Hope is a four letter word. Yet, I can’t help but hope that the Oracle will be the answer to what I seek. But getting to the Oracle is no small thing as she resides in the center of the Blasted lands—toxic waste, lava, and monsters. And as the alpha of our Pride, it’s up to me to act responsibly and not get my people all killed.Driving us from behind comes the desert goddess whose rage is centered … whose rage is centered on me, and with her is a new ally, who still holds my heart in his hands. One whose voice calls to me still.
Eyes on the prize, I will push forward, even though hope feels weak and pointless. Along the way, maybe my heart will heal, maybe I’ll bring my brother back from the dead, maybe this will turn out okay after all.
Or maybe I will lose everything, and everyone I hold dear and discover I’m not meant to save anyone.
Hope might spring eternal, but she’s a right bitch as far as I can see.

First, can I just say I love Zam! She is awesome. Once again Shannon Mayer takes us on a journey that we never want to stop! The characters are riveting, the world is well defined and story line makes you count the days until the next book. Some of her best work!
I cannot believe we are already on book four! We already knew Zam and Lila were soul sisters but it really hits home for the reader in this book. The love they have for each other is amazing and knows no bounds. I’ve always had a love hate relationship with Maks and that hasn’t changed. I never know how to feel about that boogerbutt. STEVE is still a damn douchecanoe. And Ford, I am finding myself leaning towards team Ford. I get so wrapped up in the characters and world Shannon Mayer has created! It gives you all the feels, suspense, action, gut wrenching sadness, and laughter. Like an addict I’m starving for the next installment!
This book is one of those books you cant put down because stuff is happening constantly. The author does a very good job at keeping you hooked. I also liked how well the characters emotions are portrayed. You go through every single emotion with them. these characters are becoming life long friends as you read through the series. You just feel like you’ve known them forever. I highly recommend this book!
The feeling of family, love and loyalty is so prevalent and strong in this book that I feel as if I am one of them. I want to protect, save and travel and stand together with them in this journey they are on; better myself as they are understanding and accepting themselves for all that they already are and don’t realize, as well as, what they have yet to discover about themselves. This love and loyalty will take them far together to accomplish all that they set out to, even if it isn’t easy. Again, another rollercoaster of emotions throughout the book, happiness, frustration and tears… Zam and Lila, we could all hope for a sisterly relationship such as theirs…Ford.. I have such mixed feelings about this… I am totally sucked in and invested wholeheartedly into this story!
I’ve been a fan of the author since I read her Rylee series, and I will read just about anything she writes. This is the fourth book in this series, and I still feel that way. Zam, Lila, et al are on the run for most of this book, trying to reach the Oracle. What follows is plenty of non-stop action, revelations, and heartbreak, and I enjoyed almost every single minute. Lila is probably my favorite character of this whole series, but I really like the others as well. Now, Ford is trying to sneak in to my favorites, but I still hold out hope. (Sorry if that’s a little vague, but I try very hard not to spoil anything.) A great installment in a great series. I do highly recommend! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
I love this series so much and Oracle’s Haunt did not disappoint! I’ve been drawn to the characters of Zam and Lila since we first met them in Witch’s Reign. I relate to their feelings of being “other” and “not good enough”. Oracle’s Haunt continues their journey of finding themselves and I love following their journey as they come into their own. It’s a book full of adventure, love, loss, friendship, finding one’s confidence, and perseverance. Five stars are just not enough for any of the books in this series.
From the beginning, Oracle’s Haunt pulled at my heart strings. By the end, it left me needing a quadruple bypass. I’m tearing up even as I type this review.
Zam has possibly lost the love of her life. Will she find a way to bring Maks back? And what of her feelings towards Ford? When it comes to (possible) love triangles, I usually have a favorite. This time, I am completely torn. I love ALL the characters! Except Steve. Steve, the cowardly lion. Him I want to beat with a frying pan. I am so proud of Kiara. Her transformation into a fierce, badass woman/lioness is a beautiful thing. She will eventually be a force to be reckoned with.
Anxiously awaiting Wyvern’s Lair!
Oracle’s Haunt (Desert Cursed Series Book 4)
Zam and Lila are once more in the thick of things, and the story is a non-stop whirlwind. Each of these books is better than the last, and this one is the best so far.
It’s so hard not to say things that would be a spoiler, and I don’t like them. But…we have witches, grocs, and Steve. What more do I need to say? Do yourself a favor and read this series and enjoy the wonderful world of Shannon Mayer.
I fully admit that Shannon is one of my favorite authors, so yeah, I might be a bit biased in my opinions, but this book is the perfect example! She picks you up, turns you inside out, reunites you with lost friends and family, then tears your whole world apart again. Can’t wait for book 5!
For most of Shannon Mayer’s books I have started a review as soon as I have finished the book. They are always raves, as she is such a talented author. I had to savor this book a while. Zam and company have maneuvered their way to number one in my heart and this book is one of the reasons. Yes, it is an emotional rollercoaster, as usual in one of Shannon’s books, but this one is an example of family. What is a family, who makes up a family, why does family have such a strong hold on us? Should family have that strong a hold and what do we do about it? What would we do for family or who we perceive as family? Poor Zamira can’t catch a break in much but she has some very strong, powerful “family” bonds. A scene with Zam and Lila almost brought me to tears. Love underlines this book completely. I know it will continue in future and the next book can’t come soon enough.
This fourth book of the Desert Cursed series is Amazing!!! I absolutely love it. Zam is such an amazing character. It’s so easy to forget that this series is a spin off from the Venom and Vanilla trilogy because it surpasses those stories in all categories. There is once again so much going on with Zam and her pride. It seems as if danger is coming from every side. Her leadership, relationships and love are tested. We meet some new players. Of course there are still those we love to hate that always seem to be throwing a wrench into things. We get a small bit of insight into a bigger mystery. The magic and action are fantastic! It was a thrilling ride. I can hardly wait for the next installment.
