I was totally unaware of the orphan trains. So this was very educational for me.
Loved it! Kept me interested from start to finish!
I’ve always been interested in the tales of the Orphan Trains and fiund the first two books of this series touched on some of the problems that I had never seen referred to before. Interesting.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. The characters are strong and the circumstances are heart wrenching. The historical info is excellent. And the author truly captures that era of our history. Waiting for the next book to follow.
Got the 1st one free and I’ve already purchased the next 2 in the series, if that tells you anything! I’m usually pretty cheap (hence why I’m on this site) and really takes something special to get me to commit to the series especially if there are 6 in the series. I will probably look into the box sets of her other series.
Could be a stand alone book but is best read after the 1st. Great characters, unique storyline based on my reading history. You really connect with the characters, sharing their struggles and cheering for good outcomes. Somewhat predictable in the overall scheme, but enough hook to keep you reading. Recommend.
Did not finish
kept me on my toes with anticipation
This is 2nd in a series of books abou the orphan trains that left New York. The books need to be read in order as characters appear without much background story. Some events feel a bit contrived or forced to show all the things that happened to the orphans. This particular book tells much about the abuse some orphans suffered. It’s sad and hard to read but it is what happened.
I enjoyed reading this book.
I was taken in after the 3rd page. My heart went out to what the orphan’s had to go through. It was a great book and very enlightening.
Loved this book. I enjoy historical books.
Reading book 3 now…a great read!
Amazing how the Jewish people had to endure the Natzi monsters and WW11
If any one has read any thing about the Orphan Train’s of the 1930’s.
Or knows anything about it. Will love the directions this family’s
have divided them and how Hope, will bring almost all of this family’s
members back together. It’s amazing what we have done to our children in our
Moderate recent past. Enjoy, your going to be intrigued, upset, hopeful, and excited all at the same time! Please read it’s truly amazing
Once again, part of a series and not a stand-alone book. I may check out the prior book so I can learn more about the characters. I was rooting for all of them the whole time in this portion of the story.
Captivating story but not great literature. I will continue reading other books in the series.
This was a great historical novel. It was hard to put it down. Quite sad that it was so true. I’m not sure I can read more quite yet but I’ll come back for more very soon.
Quick read.
I have read the first 2 books and I have read books by other authors about the orphan trains and they just make me cry, Human nature can be cruel.
I so enjoyed this story. It was so sad at times. I can see the realty in this period piece.
