The ocean is uncontrollable and dangerous. But to the sirens who swim the warm island waters, it’s a home more than worth protecting from the humans and their steam-propelled ships. Between their hypnotic voices and the strength of their powerful tails, sirens have little to fear. That is, until the ruthless pirate captain, Kian, creates a device to cancel out their songs. Perle was the first …
Perle was the first siren captured—but the only one Kian still keeps prisoner. Song muted and tail paralyzed, Perle’s hope for escape finally rekindles as another pirating vessel seizes Kian’s ship. This new captain seems different, with his brilliant smile and his promises that Kian will never again be Perle’s master. But he’s still a human, and a captor in his own way. The compassion he and his rag-tag human family show can’t be sincere… or can it?
Soon it becomes clear that Kian will hunt Perle relentlessly, taking down any siren in her path. As the tides turn, Perle must decide whether to run from Kian forever, or ride the forming wave into battle, hoping these newfound human companions will fight with them.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of this world.
I found the characters unusual and intriguingly.
This is the first book I have read by D.N. Bryn and I really enjoyed the story. It has action and drama with a little suspense mixed it. It is a story about two worlds coming together and trying to make against all odds. The characters are beautifully developed with amazing personalities. I loved Dejean and Pearl together. They have a great interaction between them. The story is as beautiful as it is sad in other parts. The support characters are just as great and Mur add so much to the story. This is a definite read with fun and adventure throughout it.
Completely unique world. Loved the imagery and descriptions.
I enjoyed this book. Written from the perspective of a siren! Great twist.
I absolutely adored this book: the characters, the setting, the language. The world was super interesting, it was easy to read for someone like me, not native English speaker, and ahhhhh the characters. This book moved me, it had great diversity and I can’t wait for the next one. I recommend this for every fantasy lover: trust me, this book is so worth it and it’s like something you have never read, in the best kind of way. I mean, diversity, pirates and steampunk! What are you waiting for? Buy this book! You won’t regret it.
It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been this excited for a book.
The world of sirens and steam-powered ships is completely immersive, and I stayed up late on multiple occasions, promising myself that I’d just read “one more page.” (It was never just one page.) The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat, and I mean that literally — I don’t want to give too much away, but there were several sections of this book where I physically tensed all of my muscles, waiting to see how the plot would resolve itself.
But the heart of this book, in my opinion, are its characters. I am not the type to root for blood-thirsty sirens and murderous pirates, but dammit, Bryn somehow managed to get me on board (pun not intended) within the first chapter. Pearl manages to be sympathetic and a fun narrator to root for without betraying or downplaying their tendency to, er, eat people, and Dejean is adorkable and lovable despite being a pirate captain, complete with the ruthlessness that entails. And the side-characters are just as good — I could ramble on about all of them like they’re old friends, but my favorite has to be Murielle, Dejean’s spunky mechanic of a sister. Again, I don’t want to give away too much, but I sincerely hope other people love that giant nerd as much as I do. Because I love her a lot.
I could go on for pages, honestly, but here’s what it comes down to: I love this book, I’m recommending it to all of my friends, and now I’m recommending it to you. BUY OUR BLOODY PEARL. You won’t regret it!!
Our Bloody Pearl is written from the Siren/Mermaids point of view and it is amazing. It is one of the most creative things I’ve read in a while.
Charming
A cute little story about sirens with enough thrills to make the ending satisfying.
Enjoyable read. Kept me interested and wondering what’s was going to happen next. Very original characters and stories. Would definitely recommend to read.
Different type of book. Ok, but I probably would not buy the other books in the series
Interesting book,
Just wasn’t my style of book.
Creative story. Great characters & good action!
