Ophelia Pascal thought she would lead a life of adventure when she left Paris. Instead she ended up as a teacher at a school outside Quebec in a small town named Kamouraska. They weren’t many people or women of her color in Canada in the early 1899. There were no laws centered against being black and she didn’t have to fear for her life. Instead she settled into a routine where she worked with … the children of farmers and fishermen while the night gave her adventures life within the books, she wrote under a secret pen name. One day these dreams would be her reality or so she hoped. Destiny had other plans for her in the form of Euan Campbell when he rode into town.
His tales of travel and intriguing exploits were made all the more enticing by the Scottish brogue that emitted from his lips. Passion built between them and while many women wanted his affection, Euan wanted her. Another surprise was in store for them both, an unexpected pregnancy made the situation more complicated. Unlike her stories, a happy ending might be derailed because a woman with dark skin was good enough to teach but take one of the most eligible men in the area? Some vowed it would never happen. Ophelia choices were few, trust the man that called her ‘his heart’ and the life of their child he vowed to protect? Or run and let those who wanted her gone… win.

Not my usual style. This was fiery romance. A historic romance forbidden in some parts of the world. Ophelia was a school teacher, who chose to fly under the radar. When she meets Mr. Euan Campbell by chance looking for directions to the Lechlan manor he purchase. She fires off at him about how he addressed her, but refuses to give him her name. He is instantly smitten. She has no intention of giving into the attraction. Euan was determined to do everything in his power to have this woman. However some have other intentions for Euan. Once I started to read, I couldn’t put it down. this book flowed well.
Evan and Ophelia’s story touched my heart. I’m a sucker for historical romance and have been since I was young enough to read novels.Even though the couple got off to a rough start, their love for each other won out in the end.
.
The love between Euan & Ophelia was sweet and strong. Euan is a man who will not allow anyone to dictate who he loves. He cares not for the foolish notion that Ophelia is less than because of her beautiful dark skin. Euan was determined to do everything in his power to have Ophelia as his woman. Ophelia attempts to ignore what her heart tells her because she doesn’t wish to lose her teaching job. She was determined to not rock the boat and cause herself undue stress from shady towns folk. The heart wants what the heart wants, and they were in each other’s hearts.
This book is a fiery romance historical romance set in Canada. Ophelia and Euan were not a likely couple in this time period and they beat the odds to love each other. I really enjoyed reading this book and once I started to read, I couldn’t put it down. The book flowed really well and the main characters were likable. I highly recommend this book. It is a fantastic read!
I loved this story. I’m a sucker for historical romance as it is, but I really liked the way this story handled the interracial relationship during a time when it could be very very ugly for interracial couples. The author didn’t sugar coat the ugliness, but she didn’t allow it to take over the story. It’s well written, heart warming, steamy and inspiring. Recommended read.

I must admit I don’t like back in time books so it took me a little bit to commit to reading this book. When I say I loved all of this book, it was back in time but the place in Canada where this book took place was more welcoming to all races. The love Laird Campbell had for Miss Pascal was everything and he was an alpha all the way. You have to read this book it’s so worth all of your time.
This is another amazing story from Dahlia Rose. The friendship, courtship & then love between Euan & Ophelia was sweet & strong. Euan is a man who judges not by color but by character. He is amazed that life brought the beautiful & sweet Ophelia into his world. He cares not for the foolish notion that she is less than because of her beautiful dark skin. He treasures her for her beauty inside & out. Ophelia attempts to ignore what her heart tells her because she doesn’t wish to lose her teaching job or have to deal with the towns folk who act shady. I loved that as their love grew she grew into her owning her strong spirit. This book had me laughing a few times & reaching for a cold glass of water after reading their sexual chemistry. HOT! If you have never read her books this is a good start & if you are a returning fan it’s a good place to return. I was given this ARC to read for a honest review.
What a great read by Dahlia Rose! I have to say I wasn’t sure what to expect when I saw it was a historical romance as that’s not my go to genre but I loved this story. Their was great chemistry and a great connection between Euan and Opehlia. I could picture everything from the vivid scenery the author painted and was ready to read more about this couple when their story came to an end. This was a great read and I hope their are more historical romances in the works from this author.
I enjoyed reading Ophelia’s Embrace so much! I couldn’t put my Kindle down! I learned a lot as well. Historical books are not my thing but when I read this book, it held my attention. I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between Ophelia and Euan. Such a fantastic book! I will definitely be reading more books by Dahlia Rose.
Now I will start off and say I have not read a historical romance in years but I may have to just after reading this new book by Dahlia. Ophelia a teacher who held a hidden passion and let it out by writing that is until Euan comes along. He is a strong man who feels deeply for Ophelia and will do anything to prove it to her and protect her. I always love a man with a Scottish brogue and Euan is the right man for Ophelia. Once I started this book I could not put it down until I finish. Another great read by Dahlia Rose and you will not be disappointed.

Good read .I really enjoyed this book. I have a glimpse of racial tensions in Canada and in France. I love how strong and aware the female lead was and I loved that the hero didn’t care what others thought of his love. Good read.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Anything I read historic romance and it is well written, the enjoyment level is intensified. Ophelia and Euan were not a likely couple in this time period, but they beat the odds to love each other. The heart wants what the heart wants, and they were each other’s. This book has a great plot, believable storyline, excellent character interaction and story that you wished would continue after the read. Great book Dahlia Rose. I highly recommend this read.
Ophelia’s Embrace is another amazingly well written story from author Dahlia Rose. The relationship between the hero and heroine progressed from a good friendship, a courtship and slowly developed into a lifetime love. It was refreshingly sweet to read a story like Euan & Ophelia. He was a man who judged people not on their skin color but on their individuality and character. Ophelia is beautiful and sweet school teacher who lives an uncomplicated life. Ophelia wanted to ignore what her heart wanted because she didn’t want to lose her job as a teacher or have to deal with some of the racist folks in town who might be opposed to a relationship between Euan and her. This book is one of Dahlia Rose’s best work to date, it had some funny laugh out loud moments and some fire with burn the pages chemistry between Ophelia and Euan. Simply describing their chemistry as hot would be an understatement! If you have never read Dahlia Rose’s books, then I would highly recommend you start with Ophelia’s Embrace and also read her other fantastic stories.

While I do not normally read historical romance, I do read everything this author publishes. This was a well written story that give a glimpse into the race and colorism of the time period.Ophelia was a woman well before her time and Euan was definitely an exception to the norm.

I have always stayed away from books that are set in historical times. I just didnt connect with them or felt they focused to much on the historical parts. In Ophelia’s Embrace the historical part did not even register to me. The story between the 2 main characters became the focal point and the setting fell in to the background for me. The love story was engaging and as usual for Ms.Rose she made me love something that I never normally would have.

This was a short great read. The author brings forth the pictures with her details of the beautiful countryside of Canada that makes you feel like you are right there. Add in the steamy hot chemistry between Euan and Ophelia the book was hard to put down. I loved how they are both 2 strong independent individuals who quickly learned together they can get thru any adversity they faced. Euan clearly proves having a strong woman behind a man will help him go far. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ophelia’s Embrace by author Dahlia Rose is a historical story set in Canada. Ophelia Pascal is the single black school teacher in Kamouraska, Canada. One day a stranger comes to town, and in the manner that he addresses her rubs her the wrong way.
Laird Euan Campbell is the new owner of Lachlan Manor, and after the initial meeting with Ophelia, he goes out of his way to flirt with her, and she wants no parts of him, especially when Bettina Hansel has put a claim to him.
The desire that ignited itself between Euan and Ophelia is undeniable, and there will be some miserable folks when it’s all said and done. Will Euan be able to keep his lady love save from those who would set out to ruin her once it’s out that she is his choice?
Aside from the missing words and slight punctuation errors, this was a pretty good read, and I enjoyed it.
