I hate Liam Alexander.I hate his Rolex. I hate his scowl. I hate everything his multi-billion-dollar company stands for. When the pompous, rich, arrogant jerk comes strutting into the coffee shop, I barely managecivility. But people make mistakes, and when I screw up, it’s epic.I never expected the jerk would actually be a well-respected member of Club Verge.I never should have trusted the masked … be a well-respected member of Club Verge.
I never should have trusted the masked stranger when he beckoned me.
I never should have taken him up on his offer.
And the biggest mistake of my life?
Letting him kiss me.

Explosive chemistry.
Liam and Cora were great characters. Their explosive chemistry pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages until the end. This is a hot and sassy read and I would recommend it.
Opposites definitely attract when it comes to these two and their chemistry is explosive! Such a fun listen, especially with the amazing narration.
Opposition
By: Jane Henry
Narrated by: Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St. Claire
Series: NYC Doms, Book 6
NYC Doms has so many exceptional alpha males, but I have to say it. Liam is my favorite. Jane Henry has captured the essence of this dom. At first impression, he is nothing but a bullying jerk. To Cora, he is bossy and rude, and expects nothing but her obedience. And then we get to know him. This story has so much in it that I love. Cora is a courageous young adult, with the responsibility of her siblings, has to work several jobs just to exist and studies in the few minutes she has in between class and life. Liam is the man that changes everything for her. Not only is he protective, but his demeanor is what makes her whole. This is the one in the series you do not want to miss. While it is a standalone, it’s fun to have listened to all of the series as characters crossover.
I think what enhanced this listen for me is the narration team of Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St Claire. Their duet style accentuates the dynamic between Cora and Liam. Gunnar has that amazingly deep voice, perfect for Liam’s personality. You can feel the dominance flow off of him. St Claire becomes Cora, as we feel her emotional pulls of life. She gives her the confidence to be who she is with just an inflection. I loved their performance!

Cora has a lot going on in her life, trying to raise her brother and sister, working two full time jobs and going to college full timr….it’s just time consuming. Meeting Liam at the coffee shop she works at instantly ticks her off. He’s rude and a herk..handsome but a jerk. Imagine HIS surprise when he spits her working behind the bar at Verge. When he realizes she doesn’t recognize him, he negotiates a small scene with her. Afterwards, she discovers who he is and storms off! And so it begins…they “hate” each other but at the same time, are drawn to each other. Liam can’t get her off of his mind and when things happen to her and her siblings, he finds himself helping them out beyond what he is used to doing. Things conspire against them but will they be strong enough to stand against the storms coming their way? I was instantly drawn into this book and at times wanted to smack both of them! Loved this book!
First off, I loved this story. It’s a typical trope: rich guy pays poor girl to be his submissive, yadda yadda yadda, HEA. The characters were really well drawn with a solid plot as their anchor. But, after their first real scene the story jumps six weeks! Like, the author needed to make deadline so let’s just skip to the end. Even left a question unanswered which really annoyed me. In summation, great story with a familiar theme but doesn’t take the time to end as well as it began.
Liam Alexander, ruthless businessman and stern Dom, did not count on sassy Cora worming her way into his well ordered life. He wants her but on his terms and only for two months. Cora is juggling two jobs, going to college and raising two siblings by herself. She goes hungry more times than not and is sleep deprived most of the time. Liam makes her an offer she can’t refuse because the wolf is at her door. All she has to do is follow his rules especially the one that says don’t fall in love with him. Piece of cake, right?
Absolutely loved Liam & Cora!! Liam seems to have Dom ingrained in his genes lol. And Cora’s strength is extremely astounding. The attraction is instant even though Liam’s arrogance is thrown at Cora. I truly loved how Liam helps Cora and her situation without undermining her. Great story!!
I love the men from NYC Doms… This time we get a mysterious one that doesn’t want anyone to know who he is, he likes to wear a mask come to play and leave. But when Liam Alexander sees Cora at the bar, he knows he has to have her.
Cora and Liam have met once before although she doesn’t know it is him since he is hiding behind a mask. But what will Cora do when she finds out who is behind the mask? Liam, on the other hand, will do anything and everything he can to get her back where he wants her.
This is a beautiful story that should be read.
I received an advanced reader copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review. This story is about Liam, a friend of Tobias’ and a rich businessman and the feisty Cora, a college student and legal custodian of her younger sister and brother. Ms Henry is a wonderful wordsmith and the story is well-crafted. This is a love him or hate him or love to hate him situation. It took me a long way into the book to like Liam. I never fell in love with him. Also the couple has a two month contract and we basically see the first few days and the last few days. We don’t actually see the unfolding of the love story. There were also a couple of major plot twists that I think could have been used better as foils or barriers. There is some great steam.
Wow this book is amazingly fantastic. Liam and Cora are my favorite characters in this series. This book is now my favorite among the NYC Dom series, which is major because I love book 1. Let me say I adore Bailey and Ben. This story is an adventurous journey. The writing and flow of this book is perfect. I absolutely recommend this book
Opposition is the sixth book in the NYC Doms series, and while there’s familiar faces, this book can be read as a stand alone. Cora works two jobs, is a student, and has custody of her two younger siblings. Her life is not easy, and it’s not any easier when a rich jerk comes into the bookstore, making demands. Everything becomes more complicated with her mixed feelings of attraction, hate, and she’s shocked at his signs of caring. Liam has lots of rules and Cora breaks just about every single one of them, but when the rule is not to fall in love, who will break that first?
Oh my goodness, I just absolutely devoured this book! It was sooooo gooood! This whole series has been fantastic, but the chemistry, mixed emotions, and both fighting against love, Cora and Liam might be my new favorite couple of this series! Cora is such a strong woman, doing everything she possibly can to keep her siblings safe and fed, but knows she’s stretching herself thin. I was so happy that even though she might not have liked the initial impression of Liam, she still gave him a chance. Liam kind of came off as an alpha-hole, but I loved all of his layers, the sweetness of his Dom, the caring nature when he was around Cora’s siblings, and the protective and possessive sides when it came to Cora. I absolutely loved their chemistry, as they hated each other and grew to respect and love one another. I loved that they both jumped to conclusions about each other without fully knowing the other’s circumstances, but I also loved how they were able to make the best of the other come out. Their steamy scenes were just as impressive, too. I loved this book, I didn’t want to put it down, I can’t get enough of this series, and if I could give this book more than five stars, I totally would!
Oh my goodness! The emotion in the first couple of chapters had me just about in tears. You’ll run a whole range of emotions in this book – helplessness, despair, anger, lust & then love. This book is part of the NYC Doms series, which is wonderful, but if you haven’t read any of the series yet (which you should absolutely do as they’re great), don’t worry because the are all completely standalone. Cora is just trying to do the best that she can with the shitty hand that life has dealt her. Liam is searching for something he didn’t even know he wanted.
I am voluntarily reviewing an Advance Reader Copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Cora is one of my favorite h/s characters…ever!! She is open, loving, hardworking, sassy, strong, and totally dedicated to raising her siblings. Liam was the total opposite, selfish, arrogant, demanding H/D. They shouldn’t work, but they do, fireworks throughout and all. All the NYC Doms are well written, standalone books but why wouldn’t you read the entire series.
Cora is working two jobs, attending college and has custody of her two younger siblings. Life for her isn’t easy. Liam is a billionaire who is all about business and rules. These two have chemistry from the start but can’t stand each other. Sparks fly when they meet at Club Verge. This is a hot, steamy story with a feel good plot. Can be read as a standalone but is connected to the rest of the series.
So this has now become my favorite story by this author. I felt like I could connect with Cora and her siblings. Even Liam for all his haughty persona, he was a real person underneath. I literally did not want to put this book down. The writing is so good it feels like you are there in her ratty apartment, and running from job to job. The ending is just so good, you can’t help but smile.
Liam and Cora are my all time favorite from this series they are so complete opposites Liam a wealthy man with attitude and Cora a feisty mouthy woman that struggles just to live and these two together are sizziling hot neither one knowing what they want just one Dom needs a Submissive and a signature. I love the attitude and seeing how it all plays out was so worth every word, they are intense but just following them through the motions was everything and it was so good you never knew what Cora was going to do next and this couple was so exciting to read about and lit the pages on fire.
I loved this book! It was a great read with the sass and how hot and dominant Liam was! Highly recommended!
They had met at college and became fast friends. So when Cora’s life imploded, Chandra got her a job at Books and Cups. She’s also taken on a second job at Club Verge, a BDSM club, as a bartender where Chandra and her husband Axle are members. She had to. She’s going to school for investigative reporting so she can support herself and her two younger siblings. Liam relocated to Manhattan from Boston. He and Tobias, the owner of Club Verge, were good friends back in the day. So when he found out Tobias owned Club Verge, of course he joined, given a private room, and assured him they would keep his identity protected. The added benefit was any time he entered the club, he’s no longer Liam Alexander, Wall Street executive and C.E.O. of Alexander Enterprises. He’s simply master. When Liam goes into Books and Cups to get a cup of coffee, its to find Cora on her phone to what he thinks is her boyfriend. Yep, the worst first meeting, customer experience, patron from hell moment. And the day only gets better from there. I absolutely love this series. Jane Henry has a way of infusing her characters with relatable personalities that just make you feel like you know exactly who she’s talking about.
I got a copy of this book through BookFunnel and I chose to review it. I love the NYC Dom’s. Jane Henry did a great job with this one. I loved the characters. The story is well written. I encourage everyone to get this one. Yes, it is a BDSM story so keep that in mind. This one is worth your time and effort.
I loved the sizzle and snap in this enemies to lovers romance. Liam and Cora’s story was filled with kink, steam, drama and intense emotions. Witty banter and a very tangible feeling of “I hate you so why do I want you” keeps you on edge and entertained as you read this enjoyable story. The writing is great and the pacing spot on. Cora was a character that I liked from the start, while Liam had to grow on me. He really was quite the jerk at the start of the book. Really isn’t that why we love this type of character so much?! If you enjoy a spicy, BDSM read with lots of feels this book is not to be missed.
