Love the story of Rob,Cassie and Jeff (ever so briefly). Verlene is a new to me author and she has reeled me in! I can not wait to read more of her work! Especially more of Rob and Cassie’s story! Great Job! Highly recommend this author and book!
Rob, Jeff and Cassie have been friends since high school. When Jeff and Cassie became a couple, Rob realized he had deeper feelings for Cassie that went unexplored. Years later when Jeff dies, everything in these two people’s love have stalled. Now Rob is ready to admit his feelings to Cassie. This book was in the Branches of Healing Anthology. This book is full of emotions and is a best friend’s widow trope and I loved it. Verlene is one of my favorite authors and I’m excited to read more.
I loved the entire anthology, I hope there is an expanded story for Rob and Cassie. I love Verlenes twist on a common trope.
She is lost now She has lost her best friend, her husband. She has no idea where she is going to go. Can anything help? Will anybody help her? See where her journey will take her

This was a great teaser and intro to Rob and Cassie where we see where they began and what they went through before ending up well where they will. For a short book it has loads packed into it and as any good book should it leaves you wanting to know what happens to Rob and Cassie next especially with the ending and are they are aren’t they!!

Beautiful twist on a familiar trope
This splendid novella takes a familiar setup – a widow falls for her late husband’s best friend – but puts a unique spin on the story. This time, the fallen husband – Jeff – is truly missed by both Cassie and Rob, yet the shared history of all three leads to an amazing revelation and a HEA that is as heartbreaking as it is satisfying. These were such beautiful characters, with so much love all around.
This was a short read introducing Cassie, Rob and Jeff childhood friends and as one set a couple while the other realizes he wanted to be one part of the couple. This was just a taste of what is to come. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline had a nice kick to it.

A preview of more to come!! Can’t wait!
I’m new to Verlene Landon’s stories. This is only the 2nd one under my belt but definitely won’t be my last. Especially when Cassie & Rob’s expanded story comes out. Great short story. Enjoyed the dynamics of it. I’m conflicted about the way I’m excited for the expanded story because I liked Jeff. Even though his interactions were brief in the scope of things he had a huge impact on the journey and was sad when he was gone yet excited for more to come
A fastpaced and wellwritten story that I enjoyed reading. Can not wait to read more about Rob and Cassie.

Not all marriages are what they seem on the outside. What may seem like the perfect relationship, could be more of the perfect friendship. This may seem like a best-friend’s-widow trope, but there’s more to it than that. There’s unexplored and unexpected feelings between friends. The story ends on a good note, but honestly, I want more of Cassie and Rob; I’m excited that it will be extended.
