I loved this story. The characters are fun, interesting and hard to let go of. The story is full of Greek mythology with a modern twist. We meet the ancient ones in a current day setting with a penchant for the past. Meriah and Zoe are great HS best friends. They are the typical teenagers. Joking, laughing and sharing everything. While we don’t know a lot about Ryan and Brandon’s background they also have a typical bro relationship for high schoolers. When they all pair up things really start moving. There were many times I was surprised at what and how things were happening. Not bad… just shocking and many OMG’s
This isn’t my first book by this author. I love how smooth her stories flow. They are so comfortable and easy to read. I feel like I am meeting and hanging out with new friends. I loved reading this and enjoyed meeting these wonderful characters.
Orion’s Kiss is a Young Adult Fantasy novel by Claire Luana. It is based on Greek Mythology, with a modern setting.
The story centres around the characters of Orion and the Pleiades, particularly the youngest Merope. For millennia, the seven sisters and the hunter have been reincarnated only to meet the same, seemingly unavoidable fate. In the 21st Century, Meriah is determined to use her visions to save her sisters from their fate and is prepared to do anything in her power to stop Ryan from filling the role in their deaths he has occupied for so long.
The story is told from Meriah’s perspective in a first-person narrative that often feels like she is talking to the reader. I particularly liked how, at the beginning, she kept pausing relating her backstory to talk about what was happening in the immediate present. It was a great way to introduce the character as an ancient being but also a teenage girl.
There’s a strong team of supporting characters, particularly Zoe and Brandon. Brandon is very down-to-earth and keeps the story, and the characters, grounded in reality with his focus on important things like food and, er, food. Zoe’s loyalty to Mer and sense of humour make her a refreshing aspect of the story.
For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend it particularly to young adult and teenage readers who enjoy mythology or urban fantasy, such as fans of the Percy Jackson books. It’s a standalone novel, but Luana has written a number of great fantasy books which fans of Orion’s Kiss might enjoy.
Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
My rating 4 out of 5 stars
Orion’s Kiss is a fun read. There is so much going on in this book, magic, mystery, drama, and a little bit of romance.
Meriah or Merope as she is known as, is the daughter of Atlas. She spends lifetime upon lifetime trying to find ways to break the curse on her and her sisters. The curse causes all of her sisters to die at the hands of the God Orion.
Orion is her enemy as he is the one killing her sisters, but it seems that Orion and Meriah start a romance that may not be in the cards. It looks like Meriah will have to kill Orion in order to break the curse and save her sisters from dying again.
Overall a great read. I loved the Greek mythology and history that was thrown in. I would highly recommend this book.
This is a wonderful story about past lives and love and how things we think about someone turn out to be untrue.
Meriah Carmichael is a young teenage girl in this life, however she was a half- nymph, half Titan in a previous life.
Thanks to Zeus her and her sisters end up cursed, her part of the curse is that she gets a new life every time she dies but she has to watch her sisters die at the hands of Orion.
This time she plans to end this curse by killing Orion. However Orion isn’t who she thinks he is and love grows between them as they set off together as a team to break the curse.
It was an amazing story filled with highs and lows and proves that love can do anything
Claire Luana has done it again, this isn’t my first book from this author but each time I read a book from her I once again get transported into the world she has created, and this one is no different! I found this read to be mentally visual and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I absolutely loved her take on Greek Mythology, it is something that gets recreated a-lot but Claire Luana has a way with creating her stories that are magical. I was totally captivated with this read from the start, and the more I read the more addicted I got with the storyline and the characters. My only issue with this read is that we didn’t get a POV from Orion, there were definite times when this was needed, just to give us that little bit extra of Orion.
I can’t wait to see what else is to come from this author, she will definitely be another one of my go-to authors from now on! But until then! Don’t miss Orion’s Kiss – You won’t be disappointed!
Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
4 Stars
I truly love this author. I have read several of her novels and have never been disappointed. This is another beautifully written story. It is based on Orion and the Pleiades sisters. I’ve always loved greek mythology and I enjoy when authors incorporate it into their stories.
Meriah is actually one of the Pleiades sisters, Merope. She has been stuck in a loop of constantly being reincarnated to watch her sisters die by Orion’s hands. In each lifetime, she has tried to stop their deaths to no avail. She decides that this lifetime will be different. If she gets rid of Orion then he can’t harm her sisters. Realizing she can’t kill someone in cold blood, Meriah has to come up with plan b.
It was a light read with a dark edge to it. The story was well written with solid characters. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author.
Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana is an interesting and is a quick read. It is a YA paranormal story that is a twist on Greek mythology tales. Claire has a knack for writing unique stories and this one is no different. It is full of everything needed to make this read enjoyable, mystery and suspense, action and drama, danger and romance. There is also gods and seers and reincarnation. For me I would have like to see the story made in multiple POV’s, that is my preferred mode of a story being told but I do think it would have made the story that much stronger.
Revenge on her mind but when she actually comes face to face with her nemesis she realises that she has been looking at it all wrong.Orion’s perspective too.
Enjoy.
I give Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana, 4 stars.
Merope has watched her 6 sisters die; not just once, but lifetime after lifetime. She has yet to break the cycle, but maybe this time will be different. With the help of her best friend, she comes up with a plan that just might work. But once she gets to know the one whom she blames, Orion, the more she changes her mind. Can what he says be true? Can they break the curse together? Or are they doomed to continue the circle of tragedy? What of the feelings she is developing for him?
This was an interesting paranormal romance standalone book. The characters are young, but that does not detract us older readers. I consider for ages YA and older. The main characters are great, as well as the best friends. I would love to see more on the friends at some point, too. The story itself pulls you in and has plenty of action the further in you go. I was excited to see just how everything would turn out and could not put it down.
If you are a fan of YA paranormal romance, I highly recommend this book.
Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana was a fun quick mythological read. I would read this book 5 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed reading Meriah’s point of view, the descriptions and flashbacks are really well written. Meriah has an idea on how to end the curse, it ends up backfiring in a way she did not expect. There may be a way to stop reliving the horrible curse, it just involves more people and a point of view she did not have before.
Orion’s Kiss is a unique retelling of the Greek Myth of Zeus placing a curse on the seven Pleiades sisters and forcing the youngest Merope to watch while Orion (Zeus’ warrior) kills the six oldest sisters through each lifetime. Claire has taken this Greek myth and made it her own. Her character development is phenomenal and I found I really liked Mer, Zoe, and Ryan and rooted for them to end the curse. You become involved in the story from the first page and continue turning pages to the last. This is such a delightful story which I highly recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana is a wonderful YA paranormal adventure- with mystery, action, drama, suspense, discovery, myths/Greek mythology, an ancient deadly curse, Gods & Goddesses, danger, a little romance, visions, seers, oracles, fate, and reincarnation.
I loved the Greek Mythological aspect to this story- it gave it added depth and an extra element of interest. As always, Ms. Luana has woven a really great story, pulling me in and entertaining me the whole way through. I first fell in love with Ms. Luana’s writing when I discovered the Moonburner Cycle Series, and have read most of her books since then. So, I had high expectations for this story, and she definitely didn’t let me down. But it will take something truly exceptional to top the Moonburner Cycle series for me- and this was a great read, but it doesn’t top Moonburner in my eyes, but still deserves a 5 Star rating.
I enjoyed the story, although parts of it were a little predictable- but Ms. Luana’s fantastic world building and endearing characters made up for that minor detail. The whole story is told from Merope’s point of view, and I really wish we got a little of Orion’s perspective too.
This was a fun adventure, another wonderful creation by Ms. Luana- and I can’t wait to see what she does next!
Thank you, Ms. Luana!
Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana was a quick interesting read that kept me reading, and engaged.
Not my first read by this author so I was excited to get my hands on it. As a fan of greek mythology, this sparked my interest right away. In regards to story flow and plot it was pretty okay, I love it, and overall I did enjoy this book. But there are somethings that bothered me and frankly speaking, I’m not sure if this should have been a YA, I think the material would have worked better with an older MC.
Lets start with what bothered me the most, this book follows a very standard YA format, and I was surprise really, because this authors other works, I have read, were anything but standard. There was a bit of a dark humour thing going on, that for me missed the mark a little bit, as she rationalized murder a little too well, for someone of that age. Like I’m not complaining about her conclusion, cause frankly speaking I would have come to the same one, but it was just the nonchalant way she wen about it, and her best friend’s easy acceptance that got me. It was just, a little too farfetched you could say.
Other then that, I did have a good time reading this book. I like the original concept, and I did like the MC’s witty personality. There as just something about her that was eye catching and made up for the other indiscretions. This is a fairly quick read, so the story line moves quite fast, so I can see why things were done the way they were.
So please take my high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that if you’re looking for a fast fun read, with a little bit of star crossed romance, a touch of darkness, a good old fashion kidnapping, and some enemy turned friends/lovers, then this read is for you.
Happy Reading

Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana is an exciting and unique story that will have you hooked from the word go.
This is an author that I have become familiar over the past year or so and not once has a book of hers been disappointing. So when I saw this book I knew that I had to get it immediately. I loved how the author took a well-known Greek mythology story and created her own version entirely. It didn’t feel forced or like she was just regurgitating the old story.
The characters were great. I know from the moment I read the description that this was a couple I would be rooting for. You could really see the full development of their relationship and it was lovely to watch unfold.
I very much enjoyed this book and Claire Luana is becoming one of my must read authors.
I’m a sucker for anything related to history or mythology or any retelling and reimagination associated. This one was immediately in my hands and lived up to my expectations. A beautifully written retelling of Merope and Orion. I loved this book from beginning to end. To all my mythology lovers out there, you need this book. Stat!!!
I loved this book and the journey through Greek Mythology that it took me on. A story that I couldn’t put down until the end. It is creative with well developed characters that made the story seem real. Merope has a curse that she is determined to break but until she does she has to live life over and over again. In order for her to break it, she needs to kill Orin but does she have it in her? I highly recommend her story, a must read to find out if Merope will finally break her curse.
ONE ROUGH RIDE!!!
Freaking awesome! Claire brought out the magic in this tough spinning vortex and keeps your total focus on the words from beginning to end. An abundance of twists and turns along with a few lingering doubts propel this baby to life cleverly. Combating the trials and tribulations through perilous paths, unnerving danger and thrilling suspense thrust this jewel to life exquisitely. One incredible storyline and engaging plot that hurls all drama, uncertainty and intrigue leaving you craving for more. A throng of startling circumstances along with an array of inadvertent mishaps launch those blazing emotions to life front and center. One non-stop action packed, fast paced, page flipping delight that keeps you riveted on a razors edge. The characters are original, unique and realistic with traits and on point personalities that blend and flow. The scenes are so vividly descriptive it paints an amazing backdrop its easy to interpret each scenario as they play off one another in perfect sync. Fantastic job Claire, thanks for sharing this awesome gem with us.
