Perfect for fans of Nicola Yoon and John Green.
When Jack and Kate meet at a party, bonding until sunrise over their mutual love of Froot Loops and their favorite flicks, Jack knows he’s falling—hard. Soon she’s meeting his best friends, Jillian and Franny, and Kate wins them over as easily as she did Jack.
But then Kate dies. And their story should end there.
Yet Kate’s death sends Jack back to the beginning, the moment they first meet, and Kate’s there again. Healthy, happy, and charming as ever. Jack isn’t sure if he’s losing his mind.
Still, if he has a chance to prevent Kate’s death, he’ll take it. Even if that means believing in time travel. However, Jack will learn that his actions are not without consequences. And when one choice turns deadly for someone else close to him, he has to figure out what he’s willing to do to save the people he loves.

Opposite of Always is as beautiful as it is funny, warm, and captivating. One of the best love stories I’ve ever read. Jack King is the hero we’ve been waiting for.
Read this one, reread it, and then hug it to your chest. Reynolds’ debut is wise, heartfelt, and wildly, infinitely charming.
I met Justin at a signing for this book when it came out and his enthusiasm and excitement for his debut shot my expectations through the roof! And guess what? I thoroughly enjoyed the book! It’s sort Groundhog’s Day meets The Time Machine only instead of repeating a single day, Jack repeats his entire relationship with Kate from the day they met to her untimely death. Each time he tries to figure out a way to keep her alive only to discover that his actions have unintended consequences for the people he loves. The writing is sweetly earnest with dashes of humor and the ending…well, you’ll have to read it yourself.
My favorite YA read so far this year! Reynolds has a GREAT voice, and I loved the relationships he nurtures in this book.
This is such a good read, I love the beginning, middle, and end. It’s one of those books you think you know the outcome of, but you don’t. A truly beautiful moral too.
Jack just met Kate a smart, funny, cereal loving, say-what’s-on-her-mind girl. Jack never intended on falling for Kate, in fact he actually talked to Kate about his love at that time, Jillian. Jillian is Jack’s best friend but is also a girlfriend to Jack and Jillian’s other best friend, Franny. But like every story, there’s a twist. Kate’s sick and her death is nearly inevitable. Jack keeps reliving the four months in which Kate and him met. Can he reverse the time loop or will he have to let go of Kate forever?
This book drags on for a long time. It starts off very action-packed and was a great page turner, but slowly decreased into a nuisance and I just couldn’t wait for it to be over. I think that the ending, though was a very interesting ending and you could tell that the author cared more about the ending and beginning than the end.
It took me weeks to finish this book because of ink but I really enjoyed it so much!!!!! Not what I was expecting at all. It has been optioned for film (a debut novel!!!!) and I’m very excited when it comes out!!!!!
At the beginning, I was a little confused, but once I got into it, I enjoyed every chapter that I’ve read!!!!
Based on the synopsis, I thought that this read was going to be dark, and although there were dark moments, most of the time the book was so lighthearted and funny!!!!
I really loved our main character Jack King. He is such a hilarious person and we cannot forget a corny person too but it’s just fun to read them anyway. I also love how he makes fun of stereotypes which was a nice change.
The friendship in this book was the best that I’ve ever read. Jack, Kate, Jillian, and Franny are the best friend group ever and they deserve the best in life!!!!! I also loved Jack’s parents and how they made me laugh with how corny (even Jack cringes) their romance is!!! It was just adorkable!!!!!
The reason why I did not gave it a 5 stars is because it can get a little repetitive, which makes sense since it’s about going back in time to save Kate, so it got a LITTLE boring but that did not stop my enjoyment with the story.
Overall, I highly recommend picking up this book and anticipate the upcoming movie once it’s out (In this review the movie is still not out yet).
Oh my Gawd this is a great read. Jack and Kate fall in love, and everything is wonderful until Kate dies…but is that the end? Jack is given the chance to time travel and perhaps reverse the course of fate, but such a thing is far more fraught with consequences than he ever could have imagined. A complete page-turner.
