Good book with historical input into a time not often brought to our attention.
Another great novel in this series
Began as a tragic drama then turned to a lovely romance.
Compelling story. You cant stop reading. A heart breaker and uplifting at the same time. I cheered for the kids and those that helped them. We need strong people that care enough to act against injustice, especially against innocent children.
Good book! Interesting and well thought out. I would recommend it to others.
If yo interested in this topic, it’s excellent.
Loved this book!
Very informative about the utter atrociousness that was used on the Jewish people.
I do not think I will finish the book, I am having trouble understanding the characters. Not easy to read.
I love following the lives of the characters and seeing the loving way they treat people. Recognition of tough times collides with can do spirit. Inspirational.
It was a excellent book. It actually told how the orphan train was a good and bad thing. Some poor children found a good home and others found a living Hell. There were people who tried helping the children but were lie to and mislead. Others just didn’t care. Just as in today’s society
Rachel does a good job of creating characters you can follow and bringing their world to you.
I really liked it. It is the second book about the orphan trains I have read – both were very good. I think part of the reason I liked it so much is that it gave me some insight as to what my relatives who actually rode on the orphan trains experienced. I’m thankful many children found wonderful homes but my heart breaks for the ones who were not so fortunate…this book addresses both.
Tear jerker but great story of love and care for unfortunate mistreated children.
This is a fabulous story!! It is busy in New York with the sanctuary for street orphans; new babies are being born; children are being adopted from the Orphan Trains across America; and, heartache abounds when things go wrong in homes and towns where orphans have been left behind. This book had my full attention when sweet little girls were abused, as well as, when rescuers arrived. I loved the tender hearts of so many parents willing and wanting another child in their lives. There are so many new heroes in the old west like Brian and Dr. Richard Green; I felt new hope that all would work out when men like that became part of our history. The story-line is great and I love the way the author handled sensitive subjects relating to the children. Thanks for a wonderful read….
good ending
Was too obvious.
I enjoyed this book from a different time period. It was the first book I had ever read about the orphan trains.
Great
I enjoyed reading this novel so much that I promptly checked to see if I had already down loaded the second installment. The characters are easy to like and before long you find that you don’t wat to put it down. I don’t know if the background is true for the trains. Given the time frame of the story, I believe there is a high probability that the treatment described could very well have been true.
