. But not everything is as it seems. When he sees himself trying to avoid a secret to be found…
Superb, magnificent, amazing book. This plot just sucked me in, in a way that I couldn’t stop reading. It was one perfect chapter after the other and I didn’t wanted it to end. I wanted to keep reading.
This book presented us with love, loyalty, dreams, friendship as well as some tragedy, darkness, and drama. And once you were caught up in the twist you got stuck.
It was amazing to read. It was perfect to see the way these characters interacted with each other. It was surreal actually.
And I was left wanting more.
Another spectacular story just like I knew it would be.
This lady is amazing and this book just came to prove it.
Lauren, you know what you’re doing. You know how to capture our attention as well as our hearts. Your books are some of my favorites and I can’t wait for the next one.
Please tell me that we will have more about the rest of the guys? Please say yes…I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
5 Cranky Stars
This is my first book by Lauren Runow and I’m hooked. I am a sucker for a rock star romance throw in a cute kid you might as well take my money now. I know it can be overdone and ran into the ground, but I feel Our Song carries its own weight and makes it very special.
Adam Jacobson is the lead singer of Devil’s Breed which is known for their rocking lyrics and onstage antics they are popular among the rock sect. Adam who isn’t who he’s pretends to be on stage in real life he is the doting father to a very precious kindergartner named Cailin who just wants to protect her at all costs. When it comes time for her to enroll in school, he settles in an idyllic small town in hopes of keeping her out the public eye, yet he isn’t welcomed with open arms like he hopes. When he meets her teacher, he is smitten. Adam slowly gets to know Sarah outside of school and realizes she is his perfect match. She is someone he wants in his life for the long term and his heart falls more in love with her because she treats Cailin like her own.
Sarah Russo had music stardom dreams and was well on her way to them when tragedy happened. She heads back home to heal and make a new life for herself. Dedicated to the Lord like her father wants and a teacher like her mother was once before. Sarah is just existing she is unhappy. The only time she smiles is when she is singing yet singing hymns isn’t what she wants Sarah wants to sing rock. She wants to move the masses with her lyrics and make the stadiums stand up and sing her songs. When school starts again, she is introduced to a new student and when she learns who her father is, she is floored. Sarah has followed Devil’s Breed and can’t believe who is in her town. Slowly she falls in love with him and sets out to defend him against her religious father and bigoted town.
Oh my stars! This book was just so awesome. I know Cranky come up with a better word but I’m at a loss. I loved that Adam wasn’t your quintessential rocker that underneath he was a loving dad and a heck of a cook with a pretty normal house. His upbringing made me sad for him but look he turned it all around so kudos to him. Poor Sarah and her loss geez that broke my heart. Her father I swear I hated him and thought surely he can’t redeem himself. I was angry. I have never understood hiding behind religion to justify hate. Ughhhh!! Ok I’m done and oh oh Cailin she is an amazing little girl like I really want to know a kid like that. Our Song is a slow burn where Lauren Runow romances us with her words much like Adam romances Sarah….slow and steady. When they finally come together phew it’s hot hot hot. I just really liked this book ok!
Lauren Runow’s passion for music is so evident in this book. Each page takes you on a journey of rock star dreams, heartache, romance and hope. While she gives us the fairy tale romance, she also opens the door to the not so nice parts of the world. We get small glimpses of what life can be like in the rock and roll world. We get glimpses of how judgmental people can be with those who aren’t like them. Lauren wraps everything up in this story; the good, the bad and the ugly. I would happily hum and sing my way through this story again.
