The #1 New York Times Bestseller (October 2017) from the author of The Da Vinci Code. Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology, arrives at the ultramodern Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of a discovery that “will change the face of science forever.” The evening’s host is Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old billionaire and futurist, and one of Langdon’s first students. But the … Langdon’s first students.
But the meticulously orchestrated evening suddenly erupts into chaos, and Kirsch’s precious discovery teeters on the brink of being lost forever. Facing an imminent threat, Langdon is forced to flee. With him is Ambra Vidal, the elegant museum director who worked with Kirsch. They travel to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch’s secret.
Navigating the dark corridors of hidden history and extreme religion, Langdon and Vidal must evade an enemy whose all-knowing power seems to emanate from Spain’s Royal Palace. They uncover clues that ultimately bring them face-to-face with Kirsch’s shocking discovery…and the breathtaking truth that has long eluded us.

It’s a good read. Glad I did, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as other Dan Brown novels. Still, good characters, good storyline, kept my interest. Overall, enjoyable.
Enjoyable, riveting, and couldn’t wait to get to my next reading time.
While being a true Dan Brown adventure, this book was not only plausible it was predictable. So much damage has been done to society in the name of religion. One hopes that we have learned from past mistakes, but alas ! fear continues to overpower faith,
Religion versus science in this Sci-fi, techno-thriller
As a first-time reader to Dan Brown novels, I can see why his books are so popular. Origin is well written, fast paced, and full of factual information. It is often difficult to know what is fact and what is fiction, making the fiction parts of the story even more believable. The primary storyline carried through the book is: Where do we come from and where are we going. These questions create the moral conflict between the religious true believers and those on the side of science, who hold to the beliefs of Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution. This moral conflict spills over into physical violence, which thrusts symbologist, Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks in the movie versions of Dan Brown’s books) into the role of getting to the bottom of the dilemma. I especially enjoyed the Sci-fi and techno-thriller aspect of the book with its discussion of artificial intelligence and supercomputing. The book dragged at times, particularly with the overwhelming descriptions of architecture, but the suspense kept my interest and the ending was quite satisfying.
Excellent book. If you like Dan Brown’s approach of mixing religion, art, mystery, and action, you will love this story.
Typical Dan Brown … A MUST READ!!!
Exquisitely and energetically written as are all of Dan Brown’s novels. The journey is complex and breathtaking, thought provoking and action packed. Edmond’s conclusions were a bit anti-climatic for me but Robert Langdon’s final conclusions were exactly what I needed! Bravo!
Cannot compare to DaVinci Code, but still a good, thought-provoking read.
As usual, Dan Brown writes a fast-paced, can’t put down, book that really keeps you wondering where he is going. I always hate it when there is too much information in a book review that might spoil a reader’s enjoyment, but suffice to say that the main character Robert Langdon always has the most brilliant conclusions to his adventures. Essentially this book is about the conflict between religious faith and atheism pertaining to the present and future. I actually felt better about it all after reading this book even though it is fictional it is very realistic take on where our society and technology is headed.
I did not like this book. I felt as if I was reading a series of college lectures with a story thrown in gratuitously. The characters were not at all developed. We were supposed to know Robert Langdon from previous books, which is a good thing because we wouldn’t care at all about the Langdon we met here.
I always enjoy learning new things about art, architecture, religious sects and philosophy in Dan Brown’s books. Well crafted mystery that was hard to put doown.
Dan Brown never fails to write thought-provoking, addictive prose.
action-packed thriller with existential and spiritual theme
It was typical Dan Brown with information about a field one might not be well-versed in (artificial intelligence). The setting in Barcelona was enlightening and descriptive. He remains readable and interesting.
This is another of Dan Brown’s thrillers featuring Robert Langdon (Angels and Demons, DaVinci Code etc). Once again Langdon finds himself on the trail of a hidden truth that will rock the world and challenge humanity’s religious beliefs.
Couldn’t put it down!!!
A great read. It makes one really think about our future with artificial intelligence.
Love his writing. Very thought provoking.
I enjoy all of Dan Brown’s work. Intelligent, well spoken, beautifully crafted. Keeps you interested.
Dan Brown’s best book ever…
