Though fictional, it is a good representation of how Hitler was able to take over Germany, and, by extension, how any dictator can take over a country in economic straits.
This book shows how a person gets involved in things not necessarily for the best!
I always finish books, but this is one, I could not get in to.. Was boring from the first.. Sorry.
A difficult time to write about realistically. Interesting presentation of two brothers pulled into opposite sides of the politics of pre-WWII Germany.
Hard to follow. Put it down half way through.
Excellently written sub story of a very important time in history. Relationships between brothers, and families in pivotal social and political times. Well done.
This book was part of a series that went on far too long.
Interesting story, but I didn’t realize it was only part one.
Liked it so well. I immediately bought the next 2 books in the series & have the rest on my wish list.
This is a great series about two brothers, both from the same parents, raised in the same household…but as they grew up it became clear that they were diametrically opposed in every way. It’s exciting to see how their paths criss-cross in life & death struggles. It’s such a realistic story of life during the Third Reich…with all the horrible atrocities wrought by the hands of the misguided NAZIS.
Great reading
Good insight into pre WWII Germany. Many similarities to today’s divided USA and realistically shows potential danger of fringe right and left political dogmas.
Another book about how war can divide a family.
I am interested in historical information about the Nazis period of Germany. Following two brothers with different ideas provided an aspect of this.
Not my style
Overall a good book, does a great job portraying both sides of the political divide back then. Can’t wait to read the others
Realistic.
Great series……fast paced
This book was hampered by sloppy editing.
Interesting story about brothers and how different they can be in the time of war.
