Setting out on a journey to help orphans find homes on an orphan train are heroin fines the hardest part is finding a home for her younger brother and sister.
Endearing characters in historically accurate setting. Suspenseful and a great story!
Just couldn’t get into it. Quit after a few pages
This was a wonderful story.
With great characters.
A real page turner !!
I loved this book. My heart was with the heroine from the start. The characters were believable. Taking a piece of history and making it real for us is a talent.
I read this book in one sitting. It was a really gripping story.
Juvenile. A waste of time.
A peek at a painful time in our past
Not my first book based on the “Orphan Trains” it has a good story and describes more happy outcomes than I believe actually occurred. I find it haunting and distressing that children were not treasured and that the people who took them treated them as if they were disposable.
We’ve come a long way from the times when haves and “have nots” we’re so far separated. Food for thought
Orphan trains & Mail Order Brides are a big part of our history. Reading this gave me a small glimpse of what that was like for some of the participants.
It makes me want to read the sequel. ,
Predictable.
I liked the description and the historical interest. I found the authors character development worth reading this book. I will probably check out the rest of this series.
This book held my interest and kept me up at night. It was interesting and gave a great account of what the orphan trains were like so many years ago. I liked it enough to order another book in the series.
Liked it more than I thought I would based on the subject. Credit to the writer’s ingenuity…
Using the background of those who went thru this was really educational to me. I could feel with the decisions that the circumstance brought up. Thanks.
I can recall an era when we had orphan homes vs this age of foster homes. I found this an informative read on a period of our relative recent era of our history.
It was sad and depressing but showed the power of personal strength.
Kept me riveted! Enjoyed it, and learned a bit about Orphan Trains. Had a happy ending, which I appreciated, since I look at reading as a bit of an escape. Wish follow-up books were cheaper…;)
Although a novel, probably a lot of what was in the book happened.
