I hate Liam Alexander.I hate his Rolex. I hate his scowl. I hate everything his multi-billion-dollar company stands for. When the pompous, rich, arrogant jerk comes strutting into the coffee shop, I barely managecivility. But people make mistakes, and when I screw up, it’s epic.I never expected the jerk would actually be a well-respected member of Club Verge.I never should have trusted the masked … be a well-respected member of Club Verge.
I never should have trusted the masked stranger when he beckoned me.
I never should have taken him up on his offer.
And the biggest mistake of my life?
Letting him kiss me.

This the newest book in the Club Verge books, involving the best sex club in Manhattan. I’ve loved every one of these books, and am always excited to see what Jane Henry is going to do next. I almost always love her heroes and heroines, even when the Domly types are being uber-Domly. However, I can’t really say that about Liam.
Cora is a college student who works 2 jobs and goes to college. And oh yeah, she’s also guardian to her two younger siblings. She never has a second to herself and she just can’t get ahead. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. And today, it’s the jerkweed who was all condescending and rude to her and the stuff that the book store sells. Which includes erotic stories written by two of her friends. However, she manages to dust herself off so that she can go to work at her second job, bartender at Club Verge.
Liam hates poor service, and so when he stopped to get a cup of coffee and found the woman at the store on the phone to her boyfriend, he was nasty to her. You see, Liam is uber rich and a Dom, and no one treats him with disrespect or says no to him. He felt that Cora, the woman behind the bar, was disrespectful. So when he sees her behind the bar at Verge, and is able to hide his identity from her because it was a Masquerade, he just wants to get to know her better.
I spent a lot of time in this book not really liking Liam a lot. He’s really cold and calculating, and just a serious jerk. I really don’t like the way that he treats people in general, nor the way that he treats service staff. I do eventually come to like him, but he’s definitely not my favorite of Jane Henry’s guys. All that being said, I do think that he’s fairly good for Cora. He gives her a place where she can lay down her worries and burdens and just let someone else handle everything. For someone who has had to be so in control, like Cora, that has to be a relief.
I really like Cora. I admire her grit and determination. She also is going to fight for what she believes, no matter what. I truly respect her for stepping up and taking care of her sibs.
There was only one thing that I was curious about that didn’t get answered, and that’s Bailey’s teacher who seemed to know something that he shouldn’t, and was trying to lecture Cora. I might’ve liked to see something more from that.
Timber……..!!! How the mighty have fallen!
Sigh!…..i just love me some Jane Henry!
I have to say this is one of my favorite books of hers.
Cora and Liam are such well developed and rounded characters, believable and relatable.
Liam is closed off, emotionally detached and his relationships are by contract and for a set amount of time. The biggeset rule “don’t fall in love”, which personally I don’t think was for his subs, I think he was afraid to let himself fall in love.
In comes Cora, real, hardworking, not impressed by him or his money, student, “parent”, loves her family and will do anything for them. Totally out of Liams realm of experiences with women.
Liam is not sure what to do with her and his attraction to her, so he falls back into his contract conditions hoping to keep control.
The poor man didn’t stand a chance, lol.
Cora’s heart is big and true, her brother and sister lovable and charming and Liam is hooked from his first meeting with them.
Cora and her family bring out emotions Liam has never truly experienced before, caring, protective, supportive, loving and more.
He finally sees what being a real family can be like (not the cold, emotionally distanced way his family is). Liam’s broken his own rule, he not only fell in love with Cora but with her sister and brother as well!
Add in incredibly hot chemistry, sexy BDSM scenes, fantastic personalities and a story line that will grab your heart and not let go and we a 10 star book! Well done Ms. Henry!it!
I hated Liam.
I trusted Liam.
I adored Liam.
I loved Liam.
Cora is one lucky girl, and I wish I was her. Cora gave up everything for her younger siblings. Liam gave her an escape from her struggles. But Liam truly rescued her.
Jane Henry has once again captured my heart. I never wanted the story to end. I lived through Cora as I turned the pages. I hung on every word. Ms. Henry takes us back to Verge with Opposition, literally. Cora fought Liam, struggled with submission and still managed to hold true to her self. This couple is so real. Escaping into their world was so easy, but reading that last word was not. I oppose this story ended and hope to read more about Liam and Cora soon!
